Scream 4
7/10 I really like this film, a great modern horror. The characters are brilliant, I love Kirby, each character is unique and brings something different to the film. The opening scene is different and rather good, although they should have made it more suspenseful. The alternative opening scene is far better and I wish they had used it. The film progresses well, we're introduced to every character early on. Sidney, Gail and Dewey are fantastic in the film, I like how Gail hasn't lost her fierce side. The first major death with the girl next door was really gruesome and I loved it, had me on the edge. I loved it when Ghostface and Sidney had a little face off. The film progresses nicely and the deaths are great, each is individual and terrifying in it's own way. Ghost face is a lot more extreme in the movie, especially when he threw Sidney's PA off the car park roof. Overall the movie is great. The reveal is awesome, I love how the killer was Gill. The motive is very clever, rather shocking that someone would do it to become famous. Lots of violence and action in the reveal. I liked how it ended in the hospital, especially when the police officer not many people liked shot Gill. Overall I enjoyed the movie a lot and would recommend it. |
Cal has been banned for one day (I don't know why) and he wanted reviews in for 12 so I presume maybe he wanted us to watch Scream 4 and have our reviews in for 8pm and then to watch Sinister.

Scream 4
Scream 4 manages to salvage the series from the wreckage that was Scream 3. The balance between comedy and horror is much better this time around and the characters beyond Sidney, Gail and Dewey are both interesting and rootable, something that Scream 3 largely lacked. I liked that the film managed to keep up with the times and skewer modern horror conventions whilst staying true to the series and I think the killers are probably the best out of all four films. The only reason why I'm not rating this film higher is because it isn't as good as Scream or Scream 2. 7/10 Scores Scream 4 - 7/10 Black Christmas 6/10 The Descent 10/10 Scream 3 4/10 Urban Legend 6/10 I Know What You Did Last Summer - 2/10 Scream 2 - 8/10 House of Wax - 5/10 Friday the 13th - 3/10 Scream - 9/10 |

Scream 4: 8/10 Well, that was quite a return to form. After a decent but ultimately subpar third installment, Scream 4 returns to the vibe that I loved about the first two. The film-within-a-film opening was inspired (and I loved the cameos), the humour was well-managed once again, and the kills were executed (pardon the pun) effectively. One little thing I didn't love was the police officer's "**** Bruce Willis" before he died. That was a rare case of this movie not applying a humorous element as well (I mean, it wouldn't be out of place in a Scary Movie death scene). But that's just a minor gripe in an otherwise brilliant film. I really enjoyed the various homages to the original movie too, and how they were ultimately subverted (like the girl crawling under the garage door, the apparent character similarities that were then flipped around). As for Jill, I loved her as the killer (she's second only to Mrs Loomis). Her twisted motivation, to be the new Sidney, was a nice angle and the scene of her injuring herself is obviously classic. The final shot of the movie is striking, with a reporter hailing Jill as "a hero straight from the movies" as the camera focuses on her dead face. As said, Scream 4 is well and truly a return to form imo, and if it is indeed the final installment to the movie canon, it's ended on a high as far as I'm concerned. Rankings: 1. Urban Legend (9/10) 2. Scream 2 (9/10) 3. Scream (8/10) 4. Scream 4 (8/10) 5. The Descent (8/10) 6. Scream 3 (7/10) 7. Friday the 13th (7/10) 8. House of Wax (6.5/10) 9. I Know What You Did Last Summer (5/10) 10. Black Christmas (5/10) |
Excellent Review Liam :clap1:
I agree with every word. And yeah that **** Bruce Willis quote really annoyed me. It just felt so out of place in a Scream movie and I didn't find it funny at all. |
Scream 4
Rating - 8/10 Well I really enjoyed this film.. improvement on Scream 3. A Movie within a movie was a great idea and i really enjoyed the scenes. The characters were likeable as well mainly Jill and Kirby who shouldn't have died imo but her death scene was amazing. Oliva had a good death scene it was brutal. Sidney's nickname "Angel of Death' goes tbh. I loved Jill as the killer, she played a psycho really well. This films is so underrated it was 10x better than 3. Jill killing her mother through the letter box was another good death. I was happy Gail got stabbed this time instead of dewey. This looks like the last Scream movie we will get so it went out with a bang. 1.The Descent - 10/10 2.Scream(1996) - 9/10 3.Scream 2 - 9/10 4.Urban Legend - 9/10 5.Scream 4 - 8/10 6.Friday The 13th - 8/10 7.Scream 3 - 7/10 8.Black Christmas - 5.5/10 9.I Know What You Did Last Summer - 5/10 10.House Of Wax - 3/10 |

Scream 4 - 7/10
(i'll do a more in depth review later if i get time) |
Scream 4
I'm sick so this is short and sweet. It's a worthy entry with nice surprises. The death are upgraded and the killers are cool. Never **** with the original! 7/10 |
I don't wanna be fussy but Scream 4 actually came out in 2011 not 2010.

