'Hollyoaks': Fabrizio Santino teases new romance, Ziggy future

Quote:

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/20/618x620/so...ggy-roscoe.jpg

For our latest Hollyoaks interview, Digital Spy chatted to newcomer Fabrizio Santino about life playing Ziggy Roscoe.

Ziggy's flirtatious behaviour has already made a quick impact on some of the local ladies, but viewers will see that one girl in particular catches his eye in the next few weeks.

Here, Fabrizio tells us about the future romance for Ziggy and his time at Hollyoaks so far.

How well have you settled in at Hollyoaks?
"I think I've settled in very well and it's all going great. I'm enjoying my time here and everyone has made me feel welcome. I'm really liking the character of Ziggy and I'm having a lot of fun.

"I've moved up to Liverpool for the role and that's been very exciting. I'm living with two of my on-screen brothers - Charlie Clapham and Alfie Sykes - and they're fantastic to be with as well. Liverpool's a nice city, although I still don't know it very well! I do miss London terribly, but it feels good to be here for work and it makes me feel like I'm growing up!"

How did you feel when you finally got the role? We've heard from the other Roscoe boys that it was a long audition process!
"Yeah, the audition process was massive. To begin with, I had no idea that there were over 2,000 boys auditioning for the role, but it did become quite competitive. I knew that I really had to fight for this. I had four call-backs so it was quite a tough challenge, but I knew that I had a chance after the fourth one.

"When you've fought for something so hard and you end up getting it, it's just a massive relief. I was completely overjoyed and utterly pleased. It's good to know that you've done well as it raises your confidence for the future. If the truth be known, us actors are very sensitive and it can be tough to get rejected, so to be successful with a role is a big confidence boost."

We know that you've had other roles, but does this feel like your big break?
"Yeah, as it's very challenging and every single day is different from the other work that I've done. In the past, I've done bits of filming where I've been working for a week or two, or even just a few days, but this is literally every day.

"Because it's a regular job, I'm getting to learn more about myself and my acting ability. It's the biggest challenge I've had, absolutely."

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/21/618x411/so...coe-family.jpg

We've all seen Ziggy for ourselves, but how do you describe him to people?
"I think Ziggy is a lovely boy. He's joyful, charming, cheeky and loyal to his family. He's also a bit of a fantasist and a bit of a dreamer! It's also probably fair to say that he's quite vain as he takes pride in his appearance.

"Ziggy loves the chit-chat and he loves his family, too. I think he's a nice guy who doesn't take himself too seriously. He's not the loser type, he's a lover and a fighter. He does what he can, he's got his aim in life and that's to end up living on the French or Italian Riviera. Ziggy aims high!"

What kind of a reaction have you seen from the Hollyoaks fans?
"It's been fantastic. I'm always very, very overwhelmed because there always seem to be fans waiting outside the studios who love the character of Ziggy. I was a little bit concerned at first at how people might react, but I think people love the charming, warm and cheeky sides of him. I'm getting really nice feedback and if I can keep it consistent, hopefully I can't go wrong."

What's coming up for Ziggy storyline-wise?
"There's going to be a lot going on with Ziggy and his brothers. There's always a drama at the garage!

"In terms of Ziggy on his own, there's one lady in the village who he really falls for in the next few weeks. He becomes smitten with her and he starts constantly trying to get her attention. She's also trying to get his attention, so there's a lot of romance in the air and some intimate scenes here and there. But you'll have to wait and see how it all develops.

"You'll also see that a bit of conflict develops between Ziggy's brothers and the girl in question, but it's nothing that Ziggy can't handle. Whatever Ziggy wants, he'll get!"

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/27/618x928/so...ggy-roscoe.jpg

Ziggy is known for falling in and out of love quite quickly. Could this new love interest be the one who changes that?
"Could she be the one? Like I said, Ziggy is a dreamer so in the moment he'll probably think that she's the one, but give it half an hour and he'll see someone else and probably fall for them! That's just how he is - he can't say no. If someone approaches Ziggy, who knows what he'd do given half the chance? I have no idea how Ziggy thinks from one minute to the next!"

Is there potential there for Ziggy to be a good boyfriend, though?
"I do think that if Ziggy was to really fall in love with someone, he'd definitely be a great boyfriend. Ziggy is still growing up and he can sometimes play the field but maybe one day somebody will get him good. That's when he'll really fall in love, settle down and you'll see a different side to him."

