It has very little to do with the leadership to be honest, it's purely down to the recruitment method. Hamas primarily is an organisation of extremists recruited through either fanaticism, or people who have lost everything and are motivated by bloodlust/revenge (or a combination of the two).

Russian soldiers are largely young conscripts who were kicking about fairly-westernised cities and playing computer games a couple of years ago, and find themselves in a situation they're not at all mentally prepared for. This is often the described experience of defecting Russian troops who go AWOL.

Plus it's a very different conflict. Israel/Palestine have generations of hatred and bad blood and have entirely dehumanised each other at this point (each sees the other as evil). Russians and Ukrainians are very closely blood linked, in some cases literally family, as is the case with the whole region. It's very odd for Russian troops to be invading towns full of people when, just a couple of years ago, those same people were all happily voting for each other at Eurovision.

If the US diverts its resources to Israel instead of Ukraine it will be very good news for Russia. But TBH the conflict in Israel/Palestine is already so lopsided they may not actually need huge amounts from the US in terms of resources. Israel could already flatten Gaza ten times over. The place would be dust if they thought they could get away with it, let's face it.
