Footballs rules should be changed.

Who said that? We are just making it quiet clear that we are upset. Because he deliberately controlled the ball. Something now he wont even admit to. Jesus Christ you know your getting as bad as Wildcat? If Henry is such a great character why does he have to lie to the press and shrug it off as a simple, accidental handball?

And then people pretending there is absolutely no solution. There is and it's rather simple : Bring in video replay, allow for each team to call up one video replay per half/game. Simple injustices corrected. No game slow down.Much like the rule in tennis, which seems to work just fine.

There are millions of pounds in potential deals riding on the back of some decisions, and I think it's absolutely fair to have some way of immediately holding refs to account if you're about to lose that money on account of a bad decision.

It's also not unfair to have video replays at the top of the game and not lower down, on the idea that the game is identical. Anyone who's ever seen a Premiership game and then turned out for some semi-pro Sunday league side will know that games are reffed very differently depending on your level, so introducing video replay is hardly that bad. We don't want the world to change, we're just a tiny bit pissed off.

Go figure.

As for the hilarious comments that all the French media are absolutely delighted...

Quote:

There was plenty of sympathy for the Republic of Ireland in the French media this morning after the controversial extra-time goal that denied them a place in next summer's World Cup finals in South Africa.

The national sports newspaper L'Equipe ran the headline "Hand of God" on its back page this morning after the France captain, Thierry Henry, admitted to handling the ball in the lead-up to William Gallas's equaliser which secured an aggregate victory in Paris.

Le Monde admitted that the goal was a fraught ending to a stuttering qualification campaign for the French, with their main headline reading "Les Bleus relieved, Irish disgusted".

The France head coach, Raymond Domenech, has come in for criticism during his side's below-par campaign and the manner with which qualification to South Africa was finally accomplished has not convinced the French media.

The former World Cup winner Bixente Lizarazu, who is now a television and radio pundit, was outspoken following the match describing the performance as "catastrophic".

Speaking on TF1, he said: "We're going to go to the World Cup, but we go to the locker-room with our heads bowed. It was not something to be proud of. I'm not going to party."

Also, over 80% of French people wanted a rematch in online polls. So to say everyone in France is delighted is just plain ignorant.

Wonder if marradonna was sitting there saying " i taught him that "

If it was England that this happened to I doubt you'd have the same opinions Ben!!

Id be pissed off but i wouldnt expect a rematch. like i have said they need to bring in instant replay but i wouldnt see them doing a rematch at all.

And id still think henry is a great player..

alc09 20-11-2009 10:00 AM

Wildcats views on this incident are cringeworthy.

I don't think whether or not Henry is a great player is in question. We are entitled to be really annoyed and atleast ask for a rematch, we probably won't get it anyway but why shouldn't we ask?

Niamh. 20-11-2009 10:07 AM

Just reading back on your conversations last night, can't believe ye were being so mean. If it was England ye would all be as angry If not more so!

alc09 20-11-2009 10:11 AM

You've been refused a replay by Fifa.

Well I agree partly with that, yes. Obviously it shows good faith and support to at least try for a rematch but nah, we were never going to get one :joker:.

30stone 20-11-2009 10:46 AM

French accoring to a poll 80% want a rematch.

But

Most of them are not pissed at henry they just dont want to go throught the way they did.
"Henry is not a cheat"

I would quite like a Replay, but fifa have made a FINAL desicion apparently.

The French naturally didnt want a replay so it wasn't so, (french football manger etc not the public)

I dont think it should be their choice fifa should make the choice without asking ireland or france weather they want one.

"fifa is the ruler of the game and we abide by what they say, we should move on, there is nothing we can do now, and it came down to a referee's mistake. it was abitter qualification but sometimes in history it has gone against us." - French Generation just in on sky sports.

If the french generation would have said yes, there is a good liklihood you would have.

Saying that what team really however unfair is going to say yes we will play again to a team that was better than us for more of the match..