We've seen lots of comedy from Ziggy so far. Would you like to explore a more serious storyline further down the line?
"Definitely. I do like the comedy moments that they've given me. I've never really considered myself to be a comic actor, but the stuff they've given me has been great.

"I would like to see a darker side to Ziggy at some point. Maybe there could be a point where Ziggy plummets and things go wrong. I think there'd be a good storyline there. But I do think that's a lot further down the line. Right now you need to see Ziggy at his best, and then it makes it more dramatic when you see the other side of him."

Are Charlie and Alfie good housemates?
"They're great housemates - they're fantastic! They're very tidy, very helpful and we all gel very well. We've got a lot in common even though our ages are different. Boys will always be boys no matter how big or small you are, so we all get on very well!"

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/20/618x411/so...ly-arrival.jpg

Is it strange to have Charlie younger than you in real life but older on screen?
"Well, I think in work I respect the fact that Freddie is older than Ziggy, so I play down to Charlie in the scenes. But obviously out of work, Charlie knows where he stands with his older brother! (Laughs.) I think he'd quite honestly tell you that himself!"

What is Gillian Taylforth like to work with?
"Fantastic. As I always say to anyone, she's one of my own. We come from a very similar culture and a very similar upbringing, as we both come from inner city London. I'm Peckham and she's Islington, so she's very authentic and so am I.

"I think when you get two authentic Cockneys together, there are fireworks. Gillian is a cracking actress as well and we gelled straight away. I've actually just done a scene with her and we had some great feedback that we work very well together. I think that's because we have the same background."

Are there any cast members you'd love to work with more?
"I wouldn't mind working more with Nick Pickard, as I think that'd be a good one. He's been on the show for so long that he knows it back to front, so he's very confident and a very good actor. I could see myself doing some scenes with him.

"It's the same with Ashley Taylor Dawson. I've done bits and bobs with Ashley, but a nice clash or a nice storyline would be great. Maybe Ziggy could also spark a friendship or conflict with Dodger, as it's nice to break away from your family and explore something new."

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/22/618x459/so...aks-3623-3.jpg

Is there any pressure to stay in shape given some of your scenes so far?
"I don't think there's any pressure at all. If you take regular exercise anyway and you want to keep in shape as an individual, then you'll find your own discipline and do it. Speaking for myself, I'm very disciplined at the gym anyway and if I know I've got to take my top off the next day, I'll work just a little bit harder!"

Do you share any similarities with Ziggy?
"There are a few similarities, absolutely. I've always been a bit of a dreamer too, and a few of those dreams have come true! I also take pride in my appearance I'm into fashion too. I'm into men's tailoring and grooming, so I do share some similarities, but there are also some major differences too."

'Hollyoaks' to air dark twist in Sinead O'Connor storyline

Quote:

Hollyoaks teenager Sinead O'Connor will be tempted into prostitution next week, Digital Spy can confirm.

Viewers have already seen Sinead (Stephanie Davis) start a career in 'clipping' - seducing men and stealing their money without sleeping with them.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/26/618x885/so...d-o-connor.jpg

sleazy policeman DS Trent.

The story twist plays out after Sinead chooses DS Trent as the next target in her clipping scam, failing to realise that he's part of the police force.

The pair head to a hotel room together, but when Trent catches Sinead rifling through his wallet, he reveals his true identity. Sinead fears that he's there to arrest her, but instead he shows his true colours by propositioning her with £200.

Although it's a tough decision to make, Sinead ultimately accepts the offer and sleeps with DS Trent.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/24/618x452/so...aks-3635-1.jpg

Show bosses have promised that the storyline will be explored sensitively. Sinead makes the difficult choice as she is desperate for money and to provide for her baby daughter Katy, but as the plot plays out, the dangers of what she is doing will become apparent to all.

Viewers will also be directed to various help and support organisations, via the official Hollyoaks website, which offer advice to anyone in a similar position to Sinead.

Interesting!

'Hollyoaks': Lucy Dixon talks Tilly, Esther and new 'Later' series

Quote:

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/28/618x590/so...ly-evans-2.jpg

Hollyoaks fans can expect testing times for Tilly Evans's relationship with Esther Bloom this week.

Just as the couple are planning to spend the night together for the first time, Esther's grandmother Frankie starts to interfere, fearing that their romance is moving too quickly.

Here, Lucy Dixon - who plays Tilly - chats to Digital Spy about the storyline and what else is coming up for her character.

Are you pleased that Tilly and Esther have finally got together?
"I am! People might remember that Tilly was introduced to the show in a special week in Abersoch in 2011. That's when she first met Esther and they had a summer romance. It was all very lovely, but then Tilly was supposed to be moving back down to London and didn't want to take it any further as she thought they wouldn't see each other again.

"We got a lot of interest from the fans through that week, which was really nice. To get so much attention from my first week on screen was brilliant. When Tilly and Esther finally got together second time round, it was great because the people who tweeted us in 2011 got back in touch, saying that they love the relationship and they hope it lasts."

Did you always expect that the Tilly and Esther dynamic would be revisited?
"Like the audience, I was in the dark and I wasn't sure! When I was filming my scenes with Amy Downham who played Jen, I didn't have a clue what would happen next. Even when it came to the Tilly and Jen relationship, I really wasn't sure which path they wanted to take with it.

"However, while all that was happening, I did still keep having odd scenes with Jazz [Franks, who plays Esther]. The two characters have always been quite close and there's always been something there. Particularly when Tilly was going through her heartbreak with Jen, Esther was there for her."

What can we expect this week when Frankie starts to interfere?
"Tilly is a little bit frustrated by that. The relationship has been such a slow-burner, but now it's really forming into something as they're official now. They're just about to have a passionate, romantic night together as Ruby has snuck them upstairs to The Dog flat, when Frankie bursts in. Tilly is a little bit annoyed to say the least, and especially so when Frankie wants to split them up. But you'll have to wait and see whether Tilly and Esther can make it through this…"

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/26/618x436/so...aks-3642-3.jpg

It's been announced that you'll be in Hollyoaks Later this year. Are you excited about it?
"Massively! When I found out, I was literally jumping for joy. I used to watch Hollyoaks before I was in it, and I remember watching the Later series with Steph Dean's cliff-top showdown. I also watched last year's which was all to do with Brendan and Cheryl's pasts.

"Watching it at the time, I was thinking, 'I wish I was in Hollyoaks Later because it looks incredible!' The camera, the writing and the locations are all brilliant. I can't give too much away, but the scripts this year are fantastic."

Have you started filming it yet?
"My strand hasn't started yet, so I'm really excited to get going on it! It's going to be brilliant and I can't wait for the fans to see it. You'll get to see a different side of all the characters involved, so it's going to be very exciting."

A lot of fans seem keen to see more of Tilly! Does she have some busy times ahead?
"I hope so! I've been getting a lot of tweets about that, and it's lovely to hear that people miss you when you're not on screen. I think the fans will be happy with what's coming up. When I received the scripts for what I'm currently filming - which will be on screen around September or October - I had a really big smile on my face. There's some great stuff coming up and it's going to be a different side of Tilly that people haven't seen yet."

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/14/618x447/so...aks_3321_2.jpg

The Jen/Tilly - aka 'Jelly' - relationship had a big reaction. Are you proud of the impact it had?
"I'm hugely proud. I almost can't believe it myself. There are so many people who really invested in the Jen and Tilly relationship and I even get people tweeting me today saying, 'I wish Jen could come back!' and 'I was gutted with how it ended!'

"Some people are really vocal about it and they don't think Tilly should be with Esther. There are fans who think Jen should come back and have a wonderful romance with Tilly again. It's so sweet that people did invest so much time in it, because that's your goal as an actress. Myself and Amy were over the moon with the reactions we had from everybody.

"Unfortunately, the relationship was illegal because Jen was Tilly's teacher. Because of that, the producer and the writers were very careful with how the story arc went. We had to show the relationship turn sour, because ultimately they couldn't be together forever."

Has life changed much on set since so many of the sixth formers left last year?
"It's definitely a lot quieter now that the sixth formers aren't there! There would always be at least seven or eight of us all filming together every day, which meant there was a real buzz and energy. Now there's usually two or three of us, so it has been a big change and a big difference.

