Dolores and Maeve in that scene

William's storyline is as excrutiatingly boring as it was last season, I see. I'm sort of counting on the next episode being Maeve-centric as I'm not finding Dolores' new "story" all that gripping to be honest.

Episode 2
Much better

Yeah I'm so uninterested in William/Man In Black. His story last season was pointless and predictable, and this year it feels even more pointless. I really couldn't care less about him.

I haven't even started s2 but yass @ everyone hating William :clap1:

Headie 30-04-2018 07:37 PM

Also ItsJustNotRealistic.gif @ some wrinkly old man who spends his whole life playing Indians and Cowboys being able to defeat all these technologically advanced weapon-holding hosts in all these big melee attacks and shootouts etc.

Headie 30-04-2018 07:58 PM

Also lol @ Claire from ANTM10 actually getting a role as Will's wife in this after having her stock photo used last season :joker:

Loved episode 2 :clap1: The present day stuff was sort of spinning its wheels a bit (though seeing Dolores and Maeve finally interact again however briefly was great) but the flashbacks were brilliant. I'm into all the backstory so I loved getting so much this episode. It was also great getting scenes in the outside world for the first time. Pretty surreal seeing Dolores in a modern dress walking around a real world city

Yet another Anthony Hopkins voice cameo. Keep em coming :clap1: They kept Giancarlo Esposito's casting quiet!

I didn't realise Juliet's actress was the model from the picture until someone pointed it out on Reddit. I always assumed she'd be played by someone else if we ever saw her properly since it was just a stock image from the Internet so I love that they did that. I also didn't notice Lawrence's daughter was at the retirement party until Reddit once again pointed it out.

Did anyone else spot Armistice as the sheriff in the scene where James Delos visited the park with William? So many little blink and you'll miss it moments in this show :joker:

Good news. The great thing about a concept like this is that there's so much to explore, especially now we know that there are at least five other parks. It'll be interesting to see how this season is wrapped up and what direction the show will be heading in going into the third season.

The second episode was great.

You think you're scared of Westworld being renewed? They'll do it a million times!

last night i saw episode 2, i quite liked it
Spoiler:

bits of the flashback scenes, a weapon which Dolores plans to use against the humans hmm, and also reunion between William and Lawrence :flutter:

Lostie! 08-05-2018 09:17 PM

Thought episode 3 was another great one :clap1:

The scene between Dolores and Peter was glorious. I love that her old self is still in there and she's not been completely taken over by Wyatt. Although, her continued love for Peter and Teddy does contradict her vow to defy the roles her makers forced her to play, but I think that's very much intentional.

I love that Shogun World was heavily promoted and then the first new world we see is a whole other one  Apparently it's called The Raj. There were posts about a possible "Rajworld" on Reddit a while back when someone cracked some code on one of the Delos sites but I didn't give it much thought, but they were right :joker:

Very intrigued by Katja Herbers' character. It's been pointed out that a symbol in her journal was also in the Delos facility, I completely missed that. Even though she's reportedly called Grace, I love the idea that
Spoiler:

she might actually be William's daughter Emily. Whoever she is, she's important.

Very happy with the returns of Armistice, Felix, Sylvester and Clementine :clap1: Hector's "She has a dragon" reaction to Armistice's flamethrower was brilliant :joker: Her new arm is cool as ****.

Clementine is extremely creepy now and I'm loving it.

The battle is getting some flack because of the apparent ineptitude of the park security but battle scenes are always the least interesting part of anything for me so most of it went over my head

The final scene with the samurai :worship:

Loved Episode 3, much more than I have the past two episodes. That was probably my favourite opening scene to date - very intriguing and it's interesting to see other worlds too. It felt like I was reliving the first episode all over again with the mystery, who's real and who's not etc. Also that Arabic version of Seven Nation Army was delightful.

One thing I am enjoying about this season is that it's less about the characters and more about the actual park itself. Of course, you have several storylines going on with Dolores and Maeve etc, but the show doesn't necessarily need to rely on them to be enjoyable. I'm finding that learning about the creation of the park, how things have changed and exploring other worlds is just as enjoyable than following Dolores and Maeve (probably more enjoyable than the Dolores stuff, to be honest.)

But I agree with Lostie - that scene between Dolores and Peter was emotional to say the least. I think what was heartbreaking about it was Dolores realising that her "father" was literally just code. He was never emotionally invested in her and was essentially just reading off a script, like when he started talking about the ranch.

Caught up on Episode 4. Hm, it's interesting as I understood the importance of it and it dealt with a few of the series' strong themes, but for me it just fell a bit flat. I just found the episode incredibly predictable.

Elsie finally returning was great, though

Probably my favourite yet :clap1: (outside of the MiB stuff which is still pretty boring imo). My jaw genuinely dropped when I started to realise James Delos was a Host with his mind uploaded, thought they staged the reveal perfectly. Peter Mullan was so good :clap1:

And even though I'd figured Delos' plans involved people trying to live forever as Hosts (the hints were pretty strong in episode 2 so I'd say we were supposed to), the knowledge that there's been an unstable James Delos Host underneath the park all this time is chilling. The Drone Hosts are still cool as hell.

Elsie :clap2: I do think she came around to Bernard being a Host quite quickly but I guess there wasn't time to have her mull over it for long.

I was really confused about the flashbacks of the massacre because I assumed it was the same facility Bernard and Charlotte found in the first episode which clearly hasn't had that happen but now it's obvious it was another facility  As for the other Host with human consciousness being made, I'm gonna go with Ford.

Speaking of, I really love how much of a presence he still has despite being dead with the Hosts passing on his messages from beyond the grave. I'm wondering if these instances are messages he pre programmed before dying or if his consciousness is actually still alive in some of the Hosts.

I noticed the couple from the first episode of season 1 being held captive by the Ghost Nation, that was a fun touch.

As I said, the stuff with older William isn't interesting me yet. I know his storyline in this episode was an intentional throwback to when he was in Lawrence's town last season (Lawrence's wife being made to dance for example) but everything with his side of things just constantly feels too familiar. That said, the confirmation of his daughter being in the park significantly raises my interest.

Something I'm disappointed me was the apparent confirmation that Logan's dead because I've been hoping to see his older self show up and it seems like a missed opportunity honestly. Of course, all we have is William's word right now.

Next week looks phenomenal.

Nicky91 15-05-2018 08:42 AM

Katja Herbers yes she's a talented dutch actress  i hope being on this series could be her international breakthrough for more movies like Michiel Huisman now does after appearing on game of thrones

Ashley. 15-05-2018 10:34 AM

Yeah, James still being in the facility years later really creeped me out. I figured out he was a host, (fairly predictable) but the actual concept of him slowly going out of his mind and being unable to remember why was chilling.

Lostie! 15-05-2018 11:50 AM

I didn't see his Host reveal coming from the first scene but when we saw him repeating the very same routine later on the penny dropped

People have pointed out the similarities with the opening scene of Lost season 2 (a Scottish man waking up in an underground bunker and going about his routine including riding an exercise bike whilst a 60s record plays) and I'm ashamed that I, Lostie, didn't pick up on that :worry: (although Lisa Joy says it was entirely coincidental anyway )

Nicky91 18-05-2018 10:54 AM

i saw episode 4 wednesday evening, i quite liked the episode

the scenes with James in the facility were a bit creepy, and the return of Elsie :flutter:

ending also quite good with William and his daughter

i am liking this season so far :hee:
