Van Gaal excited by United challenge

Quote:

Louis van Gaal is relishing the opportunity to manage Manchester United after leading the Netherlands to third place at this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

http://www.manutd.com/sitecore/shell...,145,2074,1312

Despite guiding his side to a comfortable 3-0 win over the hosts on Saturday, the 62-year-old Dutchman is refusing to go on holiday and will have just two days off at home before officially taking charge of the Reds this week.

Van Gaal will spend time with his players at the Aon Training Complex before jetting off to California to begin the club’s Tour 2014, presented by Aon. While this might appear a tight schedule, the boss insists he can’t wait for the challenge to begin.

“That is no problem for me, I don't need a holiday,” van Gaal said. “It's great to have such an exciting challenge. To work daily with young people is something that I don't need time off to rest for.

“I'm looking forward to it. I've only met two people from the daily management at the club - the chief scout and the chief executive officer. And I've met two of the owners. It's time that I get to know more people at the club.

“I hope the group in Manchester will become like this [Netherlands] one. We have to sing from the same hymn sheet. I hope at Manchester United I can do my best. I will do my best. Whether that's enough for the fans I will wait and see, but I genuinely hope that will be the case.”

I'm excited too LVG:). Think he will do a great job at United and will love it at the club!

Some reports that the Vidal deal is off.
LVG saying he is not right for United.
I really hope that's not true.
I would be gutted to see him go to another PL Club.
I hope we are not doing what we did last season. We need a lot more than two players in.

What a guy Louis Van Gaal is:amazed::worship:. I enjoyed that first press conference, he is a man with a big personality and character.

LVG has lots of experience and is very professional. He is very realistic about the expectations and challenges ahead and he gets to fulfil his dream of managing in the Premier League. As he said it will take time for the club and players to adapt to his philosophy, it will take time but this is such an exciting era for the club.

LVG also knows what a big club United is of course and mentioned the fact he managed the three biggest clubs in Spain, Germany and Holland. He also mentioned what he did with Holland in the WC, which was brilliant.

Van Gaal relishes Reds challenge

Quote:

Louis van Gaal says he is taking charge of the biggest club in the world - but says his immediate challenge is to reinstate Manchester United to the top of the tree in England.

http://www.manutd.com/sitecore/shell...,419,1632,1339

The Dutchman was in entertaining form during his first press conference as United manager at Old Trafford and brushed off the notion of needing a holiday, having taken the Reds reins just days after leading the Netherlands to third place at the World Cup in Brazil.

“When there is a challenge like this, I never let it go,” he told reporters. “This is a holiday for me. I like the way I can work.

“I will do my utmost best. That's what I can give. I cannot give predictions [about how well we will do] because you never know. It's the biggest club of the world. Within two days I know already how important Manchester United is. I have to work, I have to prepare a team, I have to adapt to this big club. It shall not be easy but I will do my utmost best and when you see my career you can see what I have won. That's all I can say. The future shall show if I can do that again.”

Van Gaal is already impressed with the worldwide renown of his new club. “It's the biggest club because of how well it's known around the world. In sport you are never the biggest club because every season you have to be prove [yourself]. Last year you were seventh so then you are not the biggest club. But it's well known all over the world. When I was in China or Brazil people are talking about United when I was the coach of the Dutch team. That's the difference.

“There's a lot of expectation but it's also a great challenge because of that. Therefore I have chosen this club. I worked for Barcelona - in my opinion, number one in Spain. I've coached Ajax - number one in the Netherlands – and I've coached Bayern - number one in Germany. Now I'm in Manchester United - number one in England. I hope I fulfill the expectation but it shall be difficult.”

Van Gaal hints at more new faces

Quote:

Louis van Gaal has hinted that he will bring more new faces into his Manchester United squad after assessing his players, and that he will look to find roles for Paul Scholes and Phil Neville in his coaching set-up.

http://www.manutd.com/sitecore/shell...,260,2058,1420

Ander Herrara and Luke Shaw joined the club while the new manager was guiding the Netherlands to the semi-finals of the World Cup, but van Gaal has declared that more could follow once he has taken a more in-depth look at his new charges in the coming weeks.

Van Gaal has already brought Albert Stuivenberg, Marcel Bout and Frans Hoek with him as part of his backroom team, with Neville and Scholes having coached at the club last season.