"But it has been exciting, because Tilly has stepped up a gear and we're going to see her move onto other storylines and interact with different people. I do miss the guys so much and I caught up with some of them recently. It was great to see them, because we all get along so well together."

'Hollyoaks' Patrick Blake to turn nasty with Maxine Minniver again

Quote:

Hollyoaks' Patrick Blake will frighten girlfriend Maxine Minniver once again when he lashes out at her in an angry temper.

Viewers will have seen Patrick (Jeremy Sheffield) turn nasty with Maxine (Nikki Sanderson) a few weeks ago when he threatened her for embarrassing him.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/12/300x225/so...rick-blake.jpg

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/24/300x225/so...e-minniver.jpg

Patrick's latest outburst will happen after he takes Maxine out for dinner, despite the fact she has already made plans with Ash.

Over dinner and in a bid to fit in with the Blakes, Maxine jokes with Dodger and Sienna about Patrick's OCD. However, she is unaware of how uncomfortable Patrick is during the conversation.

Back at the flat later on, Patrick makes Maxine very aware of how she made him feel. He then starts throwing things out of the kitchen to Maxine's horror.

'Hollyoaks' Dan Tetsell: 'Jim McGinn role was a surprise'

Quote:

Hollyoaks star Dan Tetsell has admitted that he was shocked to land a regular role on the soap.

The actor arrived on screen last November as quirky lawyer Jim McGinn, who has since become a permanent fixture in the village by buying into the club and dating Carmel McQueen (Gemma Merna).

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/14/618x564/so...jim-mcginn.jpg

Tetsell told Inside Soap of his Hollyoaks success: "It was quite a surprise to get the call. I'd auditioned previously for the part of a lowlife businessman who tried to pick up Mercedes in a hotel, and I didn't get that.

"I went away thinking, 'I look like a lowlife businessman, surely?' But when the role of Jim came up and I got it, I thought, 'I'm never going to get this offer again - I've got to do it!'"

He continued: "I watched the first ever [Hollyoaks] episode, which dates me horribly I suspect! My flatmate from that time is very excited that Nick Pickard is still in it - frankly, that scored me big points with my friends. They all think it's absolutely hilarious that I'm now hanging around with all these attractive, beautiful people!"

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/28/618x693/so...m-mcginn_1.jpg

Tetsell is now hoping to share more screen time with Joe Tracini, who plays Dennis Savage.

He said: "We know each other from the sitcom world. He once auditioned for a show that I'd written, but it didn't get made, so neither of us won on that one! When I told people that I'd got the job on Hollyoaks, they assumed I'd be playing Dennis's dad."

'Hollyoaks' Stephen Billington: 'Fans will keep liking Danny'

Quote:

Hollyoaks newcomer Stephen Billington has insisted that his character's secrets won't make him unpopular with viewers.

The actor arrived on screen this week as Danny Lomax, a new love interest for John Paul McQueen (James Sutton).

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/04/300x225/so...ul-mcqueen.jpg

Show bosses have already warned that there are "a lot of skeletons" in Danny's closet which could make a big impact on the local residents in future stories.

Billington told Hollyoaks' official website: "Danny has a whole side to him that's completely different to me. It's a side that will be revealed over time, so I'm not about to give any spoilers.

"You'll still like him, but he's much more complex than he first appears. Aren't we all?"

He also described Danny as "charming, fun, caring, complex and secretive".

Billington previously played villain Greg Kelly on Coronation Street.

'Hollyoaks' boss Bryan Kirkwood shares show gossip, teasers

Quote:

In our fourth producer interview of the summer, Digital Spy caught up with Hollyoaks boss Bryan Kirkwood to hear about his plans for the soap's future.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/28/M/soaps-ho...n-kirkwood.jpg

After a strong 12 months for the show - including five wins at the British Soap Awards - Bryan gave us an exclusive insight into what fans can expect next.

Read on below to find out about plans for new characters connected to a Hollyoaks favourite, the upcoming 18th anniversary and much more!

We've seen lots of positive changes to Hollyoaks in the past year. What are your thoughts on the show's current state of play?
"I think we're in a strong position, as the audience seems to have responded well to the changes that we've made. I was conscious of not 're-branding' or 're-launching' the show again.

