I miss the 80's for the killer opening tracks to programmes. Call me nostalgiac if you will, but I always thought they'd mastered the art of hooking you immediately with excellent theme songs. |
Love this band. Create beautifully ornate little symphonies in their music, with layers of sound just enveloping you. Always have to listen to the end to see what their next quirky little twist will be. |
Another one of their lesser known tracks which I think is great, with them being accompanied by Beck. |
Sorry, in a bit of an Air mood at the mo, especially for songs that I haven't heard from them in awhile. This one starts off menacingly for the first 2 or 3 mins mins and then opens up into an extremely beautiful little piece. |
Nice choices, James. I only have Air's first album Moon Safari... great album though. The first couple of minutes of "Radian" sounds a bit like that Byzantine chant I posted earlier, hehe.
The frequent modulations of key in this song made it a little hard to come around to at first for me, but it's a nice little song. More to it than meets the eye... or ear. |

I do not think I can go to the Albert Hall but I might consider going to Hyde Park just enjoying the atmosphere. |

There were so many to listen (nice surprise) I could not finish off posting. Mrluvaluva said he/she liked Femme Fatale. But I have never heard of the Velvet Underground! Eventhough this is the first time I heard of their music (I think) I felt very nostalgic and the sound was very familiar. By the way, may I ask you, BB_Yey, are you male or female? (For a quite while I thought WOMBAI, lili were male, so just in case. I think Mrluvaluva is male.) |

This is an old German folk song. A song about person leaving home.
(I am afraid I do not know this English/German title.) Muss i denn zum Stadtele hinaus |
This song was introduced to Japan in late 1880. Eversince this is one of popular foreign folk (?) songs.

It's nice to learn a thing or two about folk music. I've done a bit of searching or Austrian folk music, which was quite a big infuence on Gustav Mahler. This one is pretty charming. Although, sadly it doesn't do much to debunk the association of Vienna with waltz music.
this is more of a minuet (I think)... actually no, it's another waltz, lol |