Sinister
Sinister features a lot of eye rolling cliches but also at the same time there's a lot of twists and turns that I've rarely seen in a horror film before. I liked the mashup of snuff films and demonic position and I really liked the main antagonist, his appearance was creepy as hell and he was rarely used which worked to amp up his fear factor. Overall I thought it was pretty good, the idea was great but I think the film suffered from cliched behavior from it's characters. 7/10 Scores Sinister - 7/10 Scream 4 - 7/10 Black Christmas 6/10 The Descent 10/10 Scream 3 4/10 Urban Legend 6/10 I Know What You Did Last Summer - 2/10 Scream 2 - 8/10 House of Wax - 5/10 Friday the 13th - 3/10 Scream - 9/10 |

Night Ten - Scream 4
http://www.heyuguys.com/images/2011/...m-4-Intl-3.jpg The opening scene is great Lucy Hale's character talking about scary movies before being brutally murdered along with her friend had a great nostalgic feel to it and brought me back to the opening of the first film. It was a nice little surprise element also that it was just part of Stab 6. However, I think that the actual opening scene outside of Stab 6 is poor when you think back to the fantastic openings of the first two films and even the third was a much better opening. One brilliant aspect to the movie is this time I felt that the new characters in the film were much better and not as poorly produced as the characters in the second and third film (particularly the latter). Kirby was a great character with many layers. Her feisty and sarcastic side but also her determined and loyal nature reminded me much of Tatum's character in the first. I also liked Judy's character and her rivalry with Gale and obsession with Dewey provided some great scenes. The death scenes in the film for me were pretty weak though. There wasn't any real chase scenes or any elements of suspense for me. Rebecca's death was probably the most enjoying and suspenseful death in the film but I don't even think that holds up to some of the fantastic ones we were given in the original first and second film. The chase scenes were also pretty crap. The one with Gale at the barn was hideously messy and boring. I did like Kirbys death but I think that was purely for the shock factor that Charlie was the killer if it didn't have that shock factor behind it it would be pretty underwhelming and subpar. The film redeems itself though with Jill being the killer. Emma Roberts did an amazing job at playing the sociopathic side of Jill who was desperate to replace Sydney and gain some attention from her family. The lengths she drove herself to was great and I loved the scene where she ripped out her own hair and threw herself over the glass table it was so disturbing but had an underlying element of comedy to it. The final scene at the hospital is also a stand out moment in the film and Jill's death was great the way Gale stood up and just simply said clear before Sydney proceeded to electrocute her was brilliant. The final shot also with the reporters describing Jill as all these insiparational and role model like quotes while focusing on her dead body was chilling. Overall - 6/10 I think it's practically on par with Scream 3. Worth a watch but nothing compared to the first two films. Scores: The Descent - 10/10 Scream - 10/10 Urban Legend - 9/10 Scream 2 - 9/10 House Of Wax - 8/10 Scream 3 - 6/10 Scream 4 - 6/10 I Know What You Did Last Summer - 6/10 Black Christmas - 4/10 Friday the 13th - 2/10 |
I'm gonna be late with Sinister too, been caught up with stuff, sorry!

Is Sinister in for 8pm :worry:
I'll watch it tnite and watch It Follows when I get in from skwl tomorrow |
Scream 4 7/10 A very entertaining entry in the franchise - however, it doesn't quite have the 'feel' of a Scream film in my opinion. I feel like maybe it's because the main trio lack in screen time compared to the other films. However, I loved most of the new characters - Jill and Kirby were especially amazing. Jill being the killer is such an amazing twist - and I adored how she went from boring cannon fodder to the best character in the film in a matter of moments during the finale. Her self harming/covering up the murders scene is also amazing<3 I did love how this film tried to put entertaining twists on the kills - the whole 'movie within a movie' opening, the killer being in the house over the road during Olivia's (BRUTAL - probably the most brutal in the franchise) death scene, Rebecca being thrown off the hospital roof, Robbie seeing the killer through a camera ect. It felt modern and like it'd really been thought about - but it scores low for me because like I said, it doesn't feel like a screen film. That's why it scores a 7/10 for me. |
Thank you for your continued patience everyone and thanks to Luke/Dezzy and everybody who reviewed during my absence<3