"For me, the formula is simple - it's finding the right mix of big soap stories, rites of passage teen stories, along with big, heartfelt love stories. If we strike that right balance and broaden Hollyoaks out to a family show, rather than focusing on one age group over another, I think that's when we get the best response from the audience."

Do you have any particular aims for the next few months? Is there anything that you feel the show should be doing more or less of?
"It's always a work in progress. Running one of these shows means that you never get to the finish line - there's always something else to oversee. Regarding the three types of stories that I've mentioned, sometimes we veer a little bit too far into one territory over another, but I think we're getting it right most of the time."

Are you approaching Hollyoaks exactly the same way second time around, or has the audience expectation changed?
"I think the audience expectation keeps getting higher, which is as it should be, as it really keeps us on our toes.

"I've done this job for long enough now to be able to draw from my own experience, and I'm lucky that the team around me right now are amongst the best people that I've ever worked with. I believe that we've currently got the most talented Hollyoaks writing, script and story team that there's ever been."

Can you tell us which characters and storylines will be most prominent over the summer?
"It's going to be a huge summer at Hollyoaks, with all of our old favourites in the thick of the action. We'll have Ste facing one of the biggest challenges of his life as his mum, who has been diagnosed with cancer, asks him to help her die.

"We've also got Darren and Nancy in a great, juicy storyline with Sienna as the cuckoo in their nest. I'm keen for that storyline not to be seen as just a love triangle. Sienna wants far more than just Darren - she wants all the colour and the chaos of the Osborne family. As Nancy has been foolish enough to invite Sienna back into her home, this story is going to explode all over the summer.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/22/300x225/so...on-ste-hay.jpg

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/27/300x225/so...enna-blake.jpg

"Elsewhere, we're going to see the McQueens in peril from Doctor Browning as he focuses in on Myra as the threat to his relationship with Mercedes. That really kicks off with the current stalker mystery, which is going to lead into massive consequences for every single member of the family.

"We're also going to see much more of Tony's cancer storyline, which is playing out beautifully. I'm so proud of Nick Pickard and his work so far. That story will help create a new super-family with the Hutchinsons and the O'Connors coming together at last - and watch out for when Tony finally does tell Diane his heartbreaking news…"

Are you planning to bring back any more faces from the past?
"I've had a few conversations recently, but it's too early to say whether we're going to pursue any more returns. We do have a couple of exits coming up over the next few months and a couple of new characters too, but in terms of returnees, you'll just have to wait and see."

Lots of our readers were wondering whether we'd ever see Silas again. Would you explore his storyline any further?
"The Silas story was one of the Hollyoaks success stories of the past few years and it played out brilliantly for the programme. For me, it felt like the right time when Silas exited for the second time last summer, but never say never. I'd be foolish to rule it out completely when Jeff Rawle was so fantastic in the part."

Can you tell us anything about the new characters you have planned?
"Ste is undoubtedly one of our most important characters and I'm so impressed with everything Kieron has done in the role. He's become a real star in the past few years. I was conscious of the fact that Ste was languishing on his own with no family around him, so that's something we're going to change by bringing in Ste's sisters. Ste's story with Pauline is just the start of a massive journey for the character.

"The Roscoes have got off to a great start as a big, male force at the heart of the show, so I'm eager to bring in an equally-strong female force to become the engine of Hollyoaks for the next few years. We're just casting the characters now and I'm really looking forward to seeing Ste playing alongside these girls."

We've seen less of the university element of the show recently, so will this be picked up again?
"Absolutely. Hollyoaks started as a university show and it will always have HCC as part of the fictional world. We won't see the halls again, but we're introducing a filthy knackered old student house, which one of our residents will become the surprise owner of. That will become our new student digs in September. George, Tilly and newcomer Jade will become our new Freshers. Rather than bring in a whole group of new students, we want to see characters we know and love evolve into the next generation."

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/12/300x225/so...orge-smith.jpg

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/28/300x225/so...ly-evans-2.jpg

Are you doing anything special for the show's 18th birthday in October?
"I'm so emotionally invested in this show, so I am extremely proud we have reached this milestone. Hollyoaks Later will transmit in October and the series will see the return of Kurt, Finn and Dom. It will be a celebration of Hollyoaks past and present.

"Alongside that, a lot of the stories we're playing right now will come to an explosive climax. There'll also be life-changing events for Tony to play out around the anniversary."

