who is favourite to exit the contest first?

Cherie 13-07-2022 08:17 AM

So the 'Ready for Rishi' domain was registered in December 2021

joeysteele 13-07-2022 08:26 AM

Apparently Rees-Mogg would refuse a Cabinet post if Sunak wins.

There's one plus for Sunak then for me.

However I do think Sunak has been planning a leadership challenge a fair while now as Cherie has just posted information on.

Thats fine Rich Rishi hates him

Penny Mordaunt would beat all her Conservative leadership rivals in a head-to-head contest, new polling of the party’s grassroots suggests.

Ms Mordaunt, the international trade minister, led the candidates in a series of run-offs carried out by the Conservative Home website.

Kemi Badenoch, the former equalities minister, was second while Liz Truss, the Foreign Secretary, was third. Ms Badenoch would beat all her fellow candidates except Ms Mordaunt.

In fourth and fifth were Suella Braverman, the Attorney General, and Nadhim Zahawi, the Chancellor.

Rishi Sunak - 45
Penny Mordaunt - 25
Liz Truss - 21
Tom Tugendhat - 20
Jeremy Hunt -20
Kemi Badenoch - 20 or above
Nadhim Zahawi - 20 or above
Suella Braverman - 20

I would assume Suella out first.

bots 13-07-2022 08:35 AM

if the threshold is 30, i would say anyone other than rishi or penny are in danger. Liz is basically the Boris legacy party so she is probably safe too

arista.
How do you think Zahawi will do in the vote today.
I can't stand him myself really but you follow intensely Con issues
What's your feeling as to Zahawi after his farce in the 2 day period leading up to Johnson's resignation.

He is already supporting Rishi, so I think he knows he is toast, but laying down a marker to keep his job

I think it was after Christmas that Rishi's non dom status was revealed leaked in retaliation I would think

Crikey.
I can't keep up with them Cherie, :joker:

Actually I don't think Sunak should win this myself.
To be fair, Johnson is rightly condemned for his fine for breaking his covid laws.

Had he just brought the gathering to an end he wouldn't have been fined.
However Sunak was fined too.
So as Chancellor he should have said the gathering was wrong.

It's not really fair that he gets to carry on regardless while Johnson has that fine as part of his downfall.

Zahawi though, I've never taken to him.
They termed Gove a snake, I think Zahawi earns that badge much more than Gove.

Zizu 13-07-2022 08:53 AM

Who is if who has just said they would have Boris on their cabinet ??

This sounds like someone is throwing the dice / taking a calculated risk ..

i think they are all plotting constantly hoping that someone messes up along the way

I've always thought that Zahawi was a bit thick. He fitted in rather well with all the other cabinet dimwits which seemed to be in abundance in the various Boris's cabinets.

Personally, i think Ben Wallace has played it right. I don't think any of this lot are up to the task of doing whats needed to get the country in recovery. It will be a labour government in 2 years, they will have 4 years of misery trying to put the country right and then it will be perfect timing for Ben to take the leadership and another Tory government

I think it’s Zahawi who has just said he will offer Boris a seat in his cabinet

Tom Tugendhat, who last night made it onto the Tory leadership ballot, has called a snap
press conference in Westminster.

He is expected to use it to criticise Rishi Sunak's stance on defence spending.

It is expected to get underway imminently.
