The woman was beaten because she wasn’t up to the standard her opponent was, then cried and blamed her opponent. Awful sportsmanship. |

Italian boxer Angela Carini, who abandoned her Olympic bout against Algeria's Imane Khelif inside 46 seconds, says she "wants to apologise" to her opponent for how she handled the moments after the fight.
Khelif is one of two athletes who have been cleared to compete in the women's boxing in Paris, despite having been disqualified from last year's Women's World Championships for failing to meet eligibility criteria. The 25-year-old's participation in the Games has proved controversial, leading the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to defend her right to compete. "All this controversy makes me sad," Carini told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport. "I'm sorry for my opponent, too. If the IOC said she can fight, I respect that decision." Carini, also 25, said abandoning the fight had been a mature step to take, but she expressed regret at not shaking hands with Khelif afterwards. "It wasn't something I intended to do," Carini said. "Actually, I want to apologise to her and everyone else. I was angry because my Olympics had gone up in smoke." She added that if she met Khelif again, she would "embrace her". After taking a punch to the face inside 30 seconds during Thursday's fight, Carini went to the corner for her coach to fix her headgear. After briefly resuming, she returned to her corner once more and stopped the fight. Carini later told BBC Sport: "It could have been the match of a lifetime, but I had to preserve my life as well in that moment." The Russia-led International Boxing Association (IBA), which carried out the tests last year, said Khelif "failed to meet the eligibility criteria for participating in the women's competition, as set and laid out in the IBA regulations". Khelif has always competed in the women's division and is recognised by the IOC as a female athlete. "The Algerian boxer was born female, was registered female, lived her life as a female, boxed as a female, has a female passport," IOC spokesperson Mark Adams said on Friday. Later on Friday, the IBA president Umar Kremlev said his organisation would offer Carini $100,000 (£78,000) - which is the prize money it is offering gold medallists at the Games. That money would be split with half going to the boxer, a quarter to her trainer and a quarter to her federation. |
Why have you highlighted her and she? She ain't exactly going to say he and him when shes apologising for her reaction to the fight.

Just so the idiots in here can see that the woman they’re feigning outrage for also says she’s a woman who’s lacklustre apology comes too late.

Women have to be more secure in themselves than not to survive in this world now. The people making these decisions are not the average person and won't face the same negative consequences, so they will keep pushing the line as long as it can go until they are directly impacted. It's a powertrip. There are just too many now who will still get off on the fact we watch in shock and awe. It's become part of the entertainment factor of "transforming" these sports.
I feel saddest for the younger women who worked their asses off to make it this far, only to find the world is now working against their favor because people like to score political points. |

Someone with higher testosterone levels will have an advantage in a combat Sport, that's just the truth. I don't agree with the abuse that she's getting on the Internet as it isn't her fault, but she does have an advantage over her fellow competitors in the Welterweight division. And I do acknowledge that she has lost fights tbf, it still doesn't change the fact that she has an unfair advantage over her opponents, it just means that the opponents that have beaten her are exceptionally good. @Ammi I will agree with what someone said on Twitter, I can't believe that this topic is getting more discussion than a convicted Paedophile playing at the Olympics. Because whilst I agree that she shouldn't really be facing off against other women personally, at least she isn't scum of the earth that didn't really face justice. |

and yes, are all women basketball players trans then? because they are taller than other women |
…there can be injuries in any sport, Nicky…but in terms of safety/risk assessments etc…combat sport has to be assessed with no ‘advantaged athlete’ taking part against another because it does involve that combat as the sport itself…
|
Imane Khelif is a woman since birth
more than enough evidence is that transitioning is illegal in a country like Algeria Imane is a woman, it is women's boxing, she is perfectly eligible, and if you face her in a match, then well better come prepared, train harder for that match i'd say this thread is literally so embarrassing me, i am tempted to leave this forum sadly :( also i don't care if ur against Imane, but i just have know what is cyberbullying, what is going way too far SHE ISN'T TRANS, but just has more muscle than other women, and if she truly had advantages, she would've won everything in her career so far, but she hasn't |

…I’m not against Imane, I completely feel for her that this is happening and there is more than one concern and ‘danger’ here…but this is about an Olympic athlete as a primary/immediate thing while the events are in progress… and about the safety of the fighters in terms of there being no ‘advantaged’ competitor…(…I don’t know if she is advantaged…)…but none of this culture war stuff is helpful to her either….
