The thing is (in both the UK and the US)... The centre ground of both has far more in common than either does with their fringes. If you were to completely scrap all of the parties and start over, in both the US and UK, you'd have a 3 party system... one very large, very centre party and then smaller parties to the left and right of it.

But both countries are heavily rooted in the traditional party structure that has roots in a very different world.

[President Joe Biden’s inauguration
was met Wednesday evening in
downtown Seattle with protest
and scattered property damage
from anti-fascist marchers who
have demonstrated for months.
A group, which numbered about
100 protesters early in the evening
and later dropped in size,
marched through downtown and called for
the abolition of Immigration and
Customs Enforcement.
In chants, they decried both former
president Donald Trump and Biden.
Police made at least three arrests as of 9 p.m.,
for property damage, burglary and an assault,
according to Seattle police.]

you only got far right

Utter bollocks.

Far right causes more issues than far left generally speaking (and as such tend to be publicized more). But denial that the far left exist at all is just..daft.

They smashed up The Democrat party headquarters last night too, so I believe. So as a Democrat, you'd think that "Gropey Joe the puppet President" would have something to say on that? We'll see if he does.

To be fair these elements of antifa who are out against both Republicans and Democrats are neither left nor right wing; they're anarchists, which makes the concepts of right and left somewhat moot. They're more accurately described as libertarian extremists, which is essentially the polar opposite of the collectivism of the far left.

I suspect the confusion is in people muddling up Libertarianism and Liberalism when they are really quite distinctly different.

The phrase "we are ungovernable", left-anarchism, is inherently incompatible with what is traditionally seen in the US as left wing ideology (socialism/ and communism)... they cannot be the "left wing" that US citizens are frequently warned about, yet it's being painted as such. I'm firmly of the opinion that as anarchistic extremists eschew all forms of official governance, the ideology is incompatible with "left & right" politics which is firmly rooted in hierarchy and government.

I came across this poll, that gives an idea of how the votes would go if America had a multi-party system.
