'Nosferatu' - the 1970s Klaus Kinski version. It draws heavily from the 1922 silent original version of the film. But whereas the original images of massive, creeping, gliding shadows on high-ceilinged walls work really well, they work less well in this version because the scale of the sets and locations are so much smaller so makes it looks like the bad parody it is. The lighting, which was subtle in the original, is too obvious and over the top. Also, the original 1922 version was much closer to the the book 'Dracula', moreso than any other dracula film I've seen. This version was slow, lumbering, self-indulgent and amateurish. The script is pretentious, disconnected and sounds like each line was written by a separate person when it was their turn on the bong. 2/10

Casablanca. Practically perfect. 9/10

What on earth possessed you to watch all 3?

"Secret Window" (2004) on Sony TV last night.

Really enjoyed it even though I missed the beginning. Not a classic but a very well made film. Johnny Depp gave a great performance, when I first started watching I thought wow it'll be weird seeing him play a 'regular' character as opposed to the eccentric, heavy makeup characters. But then the character was anything but normal. lol

Loved the ending too.

Had all 4 on dvd

Just to add Species 4 was the worst of the lot

Also watched Taxidermia, um a strange film that was different. Not for the fate hearted but was a tad boring.

Inspired by Jack's thread, V for Vendetta. Seen it before, still good... 7/10

"Changeling" (2008)

Really good film. Shocking that it was true aswell, and I thought the ending was so very tragic. I think I'd rather know 100% one way or the other instead of having all those years of uncertainty. First film I've seen of Angelina Jolie acting in a non action film and she was very good, I managed to see her as her character at least rather than 'Jolie in another film'.
One too many closeups of her looking into the distance as one single tear drips down her cheek though, that was bordering on self-indulgent on the director's part.

Magnolia - Was okay, but found half characters pointless and boring, and I dont get the raining frogs part

Bend It Like Beckham, I only just realised Amira from Eastenders is in it.

Jords 12-04-2012 03:38 AM

Bridesmaids 9/10

Jake. 12-04-2012 08:51 AM

Human Centipede- There was more of a plot in there which I liked, and the film itself was pretty disturbing. 7/10

Seen Battleship earlier today, it was ok.

Now Charlie Wilson's War has just started.

How was Rihanna?

Harry! 13-04-2012 10:29 PM

I saw Battleship on Wednesday and it was amazing! I think Rihanna does a good job in the film, but could be featured more!
