I didn't find her use of ****** offensive but I thought her subsequent tweets were kinda ****ty, trying to worm her way out of it. She'd have been better not trying to explain why she used the word and just apologising for offending anyone who got worked up about it, rather than trying to explain her own definition of ******... I don't really get why people are so offended by her using it towards Perez Hilton though, it's not like she said "I hate any of my fans who are ******s", she was in an argument with an annoying man who's famous for being a dick to celebrities and it was the easiest cheap shot she could take, to call him a ******. It doesn't excuse her behaviour but it's obviously why she used the word, she's clearly not a homophobe.

GLAAD has spoken out about*Azealia Banks's use of the word "f*ggot" directed at Perez Hilton. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation described the word as "ugly, archaic" and "used almost universally by bullies. Banks became embroiled in an online argument with Hilton when he criticised her*retaliatory diss track aimed at Angel Haze.Hilton told her: "Some of your music is cute, but your attention-seeking ways are pathetic and hurtful. You drag while others choose to uplift!"Banks replied: "Whatever bitch, you tried to sign me to ur little bum ass label in '11 with them bulls**t ass artists..."*She later tweeted: "Omg u should just kill yourself... Like for real... lol what a messy f*ggot you are."The rapper has since attempted to apologise for her language, but*denied that the word she used was a homophobic slur. GLAAD wrote on its website: "Banks' claim that the word 'fa*got' doesn't mean a gay male is not true.*"Regardless of her intent or her personal definition, what matters is the meaning given to that word by those who hear it, and the damage it causes when they do.*"Undoubtedly there are gay kids who follow her on Twitter who hear this word in an entirely different context.*"This word is used almost universally by bullies, often as part of a larger verbal or physical assault. This word hurts those kids, no matter what Banks meant by it.

no one gives a **** about GLAAD. any organisation that seeks to represent all gays is going to look for offence.
|
At the end of the day, I'm not going to be offended by something that wasn't written about me, because it doesn't bother me. If you read her words and do find them offensive, then by all means that's fine, but it doesn't bother me personally and I'm going to buy her music anyway when she finally puts an album out.
