Oh c'mon it was Monday night and the highlights at 9PM only averaged 1.0 which is worrying.

That should have got 1.3 atleast without plus 1 and you know it lol I know its hard to admit.

With the world cup approaching the only way this is going is down and if the ratings stay like this even then im thinking its going to rate lower than BB12/13.

If timeshift adds as much as BB14 (over 400k) then I don't it will be a problem. The overnights would need to average 1.2m to match BB12-BB13. And the producers have lower expectations because of the world cup, which is why the producers expected the ratings for BB13 to be lower than BB12 and BB14 (which was the case for BB14 but not BB12).

@bbuk_fans 10-06-2014 10:37 AM

They renewed it when before the start of BB13, which didn't do as well as last year. C5 know they have a tough year with the world cup, wimbledon etc. These events will obviously rate higher.

BB is the reason why Channel 5 is making profit and it brings in a totally new audience that the channel didn't have before, which arguably is the most important audience of them all, the 16-34's.

Yes, its an expensive show, don't see why they would chuck something that brings in that audience and is there flagship show.

Also, I think people need to remember about the World Cup can do the opposite effect.

Firstly, a lot of the matches won't clash with BB (I will watch most matches, but will only watch Italy if they clash with BB), and secondly, does anyone remember BB13? It was quite interesting that whenever BB faced a match (which wasn't England), the ratings for BB actually increased. I guess it's the sort of, "Anything but Euro/World Cup" mentality. One of the first matches of Euro 2012 averaged over 7m, but BB13 managed 1.6m if I remember correctly (up from the 1.2m from the previous day).

ppl like to overreact its doing about the same as bb12

Im expecting big timeshifts, officials from people watching online ect but that even though that makes the ratings higher it doesn't equate to Channel 5 making money does it?

They only really make money when people are voting and that's usually on eviction nights so for people catching up a day or 2 later on demand then they don't contribute anything financially.

I cant believe this first eviction is up against the football and Corrie.

Which was seen as a flop.

Yet BB12 launched to 600k more viewers and the final rated decently with 2.1 aswell.

its about the overall series average, not just the big events such as the launch and final that need to be looked at though

They make good money from advertisers though?

One of the info packs had a list of the advertisers this year, they are using Microsoft tablets for a kick off, then there's another big company providing the toiletries for the house can't remember who it is..

Then the advertising during the breaks will be bringing in some decent cash too.

@bbuk_fans 10-06-2014 10:44 AM

Viacom is a multi million dollar company so definitely will be able to afford it.

Of course I like it. Im simply stating if it's getting 1million now I dont see how that can be sustained with one of the biggest sporting events in the world on....

I know, how ridiculous about them facing that. Fair enough for the footie, but Corrie too! Jesus.

Yes it will rate pretty low, but to be honest, they have no other choice but to schedule it then. The show has to go post watershed and audience restricts at elstree only allow them to be there until a certain time. Only way around it would be to pre-record it and air it at a different time. But theres no way people would be happy about that.

daniel-lewis-1985 10-06-2014 10:51 AM

Im praying tonight does well.

Im guessing a 1.2 then with word of mouth usually a big plus 1 figure but that wont be on till 11pm.

It really does have a lot against it this year doesn't it lol if BB13 could get a 1.6 average whilst the Olympics were on heres hoping we can atleast match that but after the success of CBB in January and BB14 I think we were all expecting 1.5+ per highlights.

Theres definitely going to be another "gate" and quite a big one I imagine with Helen. I can see her getting violent or there being a serious bullying scandal and as bad as that sounds im hoping for it for the coverage it will get lol.

JohnnyBB 10-06-2014 10:53 AM

It nearlly went below a million on a monday night, the fact is the shows in serious trouble this year :(

Ratings analysis

Don't get me wrong, I love this series, but I feel like it's more suited to the time at 10pm at ALL times! The later it's on the better the share in viewing. So the numbers of viewers may be less but the number watching TV is much higher for the show. Take last night. On +1 the live feed section had a much higher share than with the highlights section.

I get that ratings are apparently 'bad'.. But the share for Channel 5 annually is around 3.9% to 4.2% and even with BB getting these 'bad' ratings, it's still several percent above its share, which is very respectable!

I feel like many people aren't watching purely because they do want to watch it at that time, all my friends prefer other shoes and simply watch it on demand the day after.. It seems to be the show people still love and adore, but view it when they want to. So who knows, maybe the demand services will provide money for the channel.. Which leads me to think, yes it's getting tried but surely they'd keep it.

A year or so ago, the commissioner of C5 stated 'we wouldn't get rid of BB because it isn't as successful as CBB, maybe we'll change the time it's on. You don't get rid of something this big without following up something to replace it'

I'm not sure what you think but I think ratings are still fair, CBB averaged 3 million in its official ratings.. Great when you consider most shows on C5 struggle to break the million viewer mark, which even BB has done every time bar 1 night so far.. Give it time!

Long live BB!

Jake. 10-06-2014 11:16 AM

Ngl, pretty disappointed... however, the live feed done pretty good

They're using loads of product placements this series. Even that ginger beer is a product placement.

Rob! 10-06-2014 12:35 PM

I mean... There's really nothing you can say to that. It wasn't up against anything substantial so this shouldn't have happened. Where did it come in it's slot?

JohnnyBB 10-06-2014 12:35 PM

Just face facts none can be assed watching this horrible lot.
