I hope cool heads prevail on this

i think its likely it was debris from a shot down missile, it will take time to evaluate. However, Russia shouldnt be bombing anything that could spill into a neighbouring country, they know the risks if something goes wrong. If similar were to happen again i think we could end up directly involved

do you really want us directly in a war? Fragments can appear to be many missiles and not be. I would imagine there will be some harsh words from nato at this point and that will be it for now

LaLaLand 15-11-2022 11:32 PM

This is bad... :omgno:

Gusto Brunt 16-11-2022 05:46 AM

It was obviously an error.

Good job it wasn't nuclear. But the idea Putin is trying to escalate the war, is absurd.

His army couldn't fight itself out of a paper bag, never mind take on the massive force of NATO.

Mystic Mock 16-11-2022 06:12 AM

Apparently new reports are coming in saying that it was a Ukranian Missile that hit Poland.

Presumably on accident.

Seems plausible, makes no sense for Russia to risk hitting Polish territory right now

All the WWIII hysteria can calm down now

Fingers crossed that you're right.

Russia needs a smack

Alf 16-11-2022 08:11 AM

So what happened was it was Ukraine who did it and then they lied to try to frame Russia for it in a bid to escalate WWIII

Do I have that right?

Beso 16-11-2022 08:11 AM

It's ok...Biden's on the case

Probably Belarus.

The Missile is Russian Made
but it appears to have come from Ukraine Forces
who use old Russian gear they have picked up.

Two polish farmers are dead.

All Media.

Not really although of course the blame-game is being played - the suggestion is that it's a SAM (surface to air missile) fired by Ukraine to intercept Russian missiles, that has gone astray and landed over the Polish border.

I personally would call that shared responsibility; Ukraine ultimately has to share responsibility if equipment has gone wrong, but Russia is partly to blame for engaging targets so close to the border, as they know the risks.

These things aren't all that unusual, similar has happened plenty of times in the Middle East (usually Americans firing the rockets). More commonly missiles aimed at military targets accidentally blowing a civilian building to bits.

NATO countries have a vested interest in giving the benefit of the doubt if both sides are claiming this was an accident, because if they don't allow "it was an accident sorry!" to be an acceptable excuse, then they'll have less wriggle room themselves when they inevitably next do the same.

It seems incredibly unlucky to hit 2 people in somewhere so sparsely populated. It has to be a targeted

Most Surface to Air missile systems use infrared (or "heat-seeking") as part of their targetting system so while it seems like a huge coincidence, it's actually quite plausible that a stray missile in a large open area would hit a dwelling/vehicle etc. because they're the only thing in the area generating any heat in a cold area. More likely at this time of year as the surrounding area will be even colder by contrast.

Makes sense. Poor Ukrainians they must feel so awful.

Gusto Brunt 16-11-2022 01:05 PM

Sunak was completely right when he said Russia and Putin are responsible for the Ukrainian missiles straying into Poland, even though Russia didn't launch them.

Russia is responsible because Ukraine wouldn't be firing missiles if it wasn't for Putin and Russian starting this war.
