Nah i see Spain giving England a lesson in Football with Xavi and Instesta running the midfield and Torres scoring a hat trick with Old fart and over rated Beckham struggling to keep up:laugh:
Yes Torres is the best player in the world, playing for the best club in the world, but Beckham will
take that free kick and become bigger than Jesus.
All it takes is becks to bend one in and the keeper will be routed to the spot

Dr. Sulaiman Al-Fahim's takeover of Portsmouth = LOL.
I love how completely unpassionate he is about the whole thing, can't be a good thing apart from the money aspect.

Tiredness no excuse, says Capello

Quote:

England boss Fabio Capello has brushed off suggestions that tiredness could affect his players during Saturday's World Cup qualifier in Kazakhstan.

Capello's squad has flown over 3,500 miles to the far eastern end of Europe for the Group Six game after a tough domestic season for many players.

"It's a long trip but we must remember that they played well in first half at Wembley," Capello told Radio Five Live.

"This is the problem, not the jet-lag and the flight."

England defeated Kazakhstan 5-1 at Wembley back in October and are huge favourites to continue their 100% winning run in World Cup qualifying against the minnows.

But Capello has warned his players and the England fans that they may need to exercise a degree of patience during the tie.

"It will not be an easy game," he said.

"I watched the last two games Kazakhstan played. They started well, pressing and running a lot and they had good positions on the pitch and were not easy to score against.

"But sometimes when you run and press a lot by the end of the game the focus is not the same as at the start."

This view is underlined by Kazakhstan's result against England last autumn where Rio Ferdinand's 52nd-minute goal broke the deadlock and three goals in the last 15 minutes gave the scoreline a more comfortable look.

And in their last qualifier, at home to Belarus on 1 April, Kazakhstan led 1-0 at half-time, but conceded five second-half goals to lose 5-1.

England return from Kazakhstan to take on the bottom side in their group, Andorra, on Wednesday.

"These next two games are very important for us. It is a big step to the World Cup in South Africa if we win these two games," Capello added.

England captain John Terry is expecting a tough game in Almaty and warned that a victory is not a formality.

"It's going to a difficult game," he told Radio Five Live. "They started the game well at Wembley and made it difficult for us in the first half.

"But we find as a county that wherever we go everyone raises their game and Kazakhstan are going to be no different.

"We know they're going to press us early on, but if we can come away with three points it will put us in a great position in the group.

"The key is to be organised and keep our concentration. If we can do that, we should get the right result."

Lawrenson fears Liverpool decline

Quote:

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson fears the club could be left behind by their rivals as a result of the financial situation at Anfield.

The club's owners lost £42.6m last year and he is worried that could affect their ability to buy new players.

"One or two of the top clubs are already doing the business, and buying players," Lawrenson told BBC Sport.

"If Liverpool have to wait they're already going to be behind the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea."

Lawrenson added it would be a "great blow" to the Anfield side if they started next season with a weaker squad than this year "because that isn't going to win the Premier League".

The loss was mainly caused by the £36m of interest payments that Kop Football Holdings - the company set up by American owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks to buy and run the club - had to make to service the debt it took on when buying the club in March 2007.

Accounts for the year showed the club itself made a profit of £10.2m with a record turnover of £160m.

But auditors KPMG LLP warned that the need to refinance loans of £350m by 24 July "may cast significant doubt on the group's and parent company's ability to continue as a going concern".

Liverpool have already seen long-term target Gareth Barry sign for Manchester City for £12m and there are concerns that the financial situation could lead to them missing out on other high-profile targets.

"If Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester City are after the same players as Liverpool it's going to be extremely difficult," said Lawrenson.

"We're already hearing that Chelsea have a new manager and Abramovich might bankroll Ancelotti with money to spend, Manchester United will be buying players, Arsenal will also be in the market and Man City will be busier than anyone.

"The great problem is that it looks at the moment as if Liverpool are going to have to sell quite a few players just to get the two or three very high profile match-winners in."

Xabi Alonso - who played a significant role in the side last season - has already been touted as a target for both Real Madrid and Manchester City, whilst Javier Mascherano is reportedly on Barcelona's wish list.

Liverpool finished second in the Premier League this season with 86 points, their best total since winning the title in 1988, and a 10-point improvement on the 2007-08 season.

"As the Premier League runners-up, they have Champions League football to offer to potential targets, and all the history and passion that goes with the badge remains a strong draw," says BBC sports news correspondent Gordon Farquhar.

"There's also a healthy revenue stream and (manager) Rafa Benitez surely wouldn't be staying if he thought there was no money to spend.

"However, there must be a feeling that until the re-financing issue is resolved, the directors aren't going to want to go hell for leather at the transfer market with cash falling out of their pockets."

Prior to the takeover by Hicks and Gillett, Liverpool operated with a much smaller level of debt.

