On BBC Newsdrive,
@patrickharvie
confirms that the Greens WILL support VONC in
@HumzaYousaf
. Now all eyes on
@AshReganALBA
- she has his fate in her hands. Surely she can’t save his failing Government?

Alex Salmond’s Alba Party will now decide whether Humza Yousaf is forced to resign as
First Minister as the Scottish Greens said they would vote against him in a confidence vote
at Holyrood.

The Scottish Greens have Concluded

They will vote against Yousaf

Crimson Dynamo 25-04-2024 04:45 PM

Ash Regan of Alba will now write to Usless setting out her demands (which I think will be very unpalatable) and if he does not grant them all she will vote and tip the balance against Useless

The SNP would then have 28 days (to appoint Kate Forbes)

he is totally f.u.c.k.e.d.

Have all of them
got the numbers to get him out?

BBC News Text :
[There is a smorgasbord of different stories
on Friday's front pages. The Guardian headlines
on Scotland's first minister Humza Yousaf being
in "peril" as the Scottish Greens say they will
back a no confidence motion against him.

The Greens said they would vote against
the man who "betrayed" them,
the paper reports, after the first minister ended
their power-sharing deal with his
Scottish National Party.]

Nice of Ash to open her door

joeysteele 26-04-2024 08:56 AM

Mathematically he's the only one who with the SNP can have a chance to govern in Scotland.
With 63 seats.

However it's going to be hard to get any major or controversial policies passed.

There's no other combinations that could govern in the SNPs place.
No way the Cons would support a Labour led governing body.
No way LABOUR would support a Con led governing body either.

If he's defeated, he could resign and let the SNP try a new leader in place.
Or it's starting to look if he's defeated, the mood will be for fresh assembly elections to be held.
If the SNP cannot get policies passed.

Unless he can win the Greens back or tempt the Lib Dems with anything.
Then this looks like more paralysis now for the Scottish assembly.

arista 26-04-2024 08:59 AM

Do the LibDems
want Scotland to be free of the UK?

If Ash is to force improvements on womens rights, she will never get a better opportunity than now. So i expect she will prop up the SNP

I was thinking that, that's the most likely type of thing for which she was asking.

the other side of it is that the no confidence vote has no constitutional weight, so the SNP really don't need to care if they lose the vote or not. It won't force any resignations or an election

Then I suppose he still has no true incentive to pretend to care about women's rights...

Scottish Labour announce plan to force early Holyrood election

Anas Sarwar has announced Labour will try to force a vote of no confidence in the whole Scottish Government as Humza Yousaf fights to save his political life.

Mr Yousaf, the First Minister of Scotland, is facing a vote of no confidence on his leadership next week but Mr Sarwar, the Scottish Labour leader, said this morning he will seek a broader vote in an attempt to force an early Holyrood election.

He told LBC: “I think it is now a matter of when, not if Humza Yousaf resigns as First Minister. But I think it would be completely untenable for the SNP to presume they can impose another unelected first minister on Scotland.

“That is why Scottish Labour has said already we don’t have confidence in Humza Yousaf.

“But today we will also be laying a motion before Parliament saying that the Scottish Parliament does not have confidence in this Scottish Government because ultimately I think it is the people of Scotland that should decide who leads this country not just a small group of SNP members.”
