That's what I'm saying - you'll never be done because your backers will throw money at the wall until eventually something sticks. Liverpool have to get everything at least 90% right, just to compete at the top.

i would be more positive, they are not far off from clicking, they just need to settle down

Wasn't a red just had people on VAR who hate us, let's not forget we had Gakpo have studs scraped across his chest last year that was deemed acceptable

The Slim Reaper 20-08-2023 05:47 PM

That said, I do think Chelsea are ruining careers with the contracts they're offering out, especially with the 7 year nonsense. Lavia would be starting for Liverpool, yet he could just be a league cup player for Chelsea.

I've said it a few times now, but spending rules are going out of the window. Saudi offers the chance of too much money for anyone across europe to refuse

I don't agree, the market has changed, throwing money at the problem wont help teams anymore. You build from the ground up, get a unit and stick with it, adding a couple players at the most during the windows. Arsenal are a good example of this.

Pep and his City team don't apply as they're on a different level. Even when Liverpool are poor they can get results, and have a solid enough united team. Ever Spurs ffs, they're fighting after losing their best player. Newcastle are solid enough. Man Utd, i dunno about them.

We have the might of, and powerhouses Luton Town on Friday, it'll be a bloodbath.

Nah, if we're gonna spend, what we needed to do was offer PSG a billion for Mbappe and hope for a striker who can score. The last striker we had who could score, here and there, was Costa, and he was let go by Wolves ffs,

It’s generally accepted that Chelsea will be punished eventually for rule violations but it could take some time ( like the City case) but Chelsea are stockpiling players in the event off a transfer embargo

Chelsea were about to go into administration in 2003 until Roman happened to fly over the stadium on his way to spurs, so I don't think you quite remember how quickly fortunes can change, especially when unlimited money is involved. You'll be fine, and never in the history of modernish football, has too much money been a problem or disadvantage. This squad with Nkunku up front and Poch in charge, will be a beast when everything comes together and settles down.

Saudi could be a way for the greenwood stuff to end. Not like they will have a problem with that recording, and united get in £30/40million in the process.

The only, and i mean only excuse is we have been plagued with injuries over the past couple years. That said, we are just so poor at times, and never look like a threat. It's depressing.

Maybe if Nkunku had been playing today he could have finished all those chances missed by Jackson. I dunno.

I hope you're right Slim. But i dunno, we flirted with Administration back then, but in my opinion, even if Roman hadn't come along Chelsea would have survived. Securing CL football on the last day would have confirmed our safety.

Also, yeah i agree with that about Greenwood.

Swan 20-08-2023 06:03 PM

Also, when Chelsea spent big money all those years ago, we actually brought decent players, not one hit wonders and overrated/hyped players like we do today.

Jose has offered to take him at Roma, so it's not like the guy doesn't have options

You did more than flirt, you were less than a week away from admin. Club would have survived, but you'd have dropped at least a division.

Nkunku is ridiculous - you've got an absolute star in the making with that dude. you're suffering recency bias because you're pissed at today, but the future for Chelsea, is (unfortunately) extremely bright.

Swan 20-08-2023 06:05 PM

We should have never sold Hazard.I know he bombed at Real due to injury etc, but he was a leader at Chelsea. He was a core player. We have no core now.

Remember the spine of Chelsea back then - Cech....Terry....Lamps....Drogba.

Crimson Dynamo 20-08-2023 06:07 PM

My point is, that win over your lot for CL qualification would have a meant a buyer would have came in, even if RA hadn't. But i still think even if we finished 5th, we'd have been alright. I know it was touch and go, but people say RA saved us from collapse, that's bollocks imo.

No, sorry Slim, it doesn't look bright at all.

Actually if you get expelled from the PL then you will likely be denied entry into the football league and would have to go right to the bottom of the pyramid

Swan 20-08-2023 06:18 PM

Im not being funny Slim (i was actually hoping to make a truce with you anyway, this place is like boiling pot at times, you know how it is), but how many Chelsea games have you watched in the past 9 months?

We look soooooo bad. We actually played ok in the first half today, and second half against Liverpool. But it's just nowhere near good enough.

That's not how administration works. What happened to Leeds is what I think would have happened to Chelsea, as they would have got a points deduction and be forced to sell most of their players at the time, with then strict limits on how much they could spend on replacements.

The worst they're gonna get is a points deduction, which for sure see us relegated at this rate.

it's very early days yet. I get the frustration with chelsea, but there is some genuine quality there. They dont have the champions league to worry about, which gives them much more time on the training ground. They will be fine
