Welp if that happens.

Cal. 09-10-2016 07:03 PM

It does fit in with Shona's comments.

Spoiler:

Lee's death would help to progress Whitney as a character and give her stories as she copes with her grief, Linda would have a character led reason to leave The Square than just the normal 'oh Elaine took a tumble she needs help running her pub', Mick would have to cope with the death of his eldest son, Johnny coping with the death of his brother and the fact he's now the only Carter son and if Kim is included as well then her guilt and possible prosecution - people not believing that Lee killed himself and she didn't mean to do it (this is more DS speculation but I don't think they'd trivialise suicide with making everyone think Kim killed Lee)

Kim's supposed to have a big storyline too, so if Lee was to commit suicide by walking into the road, I guess it'd be interesting to see how she handles it.

Will. 09-10-2016 07:07 PM

Didn't Lee originally suggest that Whitney should get an abortion :shame:

Will. 09-10-2016 07:09 PM

Johnny is meant to have a huge storyline soon.

“I’m told there are some big plans and I’m excited to see them – but they’re keeping a lot under wraps!” he said teasing the new storyline but admitted he hadn’t yet been told what was in store for him.

“EastEnders has always had hard-hitting stories, so I’d like to get something that speaks to people,” he added to DigitalSpy.

Ashley. 09-10-2016 07:10 PM

To be honest Lee was supposed to commit suicide last year but they cancelled the storyline.

Marsh. 09-10-2016 07:11 PM

Was it confirmed that was the death DTC was talking about?

How odd that SOC would then go ahead with the same story.

Marsh. 09-10-2016 07:12 PM

I actually think it's too much too soon.

After the Lucy story, Paul, Peggy etc they need to lay off the brutal murders/suicides for a while.

Will. 09-10-2016 07:13 PM

I think another family needs to have a big storyline at Christmas/New Year. The Carters have been the centre of it all over the last few years.

Although saying that there aren't that many families.

Cal. 09-10-2016 07:13 PM

Especially if Ronnie and Roxy will end up both killed a week later.

Firewire 09-10-2016 07:14 PM

I stand by my comments from 2014 but I think Lee being killed in action would've been a fantastic storyline and something that isn't seen much (or at all?) in soaps.

I doubt it. The Beales have already got a big New Year story coming up.

Ashley. 09-10-2016 07:15 PM

I reckon the Mitchells will get the Christmas storyline this year. It was the Beales/Brannings last year and the Carters the year before. Plus this new producer seems to like the Mitchells (despite killing two of them off)

I kind of wish they'd done this. Definitely would have helped to cement the family into the show over the silly Shirley is Mick's mum and the whole mess over whether they liked Stan or not.

Yeah it only leaves the Carters/Mitchell's really then.

Shirley being Mick's mum was a terrible story decision especially when two of her children are still alive

No they haven't? They've had plots but the New Year this year when Dean was arrested is the only time they were centre.

This.
It actually only being thought of not long before it was revealed makes it worse.

Cal. 09-10-2016 07:18 PM

They arrived over Christmas 2013. They had the Linda rape/Mick being Shirley's son in Christmas 2014. Dean's arrest over New Year 2016.

Ross. 09-10-2016 07:18 PM

Why are you all forgetting the Fox-Mitchell baby

:clap1: Definitely. Especially because he hasn't offered anything as a full time character anyway.

I agree. It also has made their interactions feel awkward ever since I feel. It hasn't added a new dynamic either - Shirley would still be treated the same by the family if she was the aunt and not the grandmother.

I'd hardly say they had the Christmas 2013 story when Danny Dyer appeared in one scene. That was all about the Janine story wasn't it?

Christmas 2014 fair enough and New Year 2016 but they're nowhere near as overused as the Mitchell, Beale, Branning clans imo.