Can you tell us anything more about Hollyoaks Later this year?
"The very talented producer Jane Steventon is back working on the new series after last year's success. Jane did a brilliant job in rebooting Hollyoaks Later, making it feel darker and more credible. We're filming the five episodes at the moment and you can expect to see Tony in his own rites of passage story as he looks into his uncertain future, alongside the return of the much-loved characters that I've mentioned.

"Playing alongside that will be a huge storyline involving our current teenagers. Tilly, Esther, Callum and Holly will be in a rip-roaring plot as they all find danger in a cabin in the woods."

The bus crash helped you to win the 'Spectacular Scene' prize at the Soap Awards this year. Do you have any more stunts in mind?
"We certainly do! As part of our spectacular summer storylines, we have a big stunt which we're actually filming right now. We also have something planned for transmission in the autumn, so there's at least two on the way…"

'Hollyoaks': Extra gossip, teasers from exec producer Bryan Kirkwood

Quote:

Hollyoaks' executive producer Bryan Kirkwood recently caught up with Digital Spy to chat about his future plans for the show.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/28/M/soaps-ho...n-kirkwood.jpg

If you haven't read it yet, don't miss part one of the interview for gossip on new characters, HCC, the 18th anniversary and much more.

Here, Soap Scoop presents part two of the chat, which contains some extra teasers and detail on what's ahead for a number of the characters.

It's been great to see characters like Diane become more prominent this year. Do you think it's important that the older characters are given more screen time?
"Absolutely - that's one big change that I wanted to make to the programme. I really wanted the audience at home to feel that Hollyoaks is a show that the whole family can enjoy. It will always have a teen focus leaning towards the younger characters, but I do believe that we can tell stories with the whole cast.

"It's been a joy to see Diane, Myra, Jack and Frankie in the thick of things. It's also why we brought in Jeremy Sheffield and Gillian Taylforth, as they're two fantastic actors who bring a wealth of experience to their roles.

"To emphasise the broadening out of the show, from the 15th of July the entire cast will be featured in the opening titles. It's about time. We are keeping the current format with the addition of some old and new faces."

Are there any other set changes we should be looking out for?
"We've now got the back of The Dog, which will help us to make better use of the Roscoes' garage and the pub car park. Viewers have seen that Jack and Sandy share a secret, so the new space will help us play the families alongside each other.

"The school will also shortly have a facelift as Patrick unveils the new Hollyoaks High, which helps us to see a lot more of our younger characters like Tom and Holly."

The fans definitely love spoilers but they also seem to enjoy big shocks, such as when Lynsey was killed off unexpectedly. Are you planning any more unpublicised surprises?
"Definitely. I was really inspired by the way the audience responded to Lynsey's shock death, and I think those moments of surprise are something that Hollyoaks is able to do more effectively than the other soaps. We do have a handful of really juicy surprises which you'll see on screen over the next few months. As a team, we're trying to be a bit cleverer when it comes to holding certain things back."

John Paul's fans are keen to see a lot more of him. Will his big storyline still be happening?
"You can definitely expect to see a lot more of John Paul. It's fair to say that James has had a quieter time of it, but John Paul remains one of our most important characters. With Danny Lomax now in the show, John Paul does finally get his share of the action. His romance with Danny will lead to dark and unexpected consequences for a number of characters."

Doug also has a fanbase but he's become a bit of a supporting character recently. Does he have some good stuff coming up?
"Doug's also had a quiet few months, but with a cast of this size, we're always going to have to look away from certain characters from time to time. I love PJ's work and I think he's done a brilliant job over the past few years. We'll definitely see Doug come back to the forefront of the show."

Can you tell us any more about Sienna's story with Darren and Nancy?
"There are a lot more twists and turns to come. The fact that Sienna also features in Patrick's world hopefully illustrates to the audience that not everything is as it seems.

"While Darren and Nancy are one of our most-loved and most important couples, they're only as interesting as the conflict they're facing. 'Happily ever after' doesn't often work in soaps. I adore what Jess and Ashley have done and want them to be busier than ever."

