I kind of don't get it. Instead of just exploring this complicated situation between Kat/Alfie/Hayley or focussing on Alfie's dire financial situation or focussing on Hayley's alcoholism/suicidal tendencies the show just glosses over them briefly before throwing in random babies on doorsteps, people being thrown downstairs, hit by buses.
