...Knives Out...quite slick and really ticked along with a lovely cast...Toni Collette is a perfect election mess distraction......7/10 I would say, if all votes count...

I watched Woody Allen's "Manhattan" earlier.

Think I actually preferred it to the classic that is "Annie Hall". Great cast and great cinematography of NYC with the usual Allen dialogue style you come to expect from his older movies.

Beautifully shot too, full black and white. Look at that intro!:

8/10.

Toni Collette was good

Ammi 15-11-2020 04:55 AM

...21 Bridges...it was quite heartbreaking to watch Chadwick Boseman again.....he really was a terrific actor and had such an onscreen presence...he and JK Simmons were this movie, but especially Chadwick......it had a Gotham City meets Grand Theft Auto../..type feel to it, I thought/...a bit of a video game storyline vibe...the story
also became a bit predictable but it didn’t matter because it was just so slick and cool and so well paced...just a really perfectly put together movie that ticked along so well...8/10...

Toni Collette was good

I'm still pissed she didn't get an Oscar nom or any other "big awards" noms for that movie. I know they tend to overlook the Horror genre as a rule but man, she was insanely good. Robbed.

Force of Nature (2020)

bit of a ''die hard but then in a apartment complex'' with a bunch of high profile thieves, amid a hurricane of category 5

Cam on Netflix

It was good but a little disturbing in parts, bit open ended too which I wasn’t overly keen on, but worth a watch 7/10

I've not seen the Film, but Movie critics don't judge on quality sadly, if you're not in some sort of Dramatic piece then you're not good enough in the Oscars eyes for anything more than Special Effect noms.

...RBG...Docu/film....The Notorious Ruth Bader Ginsberg...I only really knew a silhouette of her life and the changes she made in equality for women through her court battles....and the huge love and support that she felt with her partner....an incredible lady/...an inspiring watch...9/10......

Niamh. 17-11-2020 03:46 PM

Was that on Netflix or Prime Ammi?

Ammi 17-11-2020 03:50 PM

...(...I have to keep checking .....)...it’s Netflix...she really is a remarkable person, I would so recommend...I think that without women such as Ruth, the female world would look quite different... “But I ask no favors for my sex. I surrender not our claim to equality. All I ask of our brethren is, that they will take their feet from off our necks, and permit us to stand upright …”....

Niamh. 17-11-2020 03:52 PM

Definitely put on my List, thanks Ammi

Ammi 18-11-2020 04:00 PM

...Brittney Runs a Marathon...the title says it, really...it touches on so many things..on personal growth and life responsibilities and avoidances...and how the same person can be perceived so differently if their body shape becomes changed ...the ending is one of the most emotional ones of all time for me and Jillian Bell is wonderful and perfectly cast......8/10...

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989). Continuing my eldest's 80's/90's movie education, we watched this on Saturday night. It's still great TBH and I think highlighted, for me, one of the major issues with the new Bill & Ted film. The protagonists in the new one are "dumb & dumber" style dumb, whereas in the original you sort of get the impression that they are NOT dumb at all underneath the "teenage metalhead" exterior, it's all a lot more "knowingly dumb" and thus cleverer. I really enjoyed the rewatch. A classic. Napoleon at "Waterloo" (and at the icecream place getting his Piggy badge pinned alongside his military medals :joker: ) and Billy The Kid + Socrates' bromance are highlights .

I've not seen it since I was a teenager and I think I got a lot more out of it as an adult, actually (because you actually understand the historical references).

Easy 8/10

Any good ol' suggestions that I can make her watch? We've done Ghostbusters, the Jurassic Park series, Edward Scissor Hands and Beetlejuice etc. and probably others I'm not remembering but those are examples of "the sort of thing" I'm getting her to watch :hehe:

Ammi 23-11-2020 10:40 AM