Some of our readers have pointed out that Hollyoaks is sometimes the soap where crime can go unpunished! Will Browning, Theresa or Will ever get a comeuppance?
"It's a fair point that the crime rate is soaring at the moment! Let's just say that at least one of our criminals will soon be unmasked…"

Are you pleased with how the Roscoes have gone down with viewers, and what are your future plans for them?
"I think that the Roscoes have had a good start in the show. I was very nervous about introducing seven new faces to the village at the same time, but I also knew that Hollyoaks needed a massive injection of new energy following our big departures of recent months. Over the years I've introduced some soap families who have gone down well and some that have gone down not so well, so hopefully I've learned my own lessons from what works and what doesn't.

"With the Roscoes, we've got seven strong actors and seven very different characters. We're already very excited about telling Roscoe stories, and I hope the audience are embracing them. The boys and Gillian are doing well so the Roscoes should be a big part of the show for years to come."

We've noticed fans are really liking Lindsey in particular, so will she have lots more to do?
"She certainly will, as I think Lindsey is right at the heart of the Roscoes' success. Sophie has arrived with such confidence and charisma, which I'm overjoyed by. With the absence of Jacqui, Cheryl and Mitzeee, we knew that we were lacking a strong leading lady with a big heart and a strong moral code."

This time last year the fans wanted to see less of the teens, but now it seems they're calling for them to be used more! What's coming up for them?
"That's been a really surprising but satisfying consequence of the recent changes - seeing how much our audience fell in love with some of our younger artists. I think they got a really hard time at certain points, but we always had talented actors in the younger cast who were doing good work. I'm really pleased that we're now being called on to feature George, Callum, Tilly, Esther, Ruby, Sinead and Phoebe more.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/17/300x225/so...een-jacqui.jpg

"George, Phoebe and Vincent's beautiful love story will be a big plot over the summer. It's quite unique, as it's a love triangle where nobody's doing anything wrong! It's also an important issue story and a soap first, as it's about the story of a Nigerian asylum seeker who's fleeing persecution for being gay. We are working closely with Stonewall, to ensure a rarely told story gets the audience it deserves. There's tons more to explore with that plot.

"We'll see Tilly and Esther's relationship go in a very unexpected direction in Hollyoaks Later, while Ruby is about to lose her head with an older man.

"Sinead is going to have the year from hell, as karma for all of her wicked acts in the past year! However, coming out of that will be a surprising love story with a knight in shining armour."

What's coming up for Cindy?
"Cindy's been quiet lately, but what I'm delighted to see is her finally grow a heart and be such a support to Tony. We all recognised that Tony and Cindy had probably had too many attempts at being husband and wife, but now they're just good friends. To me their scenes are a highlight of what's on screen right now.

"Cindy has recognised where she's gone wrong with her life in recent years and she will try to turn her life round. But it might just be too little, too late as she finds herself in some enormous trouble."

Dennis, Liberty and the Kanes are characters who we've seen less of recently. Do they have a future in the show?
"I'm thrilled to see Dennis back now and better than ever. He's one of my favourite characters and Joe Tracini lights up the screen. We'll be seeing a lot more of him.

"We will see Liberty make a brief return to the show as she announces she has secured a recording contract and goes off to pursue her dream. Ash, Martha and Callum will all be much busier in the coming months."

Will the Patrick and Maxine story become an abusive partner story?
"Maxine and Patrick are polar opposites, who have found themselves in an unlikely relationship. There have been some early warning signs that Patrick can be quite controlling but is Maxine the woman to change him?"

I liked that interview with Bryan Kirkwood, his love for Hollyoaks is obvious and I like the plans/direction he has for the show and there is lots of good stuff coming up.

The show has been consistent for me this year so far and I hope it keeps getting better!

I am pleased that all of the cast are in the opening credits now, including the older characters now that BK wants to focus on both age groups and families. Some of the shots in the credits are family ones too.

I hope that Will does not kill Ash and I hope that he is the killer who Bryan Kirkwood mentions will get their comeuppance soon.

Poor Nancy, so Darren has thrown her out because he has discovered that false drugs test but is unaware that Nancy is innocent and unhinged Sienna faked it.

Tony has finally told Diane about his cancer too:).

bbfan1991 15-07-2013 06:26 PM

Poor Diane and Cindy:(. That scene with Cindy explaining to Diane about Tony's cancer was fantastic, good acting by Stephanie Waring and Alex Fletcher.

