Thought I best do a full shop before everything goes tits up so I got up and got to asda for 6am. It was pretty suprisingly all the staff looked shocked and stressed. But im glad I went when I did. Managed to get toilet roll, pasta, nappies wipes etc before it all went again. So im sorted now which is a big weight off my mind

Just done an Asda Shop, Got Milk and Toilet Paper (18 pack Andrew which was lucky as they wheeled them in off the trolley and everyone was gunning for them)
Didnt get eggs as they were at the bottom of the cages and didnt have time to wait |
First time I've been in a big shop since coming back down to Essex..it was over in Kent. .
Shelves were empty and it was 10 o clock...only went in for a hot chicken skewer cause I'm of the vegan diet now....DAY 1. There wasn't even hot pizza or pasties. |
Since everyone ignored me first time :fist:
If you have a Marks and Spencers food store near you I recommend checking it out; we actually looked at each other confused for a second when we walked in and then laughed, because it wasn't short of stock at all... other than pasta and toilet roll. Got everything we wanted easily . The "main" supermarkets (Tesco, ASDA, Sainsburies) are pretty bare btw so it's not just the area. |

Supermarkets and their supply chains are beginning to buckle under the strain of customer behaviour in the face of coronavirus.
Several chains are "drastically cutting" the product ranges in store. They also said they were telling their manufacturers to ignore making some products to focus on those for which there is greatest demand. Meanwhile, competition laws are being relaxed so shops can discuss stock levels and pool staff and resources. "We currently sell 60 types of sausages - we are moving to a fraction of that," said one supermarket. Another said: "We need to make food manufacture as efficient as possible - it makes no sense to pause to change packet sizes or change from one type of pasta to another. "We have 20 different sizes and styles of pasta, we are moving that to six." Morrisons have reduced their bakery lines from 17 to seven. While executives insisted there was no shortage of food, they were struggling to restock shelves fast enough. Meanwhile, online delivery services are running at "maximum capacity" https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51961624 |

we are animals, when people mention the possibility of death, survival instincts kick in ... that shows itself in this case as panic buying. We haven't had a threat like this in a century

Gav went shopping anyway, they had everything toilet roll, pasta, eggs etc but they had totally changed how they were allowing people to shop, a security guard was at the door to let people in as there was only a certain amount of people allowed in at a time and they'd set up a queue system that spaced everyone out. It took longer than usual but it was safer
