What does AI mean?

IBB has an article about it, but I'm not too sure what it's about. Can someone please explain.

Audience Appreciation ... though no idea why its called AI

Basically those with BARB boxes rate the shows out of 100 then an average score is found. Anything 80 is supposed to be seen as really good, about 70 acceptable etc. They aren't always publicly released but channels take them into account when renewing a show. But obviously, the lower the ratings ... the more cult a show is so you only tune in if you REALLY want to watch it.

Tom 17-06-2009 12:42 PM

Oh and some official figures

Launch- 5.5m (up 0.4m)
Friday 5th- 3.3m (up 0.3m)
Saturday 6th- 2.5m (up 0.3m)
Sunday 7th- 2.2m (up 0.3m)

Official average- 3.4m, down on 4.2m for the equivalent 2008 shows.

So sophie's eviction got 78. It says in the article it's the highest since 2006.

Does that mean that viewers are enjoying BB10 more than BB8 and BB9?

Tom 17-06-2009 01:12 PM

Its hard to say really. If you just look at the raw figures then yes, they are,
but there is an argument that the lower the audience the more those who watch it enjoy it which sounds pretty plausible ... though the only real criticism of this year that I've picked up is the live feed, everything else seems to be quite positive and more seem to be enjoying it than the last few years (though personally I preferred BB9).

Billy 17-06-2009 01:13 PM

3.4 official average, and BB bosses wanted a 3.0 so we're on an alright track kinda? I hope it doesnt get much wrose though.

But it was only bumped up by the launch ... nothing else was over 3.4 ... on average about 0.3m get added on so roughly that will be added on to the overnight average so will be about 2.7m

It could still be good enough for a recommission, it would be about 3m as well as better, cheaper and more profitable than most of the other stuff they show. It will just have more of a cult audience than a mainstream one and take a much much more low key and less central role like this years is

*mazedsalv** 17-06-2009 01:56 PM

Theres 2 positives to the ratings:

1. The AI is higher generally than BB9s meaning that BB10 is generally more liked so far than BB9.

2. The ratings have been stable and consistant all the way through (instead of the launch and 1st HL show which had higher ratings).

MarkWaldorf 17-06-2009 01:59 PM

The sensible thing for C4 will be to come back next year for the 'final' confirmed season, with live feed in place and just give it their all. I don't think its fair to just cancel it right now, considering the circumstances.

*mazedsalv** 18-06-2009 09:08 AM

2.2m last night and 4th most watched show on C4.... ouch!

President 18-06-2009 09:21 AM

Brilliant ratings

Tom 18-06-2009 02:22 PM

Equivalent show last year got 3.2m.

In hindsight the drop isn't quite as bad as we thought, though it is still bad

cleaner67 19-06-2009 10:36 AM

Any one know what it got last night yet?

*mazedsalv** 19-06-2009 11:45 AM

2.1m

The second show will probably rate a lot better tonight in comparison to last week because the eviction announcement is in the second show

Doesn't have the pointless 5 minutes added on either this week. I reckon 2.7 and 2.1 for tonight

marcus1971 19-06-2009 10:53 PM

this is what ive been looking for for a long time, viewing figures.the top of this topic was very interesting showing the decline.i am a massive fan and have systematically tried to get producers and programme makers to make 1 series of all former winners from BB n CBB in a Champion of Champions format and receieved no reply.this is whats needed, imagine all the faces returning on launch night.my estimate 8-9million viewers easy.

Yes...... but at what cost?

The repercussions of this will be evident next week. There'll be viewers out there that'll skip the highlights portion entirely, tune into the eviction show for the first 5 mins then switch off. Especially after that diabolical interview.

As the saying goes: fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Stentionhouse 20-06-2009 07:15 AM

Channel 4 really haven't got a clue. Pulling a stunt like they did last night without warning is proof of their desperation. Hopefully the viewing figures will still be poor.

Spike 20-06-2009 10:35 AM

Big Brother (21.00) - 2.2m
Big Brother (22.35) - 2.0m

Its just awful

*mazedsalv** 20-06-2009 10:43 AM

OUCH.... even though its excluding +1.

Tom 20-06-2009 10:49 AM

It really does seem like we've hit the core audience; if the evictions can't improve significantly on the whole week then it just shows hardly anyone other than the 2m who watch the highlights are watching, and those who are watching are watching every night as the figure has been literally the same all week which is unusual for BB. The final might not even break 3m.
