As for the newspapers, they print it because its something big to talk about its gunna start talks, but weather people really mind (outside Ireland).. is a diffrent matter.

I like to discuss it but i dont really care either way... As david, andy nate and now wildcat have shown.

Well people care Ben. Christ. Why try and deny it? People care and it's not just people in Ireland. Obviously we care the most because ... oh look, fuck ... we were the team playing, but people do care.

I can guarantee you if Ireland did the same thing we would celebrate our victory but Robbie Keane would get the slagging of his life forevermore walking the streets of Dublin.

In any other sport this would never have happened but of course football is still living in the dark ages so we've got to accept it. Laughable stuff and even more laughable that you're defending his actions.

Just LOL to the highest level

and Yes its footballs rules about showing play back about the referee's ruling etc.

If it was sorted properly then henry would have got away with it. but he has.
Football needs to change.

People do care but its not a big thing for them, its just somthing to talk about in the pub for most.

We actually wouldn't We'd be so embarrassed over it.

And you never answered me on why you're defending Henry's actions and placing the blame entirely on the refs shoulders.

Nobody is denying that. Obviously people in Bulgarian pubs don't have a vested fucking interest in Irish soccer and are not passionate about it. Unless they are Irish, of course.

OH Cmon Ben!! Football is just like most of the sports in the world. Referees make mistakes, and even if they used instant replay, not everything can be overturned. IN American Football, they use instan replay for certain things, but they are not gonna review every handball, and things like that. YOu know how much time will be wasted if that was the case, especially on a sport like Soccer that doesnt have much stoppage.
Like I said, the only new rule they can put in is to review the ball crossing the line. That should be a given, but even thats not a rule in soccer. Let alone a handball.

Because would any football go say to the ref they handballed it knowing their country just got into the world cup? No, they would try to avoid questioning and keep their head down, if they ref didnt see its not a foul as football stands...

My point exactly they dont really care that they went out. They dont like how it happened but its like ohh wow what a bad hand ball, get me another beer mariusz..

setanta 20-11-2009 01:23 AM

My american cousins are in shock over this right now. Can't believe that the goal was allowed to stand and why Henry refused to apologize. I mean I usually argue with them over how much better football and rugby is to their sports but what can I say to this? How can you defend a sport that allows this kind of injustice to happen? Sure the crowd saw the replay 10 seconds after the "goal" was scored on the big screen. It's crazy, really.

So you're condoning cheating and that was blatant cheating. Crazy stuff.
Ok kids, cheat all you like as long as you're not seen doing it. And this is from the French captain who's worked endlessly in promoting fair play. It's actually laughable.

YOur american cousins are full of **** then. They miss calls in the NFL all the Fcking time. Just this week there was a controversial call in a Football game, Dallas Cowboys against the Green bay packers, were a ball was lost by the one team, and the referee reviewed it, knew it was a bad call, but the play had to stand, because by rule, the play shouldnt have been reviewed. So please, dont give that about the NFL, I know erverthing about that sport. And even though they have instant replay, they still miss calls, and they limit the amounts of replays you can have during a game. JUst like in Tennis, you have a limited amounts of challenges.

Yep, but at least they're allowed a certain amount of challenges and instant replay. Football has none of that. It's mental. Cheating is ruining the sport and Henry typifies what's happened in this era of the game. He will be remembered forever because of it.

30stone 20-11-2009 01:31 AM

I give up.

Henry is the devil he should rot.
Ireland should be autmoatically in the world cup although they didnt loook like winning particularly.
Footballs rules should be changed.

The world "greatest" football fans can be happy again.

Henry will be remembered by most as Arsenals top scorer to.

30stone 20-11-2009 01:31 AM

While we are at it should give the irish league title holders a place in the champions league to..

They are allowed 3 challenges in a game, thats it! And certain things cant be challenged no matter what.

And LMAO at Henry will orever be remembered for that! Keep telling yourself that.
Henry will forever be remember as a stud, legend of Arsenal, world cup winner, and 2 time world cup finalists. NOt a footnote in history in a qualifying game for the world cup. Like I said before, the only people who will remember, are the Irish, and some english people.

A stud... lol pathetic. This will tarnish his reputation forever, even with his compatriots who are destroying him in the press right now. The French public are even ashamed of him.

LOL! YOure deluded as hell dude. I have loads of family in France. Henry is a hero right now. NO one gives a **** about this. I watched their live boradcast during the game, they didnt even mention the handball. The commentator acted like it never happened! :D That was hilarious. :D
Of course they talked about it later for like a second, but that was it.

Didn't look like winning? Did you see the amount of chances we created in both legs. Anyway the winning is irrelevant. Actually the silliest excuse you've come up with, and that's saying alot.

You just can't be so blase about something that is destroying the sport.

And football rules have been twisted and changed by FIFA before, only a couple of weeks ago with their decision to seed the playoffs. Don't lecture me on fairness and rules.

Novo 20-11-2009 01:40 AM

Henry said after the game

" I did it for my close friend Fabio "

Are you demented? Have you not read the press? They're ashamed, and rightly so.

Wildcat! 20-11-2009 01:40 AM

And BTW, I banter with all the english fans about their World cup chances, because its fun, thats what football is all about, banter, trash talking and such. Andy understands that, I am always trashing the English national team to him, and he takes it with good humour, and he trashes all the African teams as well.
I was talking smack last summer that Senegal was gonna win the world cup, but we got our asses kicked and we are out. Thats life, thats Football.

Not only did I read the press, I listen to the tv commentators, ( I do speak french BTW, I dont just read hearsays from the english or Irish press), and I talk to my family and friends in France. And yes, Henry is a hero. Whats your point?
