And you know how the public works Marsh, they vote on who's threatening to them, or on who's behaviour has been the worst that week, which neither was won by Adjoa unless you're some sort of prude.

Well none of the three up for the vote had done anything "terrible" yet one of them had to go, so I don't see what your point is.

Adjoa was deluded and didn't understand why she was boring. Ok, your point is?

You've clearly never been around racists to not get how that could be offensive.:joker:

Is that it was more than what Eileen had done in terms of contributing to the series.

Any word in the English language can be offensive if you twist its context enough.

That =/= racism.

Racism has intent behind it.

Adjoa not understanding why she was boring after being evicted contributed what to the series?

Adjoa was actually nice so it was surprising as to why she was evicted and slaughtered by the crowd (hence why this thread was made).

That all happened after Adjoa was evicted.

There aren't many housemates who don't get slaughtered these days. We'll need a little bit more to go on to see the racism.

So? Mock mentioned overall contribution to the series. His comment on Adjoa was also after her eviction.

it's easy for white people to be like "it's not about race" or the classic "don't be ridiculous" when they will never understand what it's like to walk in a black persons shoes (or any other ethnic minority). This is still a white persons country and racism is in more places than you think, it also doesn't have to be in your face or vocal, there are many other ways people show racism and prejudice behavior

We're not having a general discussion on racism, nor has anyone said racism does not exist, or pretending nothing's ever about race.

But the actual specific circumstances around which this thread was made does not hold water.

sorry. I looked at the 17 pages of discussion and knew it wouldn't be on the same topic as page one

Just been looking at the eviction stats for BB1 and Claire was evicted with 79% of the vote in week 7 and Mel was evicted with 69% of the vote in week 8. So where is the racism?

Both women were booted out for flirting and the white woman got a higher percentage.

And both were evicted the first time they faced a public vote, so where's the disparity in their treatment?

:umm2:

Melanie got 69% in a 3 way vote, whereas Claire got 79% in a head to head vote. Yes, both landslide results.

Not to mention 69% in a 3 way vote is bigger than 79% in a 2 way vote. You only need at least 33.3% to secure you an eviction in a 3 way vote. 69% is more than double that, which is how many votes went against Mel.

Weak argument.

No one here is trying to say the public outright hates all black people the point is that because of the negative stereotype associated with being a black woman black female housemates get harder time.

Jason. 27-07-2015 02:55 AM

I wouldn't be surprised if Darren was 2nd in the voting that eviction.

Neither would I.

Because both Darren and Melanie were up against the following week's winner, Craig.

His point was a black person received the most votes in a 3 way vote. I was pointing out 2 of the 3 nominated were black so it's more likely. :hmph:
