Doubt it, she hasnt had a #1 here in years, it's all about the promo really

This.

Her fans can't accept she's a fail now and has lost like most of her fans.

I guess but I can't see her doing any UK promo in the near future, she's not one for appearing on Daybreak, This Morning or whatever to promote her music. Although she did appear on The Graham Norton Show once but I don't think she's even planning to come over here to promote, the video is it's only hope. It has got good airplay over here, I hear it often on the radio and I expect the video will be played in heavy rotation too so I wouldn't rule out another #1 just yet.

Smithy 23-01-2011 06:38 PM

GaGa is @ #14 in the albums chart, with an album she released in January 2009, she ain't goin nowhere soon http://www.pawp.net/forum/images/smilies/4genie.gif

I would, she's filming the video atm, so another 2/3 weeks before it's on TV? by that time sales will have probably peaked, and she'll have a lot of cometition, Rihanna, Ke$ha, GaGa and Adele are all releasing and promoting

She is hardly a fail. Her first single which was only released last Monday (so she lost a whole day of sales, new songs usually released on Sunday's) debuting at #6 on the charts without any promo or video, just radio airplay is very good.

Yeah but when the video is released, it's very likely that it's going to be brilliant. It's directed by Jonas Akerlund who did the Paparazzi and Telephone video, he's well known for his music videos. Look at Telephone, no way would it have got #1 without the video, it was played in heavy rotation and yes it did get brilliant airplay and she did a bit of promo for it but without the video, it wouldn't have been #1. Could be a similar situation with Britney. I can't see Rihanna being much competition, S&M will probably peak in the top 3 but I don't see her getting another #1 with it. Ke$ha may be doing promo then but no doubt We R Who We R will have peaked by then, it's looking likely to be next week's no. 1 and I can't see it spending more than 2 weeks there. Gaga is competition but I could still see them both getting #1's, depending when Brit's video is released. Adele, great voice but I don't see her as competition? Rolling In the Deep has peaked already and she won't be releasing another single for a little while I would have thought?

Locke. 23-01-2011 06:52 PM

I'm guessing from her past videos that it will be absolutely dreadful

I just don't see her getting #1 two or three weeks after the song/video is released, generally her songs peak then fall quickly, because generally her fanbase buy it all in the first week. Plus we have to take into account the quality of the song, which to be perfectly honest isn't that great, she's had debut songs which are a lot better

It's not very likely but you never know, with songs being released as soon as they get their first radio play from next month, it's going to become a regular thing to see songs debut at low positions and gradually climb up the charts. I'm sure that HIAM hasn't peaked yet though, it will probably drop or either stay in the same position next week and then will drop a few more places until the video's released and then it'll peak in the top 5 at least. I guess but the reception to it has mostly been positive, a lot of people seem to agree that it's better than 3 and Womanizer. It's not as good as Toxic but it's a good comeback song.

Smithy 23-01-2011 07:22 PM

I just don't see it going any higher, even with a video :/

It's fallen 3 places today alone, and there's quite a few songs being released over the next couple weeks, which won't get #1 but will probably get top 10.

But we'll see :joker:

I really hope it doesn't peak at #6  I have a feeling it won't, the video will get it into the top 5 at least. It'll be the same with Avril's new song, that has had a really bad start at #30 but no doubt it'll peak in the top 10 when the video's released (tomorrow I think?)

If Womanizer can peak at #3 (I know that was largely down to the XF performance) I'm sure HIAM can too. Peaking one position more than 3 would be a travesty. :(

Was hoping for Jessie J to get number one, but doubtful now!

Second single might after the recognition she'll get for off the back of the BRITs.

Callum 25-01-2011 03:24 PM

Ke$ha is on course for her first UK #1 with We R Who We R :D and Adele has 67,000 first day sales of her new album which will be #1 on Sunday

They aren't the only people I like tbh. :/ But to write someone off just because they shaved their head or because they are little weird is a bit closed minded tbh.
