Think we should just be grateful that these guys have a lot of years left in them

Foden is the single biggest talent we've had in a long time and we definitely missed him tonight but I also know he'll be around for a long time to come

But the post I quoted literally said he should speak out less about school meals and focus more on football, I literally couldn’t care less about football, but it’s great to see someone using a platform for good and for change, and that makes Rashford a winner in my eyes.

I like Foden better than Grealish, my type of player is Foden, proper player, his time will come.

I get what you're saying, but I feel that if Grealish was doing fantastic in training then Southgate would've started with him in games.

Every time I watch Grealish I keep waiting for him to do something that makes me see him as a special player, but I honestly haven't seen it yet.

Imo Villa's only world class player they've got at the moment imo is Martinez as he is a fantastic Goalkeeper that I honestly wish we'd snapped up whilst he was struggling to become Arsenal's number one. Players like Grealish, Mings, Konsa, El Ghazi, and McGinn I see as the grade below, and controversially I just don't rate Ross Barkley at all for any Premier League team, but that's just me personally.

I forgot I was talking to a fan of The Blues, and I respect you for that response to a Villain. That's how it should be.

Reminds me a bit of the calls of 'where is Joe Cole' in the 2010 World Cup.

Honestly it's not because he is a Villa player, I've respected a fair few Villa players over the years, and as I've already said I think that Grealish is a decent player, but do I think that he is the next Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kane, Mbappe, or De Bruyne? Not imo.

And aren't you an Everton fan? Isn't it a bit weird also calling yourself a Villa fan?

I'm just messing with you on the Everton fan part as I know that's your team.

Rubish World Cup for us that, how did you get on in that one?

Errr no ..

Southgate is all about minimising risk ... Grealish doesn’t contribute as much as Mount for example- to defence or our pressing game so he’ll always be behind him in pecking order

God Mount is another player I don't understand the hype for, again a decent player, but the way some people talk about him you would think that he was the best player in the England squad.

Vanessa 12-07-2021 04:23 AM

The more experienced players should always take the penalties.
Not someone who's never taken it before.
Whose decision was this? It cost England the cup.

Vanessa 12-07-2021 04:24 AM

Donnarumma was fantastic. Man of the match!

Alf 12-07-2021 04:33 AM

I'm still going, it isn't breakfast yet.

Vanessa 12-07-2021 04:49 AM

God, I feel rough today. And I have to go to work

Shaun 12-07-2021 05:25 AM

Can't quite shake the feelings of dejection and frustration. Southgate allowing that penalty roster was completely absurd. Bringing on people who've not played any of the match just to take them... and then they both take shockingly awful penalties? The blame lies squarely with him.

Rashford in particular will get a lot of criticism for the manner in which he attempted his... stuttered run-ups always look daft and his was the worst miss of the night. At least Saka was on target (and against a brilliant Donnarumma).

But all that aside... it's been a brilliant tournament (I'm sure from the neutrals' POV) and England have a bright future ahead of them. We've put many of those omens to bed: Germany, never reaching a final, horrible defence (we conceded two goals all bloody tournament :clap1:), lack of discipline (no red cards), unfortunate injuries... it's been a great England to watch, even if the team selections and substitutions are occasionally bizarre (WHY DID YOU TAKE OFF RICE, GARETH? PHILIPS WAS **** ALL TOURNAMENT!!)

Just sucks that it had to be Bonucci. Racist prick.

bots 12-07-2021 05:33 AM

the team is so young, they will take a lot of stopping in 18 months at the world cup. I firmly put the blame at Southgates feet for the tactics, particularly in the shoot out. However, i have surprisingly enjoyed watching italy play throughout the tournament and for that alone i think they deserved to squeak it

Nicky91 12-07-2021 07:18 AM

why put Saka on, UGH worthless player that one, haven't seen one good thing from him the entire tournament

England has a good team, just needs to weed out the weak a bit more ahead of World Cup next year (definitely No Saka, and i would also not select Maguire anymore, expensive player my arse, he also made couple of mistakes, especially in beginning that wrong back pass at goalkeeper)

Italy played a impressive tournament overall, and i like their title win, for Vialli especially, from cancer survivor to being part of this success euro2020 team

i have to be honest, it was a alright tournament, with some surprises here and there (biggest team surprises for me Denmark, Switzerland)

biggest letdown for me, Turkey i had hoped they would do better, i mean i know they can do loads better, but something just wasn't right over there (maybe they need to hire Hakan Sukur as assistent, and Rustu as their goalkeepers coach, to bring in extra experience for all those young players)

most unlucky team, Belgium a shame luck wasn't on their side against Italy, they definitely have a strong great squad, maybe just need to renew/refreshen their defence a bit with some new talent, and i'd say use Mertens a lot more than Eden Hazard, i find him 1000 times better, and i can know this since i've followed him since Utrecht, PSV and now also in Serie A

Totally different ball game at the World Cup, The climate in Qatar is one thing and then I believe the tournament is taking place during our winter around Christmas time, which is in the middle of our domestic season, so I don't know how that is gonna work out. This will be a unique World Cup, unchartered territory, so any team could win it.

It was dirty, yes. But that’s what you call a professional foul. Most players in that situation would do the same if they knew there was no chance of beating their opponent to the ball, and even more so in the later stages of a cup final.

It’s crap but it is what it is

Nicky91 12-07-2021 07:57 AM

also a foul against a pathetic amateur player, i mean imagine seeing Saka as a ''huge talent''

where the **** did that talent go then :laugh2:

can't defend properly, can't hold the ball properly, can't give a good assist LOL i wouldn't want this one in my team for sure

AnnieK 12-07-2021 08:29 AM

Saka is still a kid....he didn't perform as well as he can but he has talent....he stepped up to take a penalty when other more senior players bottled it.
