Ahh I have similar plans but involving vodka I think haha! My friends should be leaving Aberdeen quite soon to come down here, so I'm looking forward to that! I think we're going to go out as well but probably just to our student union, cheap entry, cheap drinks and within walking distance - so no money spent on taxis! :D

Nice to meet you, Braden :). Very unusual name, it's cool!

Sounds cool, was never a big clubber type anyway, prefer pubs. How are you finding life outside Aberdeen Greg?

Hmm, tricky question. I find the aspect of actually looking after myself really easy, and I really like Glasgow as a city; but I've been really depressed for the past few months - it's not homesickness, but I always feel better when I'm at home; I think it's a combination of missing my friends and not having many/any in halls. I mean I've made a good group of friends in my German lectures, but they all live at home so I never get to see them outwith Uni, so whenever I come back to halls I'm just alone the whole time, it sucks. Despite that, I am enjoying it, I've just been really down for four months or so now! :(

aawww  Have you thought about getting a partime job or anything there, it's a good way to meet people too. I lived in London for a couple of years when I was younger and did bar work, it was a brilliant way of making friends.

Nah, I'm pretty boring tbh, I love being at home, infront of the fire with a glass of wine in my hand!

Niamh. 12-03-2010 11:16 AM

I do want to get one but I decided against getting one here this year; my timetable is brutal (9-10, 1-2, 2-3, 4-5 depending on the day.. but 9 o'clock starts four days a week, compulsory) and I struggle to get up as it is, bar work just wouldn't be practical, not this year anyway, but next year the 9am lectures move to 11am, so it'd be a bit better then. It's also got to the stage where I'm only here for a few more weeks, there's no point in getting a job now. I want to meet new people though, and a job would be great, just for something to do more than anything!

Are most people actually from Glasgow then at your college? It's easier when you have alot of people who are not from that place to make friends cos everyone is in the same boat! Still though, you're probably still adjusting to the new life, how many years is your course?

Quite a lot of them are in German but in my other two courses I don't know anyone from Glasgow, it's mixed. My course is 4 years long, and I go away to a German speaking place in 3rd year! Kind of looking forward to that although I'm worried that I'll be crap at it, I always worry though, I get really bad nerves about so many things! Just made myself two toasties, om nom nom! I had no breakfast, that's my excuse hehe. Have you been up to much today Niamh?

Raph 12-03-2010 11:48 AM

Oh cool, my brother did a German and commerce course a few years back and he spent his 3rd year near Dusseldorf, he loved it but he had such a flair for German it was no bother to him.

I've been in work (boo) so weekend doesn't start till 5 for me!

Congrats on your moderating job btw!

Niamh. 12-03-2010 11:49 AM

see ya Samy

Tom4784 12-03-2010 12:20 PM

Ugh what a crap day I've had, I haven't been able to do my jobs since it's been raining and my friend's ditched me to cover for someone else at work.

Niamh. 12-03-2010 12:24 PM

Nothing much really today, just a bit of gardening and painting but it just puts my whole day out of whack when things don't go as planned.
