Why would you avoid voting for people you like because they are seen as a threat to place higher than you? :joker:

Lee. 27-05-2013 10:32 AM

I don't vote strategically.. I vote for the people I love the most :conf:

Ramsay 27-05-2013 10:32 AM

Nominated people not being able to vote would be bad, seeing as there isnt that many more than 51 active users at the minute anyway

In fairness to Zee he did announce that the list would be opened at midnight and as it was straight after Eurovision when lots of people were around it seemed a good a time as any, I could understand people feeling miffed if he opened it without any warning.

Plus, yeah its a competition but its also a showcase of people being able to say things about people they like. Its fine the way it is

Not allowing the nominees to vote would be good :D:

I seriously doubt people would vote tactically in this, you'd want to be pretty bloody sad to be fair.

Totally agree...

Sense of humour failure all round I give up. I wasn't actually being serious and i doubt Alex was either.

I think there are more members around evening time later in the day also, hence why I think the votes went in quite quickly.

Shhhh, it's much more fun to watch them all freak out "I WOULD NEVER EVER EVER VOTE TACTICALLY!" never in a million years, how dare you even suggest suggest such a thing! :joker:

I sorta do agree with this although I'm sure there's more than 51 active users, I'm sure there's a few

joeysteele 27-05-2013 11:37 AM

I don't know.
This has worked incredibly well with no changes for all the time I have seen it done on here by Zee,I think it is as fair and open as it can be.
I know the voting for noms opened at midnight sunday but for weeks we had been told this was the case and going to happen.

I was there at that time and clearly many others were too, I also doubt with great certainty too that Zee honestly expected so many members voting and so many different nominations to be done so quickly and decisively.
Although I do understand the frustrations of those who missed out and then had to vote in a rush.
I had to alter my list 3 times and then again just after midnight when Zee opened this up,I did though have my list ready in time for this opening, having prepared it virtually from Zee saying it would be starting on the 26th some 3 weeks ago.

So for me, Zee has this arranged as perfect as it can be with fairness.
It is annoying when games and things change, what I love with this is it has stayed intact even as to its format.

I don't agree that those nominated shouldn't vote, they will have nominated others to go through anyway and they cannot nominate themselves or even later vote for themselves in any case.
As has been said in posts since, those who have nominated have usually seen at least half of their list go through to the final round of 50 to choose from.
I would dare bet that all those who anyone nominated and got through would still get their votes from them in the final round, just needing to fill the spaces they have as to those of their nominations who didn't get through this time.

So for me this is one of the very best things on tibb, okay the nominations were over very quickly this time but that has not been the case with past most loved polls.
The only difference this time was the near 3 week build up which clearly fuelled interest to the point where some members were determined to get their nominations in at the very start.

I said earlier, perhaps the only change I would maybe like to see, while stressing I am happy to completely go with Zee and his planning and presentation of this, is that more nominations be needed to qualify for the final round, that would possibly slow things up a bit.

Jesus. 27-05-2013 11:43 AM

The only potential flaw I see, is the fact that not everyone gets to vote in rd1.

Say for example Joey wins it by one point, but Ammi and Niamh would have both nominated thetruth in round 1, who then finishes 2nd by a point, then is it really ML?

However, this has always been the case and everyone goes into it with their eyes open. Zee understands better than most, that you can only please all of the people for some of the time.

This time that has been a problem I agree with you, it hasn't in past ML polls though.
I doubt we are likely to see the near 3 week build up next time like we had this time so it could be very different and take longer next time.

I am though sad for you that your nominations didn't get in on time and you are clearly disappointed.
Although at least I think you said, most or all your noms got through anyway so they will for sure be able to get your votes in the 2nd round.

Kizzy 27-05-2013 12:00 PM

It was silly that there was a 3 week build up and then it was all cut and dried in the wee small hours, bit of an anti-climax.
I forgot someone off my list too so seeing as late entries can be allowed I want to swop one of mine please.
