A group of very skilled pilots and meteorologists landed at Shannon Airport this
week to monitor the movements and strength of Storm Éowyn. According to Cathal Nolan of Ireland's Weather Channel, NOAA's (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) 'Hurricane Hunters' were seen landing in Shannon on Monday Nolan expects winds near the Shannon Estuary to reach speeds of 180/190km per hour, and says it will not be an ordinary storm, but a "generational" one. "The wind speeds that we're seeing from all of the weather models are really sobering for meteorologists, and we can't stress enough that this is going to be a major weather event, and please do heed the warnings". |
