Well; Last night I had a particularly heated argument with someone on Facebook chat. It was because he thinks it's funny to harass me and tag me in humiliating pictures he finds (you know, those pics that people share and like)

We have an argument and he then starts picking on me, some of my friends (including my best friend) and classmates. Like really horrid stuff. (One of the things he said was "I wouldn't be surprised if ___ died a virgin, he's so ugly")

So I screenshot it. I showed it to the people he insulted in the messages (because it's horrid, they have a right to know)

And then, because it's a small school, it spreads like wildfire through the class and everyone thinks he's an arsehole (he is IMHO), and begin to drift away from him. He's really upset and angry with me, and then I find out why.

People have been spreading rumours that he was insulting people not involved, etc.

I did it because I thought it was the right thing, and now it's escalated from there.

Am I at fault? Is the person who insulted people behind their backs in the wrong, or am I?

Ammi 11-03-2014 05:34 PM

..so is no one talking to him, is that what you're saying, Tom..?...

Jessica. 11-03-2014 05:36 PM

He deserves it for being an idiot, anyway it will be forgotten about in a few weeks, maybe tell him you didn't expect it to go so far, but he should know in future not to be so horrible about classmates?

The people who are talking to him are being angry because they're upset about it. Other than that, no ones talking to him.

T* 11-03-2014 05:40 PM

..I think that you did the right thing by confronting it and now maybe he'll behave differently but it's also not nice to feel isolated so you could try talking to him, if you felt you could and then maybe it could all be moved on from, rather than him feel angry and you feel guilty...?...

...I think so long as you show that you just want to move on from it, then that's all you can do Tom, whether he wants to carry on being angry is up to him but it's only himself that he'll hurt and make unhappy if he does...and it shows you to be the bigger person, if that's how he reacts...you'll have done all you can and that's all you can do and you won't have to feel guilty in knowing that either...
