My Chinese flatmate is so strange, he asks a lot of questions and always does this smirk-laugh thing afterwards and I can't tell if it's a cultural thing or if he's laughing at me :(

I just made my omelette for dinner and he came in and was like "you're only just making your dinner now?" and I'm like "yeah I was in work until 9" and he made this noise that sounded like he was laughing at me and then we didn't speak for the next 10 minutes while I was cooking :/
