It would be illegal here, 17 in Ireland. What age was he when that happened?

I'm in real danger of joining the conspiracy theorists but I can't help but feel this isn't the real story that a newspaper has been investigating with all the other **** that's been going on in the world

Even at the time these allegations refer to, everyone knew exactly the type of person Brand was. I just don't see it as news, and unless the women have actionable evidence that can be given to the police, the whole thing is pointless

Again though both can be true - it's odd that it's "such big news" (and it is odd - it's hardly shocking, if someone had said "which big UK comedian do you think might have been a sexual predator" before any of it came out, he'd have been most people's first guess).

No matter how sus the seemingly sudden FOCUS of it is, it doesn't mean that the facts of the incidents themselves aren't true, it doesn't make it a "hit job" on an innocent man, and it doesn't lessen the severity of them either.

So while I think "Why NOW?" is a valid enough question to ask, I think it's an entirely separate question.

Gen public - "yeah we all knew m8"

Gen public "sigh - we know its a hit piece relic MSM"

Where’s the ‘this has the possibility of being the next Saville’ declaration bots? Or do you save that exclusively for the gay men that hit the headlines?

There’s evidence of him apologising for forcing himself on somebody after they told him no, but it’s not that big of a deal?

bots 18-09-2023 10:59 AM

Saville hid in plain sight, he pretended to be a do gooder while molesting children. Brand just isn't the same story

Liam- 18-09-2023 11:13 AM

Right, so because everyone knew his reputation as a shagger, it’s not important or newsworthy that there are actual credible rape allegations against him?

Cherie 18-09-2023 11:16 AM

Think BOTS might be right about the BBC being the actual target

"Alice" told BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour the alleged abusive relationship left her feeling "cheap and dirtied".

She went on to say Brand's denial of the accusations was "insulting".

"It is laughable that he would even imply that it's a mainstream media conspiracy. He's not outside of mainstream media," she said.

She said she would like to know why more was not done by the corporation at the time of their relationship in 2006, saying: "He had a very well-known record of doing things that were inappropriate on the air, he had inappropriate conversations."

She went to on say does not think Brand was being held to the same standards as other BBC presenters or newsreaders, adding: "There were exceptions and allowances made for him and we need to ask ourselves why."

Think the difference is he didn't present himself a a clean cut, housewifes choice type like Schofe and Huw, no one is shocked to hear he was a sex pest and predator

It's all directly out of the "Trump press playbook"; any negative report is agenda-driven lies. "Fake News!" as he's always termed it. It's worked extremely well for Trump so it's entirely unsurprising that others have started using the same tactic. Andrew Tate of course being another prime example. And you can guarantee that if anything comes out about people like Jordan Peterson, Elon Musk, etc. it'll be the same story.

Doesn't have to be anything to do with sexual misconduct it can be literally anything, from fraud to drink driving, they'll rewrite history and claim a set-up. And certain people will swallow the entire fishing rod.

Good old BBC

Swan 18-09-2023 04:26 PM

Paid for by the license scam, picking up kids from school so their highly paid "stars" can shag them. Literally, everyone just needs to stop paying it, they'll have no choice but to scrap it then. Remember, THEY have to prove you're watching TV, so as long as they don't see you actually watching live TV there isn't a damn thing they can do about it.
