Flight 2012 - 10/10

Superb. Denzel, Kelly Reilly and John Goodman are fantastic. Excellent story!

Is that the one where the pilot is a cocaine addict and blamed for the plane crash and he has to prove there was a technical fault with the plane?

Sort of, although alcohol plays a much bigger part in his life than cocaine. But yeah same principle, struggling to accept his addiction etc.

It's more that the airline, and manufacturer knew there was a fault with the plane, but would rather put the blame on 'pilot error'.

Don't want to spoil too much because for anyone who hasn't seen it, it's really worth a watch.

Dallas Buyers Club - 8/10

Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey were both fantastic :clap1:

I'm going to watch The Fighter soon

I've got this in my list on Netflix, so will watch soon!

The Fighter - 10/10

Wow! This was incredible, and right up there with my favourite ever sports films/biopics. :clap1:

"After Midnight" - ??/10

I don't really know what to say. You should watch it, though.

I see that Jeremy Gardner is in that. Have you watched The Battery? (one of his other films)

LukeB 28-06-2020 09:47 PM

Birds Of Prey 7/10

Ammi 29-06-2020 06:19 AM

...I watched The Mountain Between Us on tv last night...I was in emotional shreds with it all for goodness sake...probably 6/10 for Kate and Idris...with another few points for the dog, so a respectable 8..../...no tears left to cry...

It's the first time I've seen him or tbh anything like it. I just don't know how to rate it :joker:. The last 10 minutes was one of my favorite "horror" endings ever and I can't even explain why.

John Wick 2 …. pants but the boys liked it 5/10

First Man  10/10

"The Invisible Man" - 7.5/10

Offred Vs Predator. It was a good watch, the villain is a little underdeveloped but maybe that's to be expected given that he's invisible for 95% of the film. I think it would have been better if there had been a 20-30 minute "set up" of June Cecilia actually having to live with Adrian, to give us a chance to actually see him as the villain rather than just hearing about how bad he was. Would have increased the cathartic value of the ending. Would have bumped it to an 8.5/10 for me.

The Endless - Only realised afterwards that this is a sequel to something? I think anyway. It was pretty strange, I can't decide whether I liked it or not

I really liked it but yeah agree with you as well regarding your last point. It had a feel of Sleeping with the Enemy for me too. Also, I will just watch anything with Elizabeth Moss in it regardless because she's such an amazing actor

The Mask.
One of my all time favourite movies. It's just so funny.
When he's dancing the cops. Cuban Pete :joker:

One of my main thoughts at the end was "****, that suit is worth a lot more than $5 million" :joker:.

:laugh2: I don't remember them saying that (watched it a while back) but yeah it definitely would be worth a lot more than that

They didn't say the suit was worth that, but
Spoiler:

there was the whole bit about her losing the $5 million he had "left" to her... then at the end she walks out with the suit stuffed in a duffel bag... when it would clearly be worth literally BILLIONS to any major world power's military R&D. I'm here for the dramatic sequel where she's sold it to the Chinese, but the US military have seized the suit that the police have in evidence, and both have a massive army of invisible soliders :flutter:

Given your taste, I think you'll enjoy it.

The Curse of La Llorona, I only watched it bc it’s the only film in the conjuring universe I hadn’t seen, wasn’t expecting much because I saw it got poor reviews so I guess in that aspect i wasn’t disappointed  probably the worst film in the conjuringverse 4/10

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)

Nowhere near as amazing as the first, but an entertaining sequel nonetheless. The volcano scene was breathtaking, I couldn't keep my eyes off it. I do hate the twist
Spoiler:

about the little girl being a clone. Cloning Dinosaurs I get, but people? :umm2:
.

The lack of T-Rex annoyed me as well. The T-Rex played an important role in the first film's climax, but here he's sidelined. We see him in the opening scene and after
Spoiler:

he's captured, we don't see him again until the end when he eats the bad guy.

Speaking of the opening, what a scene that was!
Spoiler:

I did feel sorry for that guy who got eaten by the mosasaurus. Imagine celebrating after you've just narrowly avoided a T-Rex, only to be killed by another more powerful Dinosaur seconds later. Ouch indeed.

Overall I did enjoy this film.

7/10.

We watched this at the weekend too, concluding our 10-year-old's intro to JP. A lot of the film is pretty dumb ("Jurassic House" :joker: ) but it is entertaining nonetheless. Blue to be one of the new Avengers?

Smithy 30-06-2020 08:42 PM

I went to the cinema with a friend to see both JW/JW:FK and after the latter finished and we were walking out she said “so do you think dinosaurs were real or just made up for the film”
