Agree, it went so well so you never know they might even before the 5000th if theres a Massive Storyline that gets the nation talking.

5000th Episode should be good though

ARCHIE assassin Stacey Branning will get away with murder - because EastEnders bosses are desperate for her to stay in the soap.

The fall guy (yet again) will be her poor hubby Bradley, with detectives blaming him for the Queen Vic killing.

A whopping 16.6 million viewers saw Bradders plunge to his death just before Stacey's confession in Friday night's live episode to mark the show's 25th birthday.

But bipolar Stacey - played by multi-award-winning Lacey Turner - won't be going down.

An insider told us: "Lacey is with us for the foreseeable future.

"But don't forget she told her father-in-law Max that she killed Archie - so there are plenty of twists and turns to come."

Yesterday Lacey, 21, revealed she nearly couldn't say the infamous words, "It was me, I killed Archie" - due to a bad sore throat.

Earlier in the day she'd missed the dress rehearsals because she'd lost her voice - then she lost it again straight after filming.

She said: "It's typical isn't it - just as the live is upon us I get ill and lose my voice but, to be honest, even though I felt terrible nothing was going to stop me doing it.

"Everyone has worked so hard on this episode and it is such a big part of TV history that I just knew I couldn't miss it. I just made sure I rested my voice throughout the day so I could save it for the filming."

And sexy singleton Lacey had NO inkling she was Archie's killer until 20 minutes before the show.

The plot was such a huge secret that the cast had to rehearse TEN possible endings. Lacey, 21, said: "I honestly couldn't believe it. I had no idea and didn't for one minute think it would be Stacey.

"Usually you are told when you get such a big storyline but this really must be the best-kept secret in EastEnders' history."

She went on: "I got a call to go and see Diederick (Santer, the executive producer) about 20 minutes before we went live. We all knew he was going to see Archie's killer but I didn't think for one second it would be me.

"To be honest it still hasn't sunk in and I can't believe I was the one who killed Archie Mitchell!"

She admitted that like the rest of Britain, she has spent the last few weeks wondering who bashed the rogue with the Queen Vic bust on Christmas Day.

Stacey was under suspicion because Archie had raped her - but on Friday it was revealed he was NOT the father of her unborn tot.

Lacey said: "I've been changing my mind on a daily basis. You watch the show and read the script looking for clues but each week you see another character and believe they have the motive."

And bookies, who took £500,000 of bets, also got it wrong, putting Stacey's brother Sean and little Ben Mitchell as the favourites. Despite Lacey's thrill at being at the centre of the world's biggest soap mystery since JR was shot in Dallas in 1980, she is gutted she'll no longer be working with Charlie Clements, who played Bradley.

The screen couple had got wed for the second time just a few hours before Bradders fell off a roof while being chased by cops.

Lacey said: "It was really sad but also really exciting. The show has given him such an amazing exit. I will really miss working with him.

"Charlie did us all really proud and I am just pleased I could be part of his leaving storylines.

"I don't know how he did those scenes, though, as I don't think I could even get up on that roof!"

Speaking about how her character will cope, she said: "I think everyone loves Bradley and Stacey being together. But at least in their last moments they knew how much they loved each other.

"It's going to be really sad for her without him, isn't it?"

After filming, Charlie said: "I'm drained of everything. It's crazy and it's been so emotional. But it's such a big way to go out.

"The live thing was fine for me. The four of us (Charlie, Lacey, Scott Maslen who plays his uncle Jack and Jake Wood as Max) have been getting together and going over and over the lines. It's like doing a piece of theatre."

Viewers saw some blips - like Scott fluffing his lines and Jake shoving his fingers down his throat to retch after Bradley's death.

But fans on web forums also had high praise for the show, which pulled off the death by moving a body-double stuntman and massive airbag in just 40 seconds.

Afterwards Archie actor Larry Lamb was told who'd killed him in a BBC3 spin-off show - seen by a record 4.3 million people. He thought it was screen daughter Ronnie and said: "I am surprised.

"They've done wonders. It's the biggest secret in telly ever."

I wonder how Max will react when Jack And Everyone else puts the blame on Bradley?

I mean would you want your Son who has been a good lad all his life, to be remembered as a killer?

Braden 21-02-2010 11:05 AM

Thank god Stacey gets away with the murder. If she had left, Kat would be the only decent Slater left.

flemin 21-02-2010 01:20 PM

So does this mean we've got another long term murderess living on the square?

Firewire 21-02-2010 02:13 PM

I'm so sad, I'm watching the omnibus on BBC2, waiting on the Friday's ep again.

Can't believe we all missed this Christmas day but just before the bust hits Archie you hear Stacey's voice in the background say ''Me and Bradley'' if you listen to it carefully:shocked:.

Patrick 21-02-2010 03:42 PM

Do you reckon they will bring Syd and Little Noah back for a week or somthing for Bradleys Funeral?

At what Second does she say that?

Is it just her voice? I always thought it was all the casts voice mixed together.

A blog from Diederick Santer:). Tonight's episode will be the last we see of Bradders, he's in the morgue:(:bawling:, poor Stacey.. Max and all his loved ones. Stacey will do a runner for a bit anyway which allows some of the other storylines to return.

Lucy sneakily takes the day off school. Despite Jane telling him to trust his daughter, Ian tracks Lucy down and finds her in a clinch with Leon.

Meanwhile, Zainab finds Syed and Christian together in the Masala Unit and the three argue. When the boys storm out, the door locks behind them and Zainab is trapped inside. Her cries for help are unheard and she begins to feel the first pangs of labour.

SO HAPPY!

I don't believe All About Soap:nono:. Inside Soap is the most reliable out of all the magazines and if they did have a reunion it won't be long till Tanya comes back with Lauren and Abi he'll soon be wanting her back;).

True but they make some stuff up to and it's meant to be like second reliable magazine after Inside Soap as it's kind of similar but shorter LOL:D.

There is always lots of insiders on DS or journos who write the soap sections in the papers.