“My method is always the same. I want to look at the players now, the players present," the boss told his first media briefing since joining the club. "Of course I know how the players play, but I don't know the players under my coaching. In the first three or four weeks I want to see what they can do. Then maybe I will buy other players.

“The players we have bought now - Shaw and Herrera - they were already on the list. I gave my approval because I like them. First I want to see the players performing under my philosophy.

“I have to see how the players perform my philosophy and how quickly they can pick up this philosophy. Now, I haven't worked with most of them so we have to wait and see. It's very important there's a ‘click’ between players and the manager.

“Nicky Butt is already assisting us, Paul Scholes we shall find a role for him and also for Phil Neville, I believe. That's what we want. But it has to also be possible and we have to look at that. We have to adapt to the qualities of these people. It's not an easy job. We have to speak personally with them - that's why we have to wait and see.”

If we won the league this coming season, I'm not sure what would make me happier.
Proving to the tv & radio pundits who have slated us, even when we were Champions.
Sticking two fingers up to the players who did not want to join us.
Or laughing at the Liverpool fans who have never won the Premier League yet think second place is something to celebrate.
LVG will come in & make tough decisions that clearly Moyes was unable to do.
I think it will take a few seasons to build this new team but we really need 3 or 4 more players in this window.
I would be happy if LVG let several of our current players go. Most of them stopped playing half way through last season when it became clear we were not going to win anything.

United reveal 25-man tour squad

Quote:

Louis van Gaal has named a 25-man Manchester United travelling squad for Tour 2014, presented by Aon.

http://www.manutd.com/sitecore/shell...gn=0,0,576,324

As the boss explained during his unveiling press conference at Old Trafford on Thursday, he is keen to assess every member of the group during this summer's trip. Alongside the first-team players, a host of young Reds will subsequently fly to the United States.

New signings Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw are also part of the travelling party, but Michael Carrick will unfortunately miss the trip following his ankle surgery this week.

The Reds will play four matches during Tour 2014, presented by Aon, beginning with a match against LA Galaxy in the Chevrolet Cup on 23 July. Further matches in the International Champions Cup will follow against AS Roma in Denver (26 July), Inter Milan in Washington DC (29 July) and Real Madrid in Ann Arbor (2 August).

Every tour match will be shown live on MUTV HD and you can also follow ManUtd.com's live tour blog from Saturday, bringing you news, photos and videos from inside the first-team camp. Please note that the squad numbers worn by each player on tour are not necessarily permanent for the new season.

Tour 2014 squad: De Gea, Lindegaard, Amos, Johnstone, Rafael, Evans, Smalling, Jones, Shaw, Blackett, M Keane, James, Herrera, Cleverley, Fletcher, Young, Zaha, Kagawa, Mata, Valencia, Nani, Lingard, Welbeck, Rooney, W Keane.

Good squad:).

Rafael relishing van Gaal link-up

Quote:

Manchester United defender Rafael is relishing the start of the club’s pre-season and cannot wait to begin life under new Reds boss Louis van Gaal, who was unveiled in a press conference on Thursday.

http://www.manutd.com/sitecore/shell...=0,55,1280,532

Fresh from a four-week break in his native Brazil, the feisty right-back has set his sights on a solid pre-season campaign which he believes will lead to a better outcome than the disappointing events of last time around.

“I’m very happy to be back after pre-season, we’ve been training for over two weeks now and I’ve got used to that quite quickly again,” the defender told MUTV. “That’s the important thing [to get back to fitness very quickly], we need to get it right on pre-season and do all the things properly and look forward to the season. We all want to get back on track as last season was just not us.”

Like many of us, Rafa spent the summer soaking up all the World Cup action and was particularly impressed with the efforts of van Gaal’s Netherlands. The defender is hoping the steely Dutch boss can bring his match-winning methods with him to Old Trafford.

“I’m very excited," he admitted. "Everyone’s excited to see how he’ll be both during games and away from it. “It’s clear [from watching the boss in the World Cup] that he likes to play with intelligent players. These types of players can change games and often shift from one formation to another. He seems very good at [doing] that.”

“Some of his staff have been here from quite early on, so we have an idea of his methods, but we are all looking forward to finding out more from him.”