But in borrowing money to finance their purchase the American duo considerably increased the sums owed - roughly £250m themselves and £100m attached to the club - at a time which coincided with a seismic downturn in global financial conditions.

"The club are separate to a degree from the biggest part of the risk, but of course, they're still linked," says Farquhar.

"The club's directors say they're confident they will be able to either re-negotiate the deadline, or re-finance by 24 July, and privately may well think the auditors have gone a bit over the top."

Hicks and Gillett have been scouring the globe to find investors for the club but Rogan Taylor, creator of Share Liverpool FC, a group aimed at recruiting fans to purchase the club, believes the only way Liverpool can move forward is if they are taken over by fresh investors.

"There's no way anybody is going to lend the Americans that kind of money when the club is in such deep debt," Taylor told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"I expect in various parts of the world, people are looking quite closely at the situation and I wouldn't be surprised if there's some marked changes.

"Share Liverpool FC are keen to be involved and we can probably raise between £25m and £45m, so we need to come in with a major partner.

"It is an opportunity though. Let's get rid of these American no-marks and get on with life."

Hicks and Gillett have become increasingly unpopular among Reds fans since they took the club over in March last year, drawing criticism for their treatment of Benitez and their financial management of the club.

Plans for a proposed new 60,000-seat stadium have undergone two re-designs already.

In their accounts, Hicks and Gillett say they are "committed to building a new stadium and actively seeking funding to complete the project".

But they admit that "the opening of the new stadium will be delayed until 2012".

Tonge seeks bigger role at Stoke

Quote:

Midfielder Michael Tonge is prepared to stay with Stoke City and challenge for a first-team place next season.

The 25-year-old signed from Sheffield United for £2m in September but played just twice for the Potters in 2009.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's been frustrating because I've not played as much as I would have liked.

"But I'm looking forward to next season. Everyone starts on a level playing field again, and hopefully I can play myself into the team."

Tonge made just two starts all season - against Portsmouth in the Premier League in October, and in the FA Cup defeat to Hartlepool in January.

Despite his continued absence from the first team, Tonge remains convinced that he made the right move to join Stoke, and believes he can play a more important role for them in their second season in the Premier League.

"Even though I've not played as much as I would have liked, I've really enjoyed it. I've settled in really well and everyone at the club has made me feel really welcome.

"When you got to a new club, you want to prove that you're good enough. I've got no thoughts of leaving. I just want to play a bigger part than I did last season.

"I want to try and impress the manager in the pre-season games. The lads that have played the majority of the season will be in a strong position.

"You just want to start the season flying, because everyone will be coming back a little bit rusty and no one's got any sort of form. If you hit form early doors, you can make a statement for starting."

Lauren 06-06-2009 02:22 AM

^ Tonge is a good player, can't believe they've only played him twice. Hasn't had much of a chance to showcase his talents really so he can't be at the top of his fitness having played barely no first teams.

Why Is Arsenal Player Giving Us Transfer Tips?

Last summer I was hoping Sir Alex Ferguson was going to show interest in Andrei Arshavin. It never happened. It was fairly disappointing when Arsene Wenger snapped the talented Russian up during the January transfer window.

I imagine most reds are a fan of his because aside from his great talent alone, he did put four goals past the dippers as time starting running out for them towards the end of last season. What a match.

It seems like Arshavin is keen to feature more heavily in our good books though, passing on a good transfer tip to our manager.

Arshavin reckons that we should look at replacing Edwin Van der Sar with Russia’s number one, Igor Akinfeev. He has been linked with the other clubs in the top four and no doubt Guus Hiddink has let the Chelsea camp know about him.

“Given that Van der Sar will not be around forever, Ferguson is most in need of a goalkeeper,” said Arshavin. “I therefore advise him to sign Akinfeev.”

It does beg the question of why he would want to strengthen the squad of a supposed rival though? Arshavin, shhhhhhhhush.

See the 23-year-old keeper in action…

lol there was a vid but its not working lol.

http://www.clubcall.com/arsenal/weng...id-909773.html

Arsene Wenger is ready to beef up his Arsenal midfield with a sensational summer swoop for Barcelona giant Yaya Toure, reports claim.

Wenger is keen to team up La Liga and Champions League winner Yaya with his brother, Kolo, at the Emirates Stadium and is ready to offer the Catalan giants £12million in a move that will win over Gunners fans who have questioned the Frenchman's transfer policy.

Supporters are keen for Wenger to add steel to a lightweight midfield and 25-year-old Yaya, who had a trial at Arsenal in 2005 but failed to seal a permanent move and joined Olympiacos, fits the bill.

Yaya said: "It's true that it would be great to play for a big club with my brother. That would be fantastic but you never know."

That would be perfect for Arsenals defence.