I think alot of teams would tbh, I mean there's a very good chance they'd beat us anyway and least then they could go into the world cup with their heads held high and without people calling them cheats

30stone 20-11-2009 11:09 AM

Roy Keane " Why is there so much talk on henry, how can you let a stiker of his calibre get goal side of you in the 6 yard box id be asking more from my defence and keeper where were they, they should have cleared that ball way before. Where was the defenders"

On john delaney i think it is, who is talking all about honesty and everything.. " He's talking about honesty he needs to remember the 2002 world cup ireland team"

On the replay idea " no i dont think they should get a replay nor do they deserve it these things happen in football what goes around, they had their chances but they didnt take them, they never looked like they were going to put the game away"

On technology "ive been saying it for years every couple of months it comes up."

Alf 20-11-2009 11:10 AM

great words by roy keane

Niamh. 20-11-2009 11:12 AM

Roy Keane is a legend.............but I still don't see the problem in looking for a replay whether Ireland missed chances or not they lost because of that 1 goal that should have been dis-allowed!

30stone 20-11-2009 11:12 AM

Sir Alex and Big Sam both saying the call for technology is more than ever.
But both believe ireland had good chances that they should have put away, but shouldnt have gone out that way as its (in the words of Sam) "soul destroying" way to leave.

Martinez (wigan manager) believes the call of henry being a cheat is unfair, said he was surprised that none of the officials could pick that up. And also asked for technology.

French high up bloke not sure what his role is but he said, he has sympathy for ireland as its not the right way to go out, but we are very happy to be through.

30stone 20-11-2009 11:15 AM

Will hear from Arsene Wenger at half 12 on his former player.

And will hear from beckham on his world cup hopes and what he makes of the handball.

Sky sports.

30stone 20-11-2009 11:17 AM

30stone 20-11-2009 11:22 AM

The former Manchester United was in typically forthright form at a press conference today and hinted that the situation was pay-back for the dishonesty and lack of integrity he feels the FAI have shown in the past.

"I've been amazed at the commotion that's been going for the last few days," he told reporters.

"I think we're on about Henry's handball - of course he handled it - but I'd focus on why they [Ireland's defenders] didn't clear it.

"I'd be more annoyed with my defenders and my goalkeeper than Thierry Henry. How can you let a ball bounce in the six yard box? How can you let Thierry Henry get goalside of you?

"And as the ball bounced in the six yard box I'd be saying 'where the hell's my goalkeeper?'"

As for whether the integrity of the game had been damaged, as many at the FAI have asserted, Keane disagreed strongly.

"No," he stated, when asked. "No, not one bit.

"You look over the course of the campaign, Ireland had their chances in the two games. They never took it in the first game, they never performed.

"I heard a few interviews after the games where the manager was speaking about none of the players got booked. Maybe that was the problem. Maybe they should have got booked in the first game because we stood off France.

"In the second half we had opportunities to score and we didn't take it.

"But the usual FAI reaction - 'We've been robbed!', 'the honesty of the game!'

"There was one of the group games, I'm sure it was against Georgia, where Ireland got a penalty and it was one of the worst decisions I've ever seen which changed the whole course of the game.

"I think Robbie [Keane] scored the penalty and Ireland went on to win it.

"I don't remember the FAI saying after the game we should have had a replay.

"John Delaney? He's on about the honesty and integrity of the game. I wouldn't take any notice of that man.

"People forget the last time Ireland were at the World Cup in 2002. People seem to forget what was going on at that World Cup, and that man's on about honesty.

"I was one of the players. He didn't even have the courtesy to ring me. He got interviewed and all he said was 'I don't know where he is, he's on the island somewhere I think.'

"I've been involved with Ireland since I was 15 years of age, and that man didn't even have the decency to make a phone call.

"They should have cleared the ball.

"I think the Irish supporters probably deserve better, I think their manager and most of their players deserve better but I'm not sure the FAI deserve better.

"What goes around comes around."

Roy Keane.