Darren is being harsh to Nancy, he will feel so guilty when the truth finally comes out about Sienna.

Maxine and Ash's friendship is class:D.

'Hollyoaks' Will Savage plans to kill again

Quote:

This is the moment when Hollyoaks' Will Savage plans to commit his second murder as he leads Ash Kane to the edge of a cliff.

Will (James Atherton) becomes unnerved next week that Ash (Holly Weston) has been working with Anna (Saskia Wickham) on her placement but hasn't told him about it.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/28/618x416/so...aks-3654-2.jpg

He goes to see Anna and tells her that his girlfriend has been lying to him. Anna is unaware that it's Ash, but she's concerned that this person will meet the same fate as Texas.

Will gives Ash plenty of opportunity to confess but she doesn't. Fearing she is soon going to uncover the truth about Texas Longford's death, Will decides that he needs to silence her for good.

They go for a day trip to the countryside and Will leads Ash to the top of a cliff. As Ash looks out at the scenery, Will stands up behind her, plucking up the courage to kill her.

'Hollyoaks' Sinead O'Connor in danger after setting up client

Quote:

Hollyoaks' Sinead O'Connor will sink to a new low when she volunteers herself as a mole to work in Trevor's club in an upcoming storyline.

Viewers have already seen Sinead (Stephanie Davis) start a career in 'clipping' - seducing men and stealing their money without sleeping with them.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/19/618x676/so...-oconnor-2.jpg

Despite Diane and Tony's pleas for her to come home, Sinead continues to live cash-strapped in Ste's flat.

With money tight, Sinead swallows her pride and agrees to become an escort in order to get some extra money, All About Soap reports.

After doing a 'test-run' for Trevor and entertaining his clients, Ste finds a devastated Sinead sitting down in the shower.

Unable to take any more abuse, she tells Ste that she is going to blackmail her next client to get enough money to run away. After Ste agrees to film her with her client, Sinead nervously gets ready and waits for her target to arrive at the flat.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/24/618x452/so...aks-3635-1.jpg

After the client called Norman turns up, their plan is scuppered when Doug and Tony knock at the door. Ste manages to get rid of them and everything seems to be going to plan when they demand £5,000 from Norman in exchange for their silence.

However, while Sinead is out collecting the cash, Ste goes to visit his ill mum as Trevor turns up at the flat demanding to know what she has been up to.

Oh Sinead you naughty girl:nono:.

'Hollyoaks' Kieron Richardson: 'Ste will never be the same again'

Quote:

Hollyoaks star Kieron Richardson has said that his character Ste Hay's life will never be the same again after his latest storyline.

It was recently revealed that Ste's ill mum Pauline would reveal that she was dying and desperately needed her son's help.

http://i2.cdnds.net/13/22/618x710/so...on-ste-hay.jpg

Despite there being no love lost between Ste and Pauline, Ste is convinced by Tony, who is suffering from illness himself, to go and visit her. Once he is there, he discovers just how much his mum is suffering, and helps her move out of his childhood home and into the council flat.

During an emotional chat between the pair about Ste's father, Pauline asks Ste to help her die.

Speaking about Ste's reaction to the news, Richardson told All About Soap: "It makes him feel completely numb. She's gone from telling Ste she loves him in one breath, to asking him to kill her in another.

"Pauline's lied so much in the past, so Ste needs to question whether she really does love him or whether she's just using him.

"He turns to his ex, Doug, for some advice about what he should do."

However, Doug surprisingly tells Ste that he should consider Pauline's request and it helps Ste reach a decision.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/16/618x407/so...ntrollable.jpg

Richardson said: "Doug's reaction comes as a bit of a shock to Ste because he just assumes he'll say, 'Don't be so ridiculous!' But the advice from Doug helps him decide whether he should assist his mum in her suicide.

"If he does go through with it, it will be because Pauline has manipulated him into doing it. Ste is just so vulnerable at the moment. Anything could happen."

Speaking about the future for Ste, Richardson added: "Without giving too much away, he's going to be very busy and there is going to be lots of tears and snot. There's going to be a big Ste explosion.

"This has definitely been one of my favourite storylines to date and quite challenging for me. What happens in these weeks is just the start of the story.

"There is a lot more to come and Ste's life will never be the same again."

Poor Ste:(, but I am looking forward to more of this storyline.
