Well done to Wigan on beating Arsenal, overall it was the most boring match i've watched in along time.

Leeds earned a replay with Wigan as well which means more money in the bank.

MARK PHILO DIES IN CAR ACCIDENT

Mark Philo - had been with Wycombe Wanderers since he was 15

It is with great sadness that the club announce the death of Mark Philo on Saturday 14th January 2006.

In the early hours of the morning Mark was involved in a fatal car accident in the Reading area. Although he was taken to the Royal Berkshire hospital he was unable to recover from the injuries he had sustained and his life support machine was turned off at 4.20pm.

Wycombe Wanderers would like to take this opportunity to express their deepest sympathies to Mark's family, his friends and those who were fortunate enough to meet him.

An exciting prospect in the game at just 21 years of age, Mark will be sorely missed.
Sad news.

R.I.P.

Red Moon 14-01-2006 08:12 PM

That incredibly sad to lose your life so young

At least he did some of his dream and played football professionally

Mike 14-01-2006 08:32 PM

That is very sad news.

His family must be devastated.

I was pleased with the result, too. Spurs are a decent side this season, and it would seem a European place for them is pretty much a certainty. I'd like to see Keane at Anfield (wearing red).

But the result of the day for me was Man City 3 - manure 'nited 1! :bouncy: Ronaldo's red card would've been the afternoon's highlight, were it not for GOD's goal which completed the humiliation, and the glorious 5-fingered salute to the glory seekers that support the nearly men which followed. :spin:

We have two footie threads? Talk about confuse me :joker:

Anyway, what I posted on other thread.

When I was a kid, all my friends supported Millwall or Charlton. I loved football, but having come from another country when very young, had no allegiance with any English club.

Anyway, I fell quite ill and had to go to hospital. Boro were in town a few days later, at Millwall. My school wrote to Millwall, asking them if they could send a player or two down to come and visit me. They never did, but some people who went to the game asked someone from Middlesbrough if they would come and see me, as I have always been a huge football fan. They apparently said they would try and send someone along, but no-one expected them too.

About 7.30pm that night, in came some Middlesbrough players and the coaches etc and spoke to me about football for between 30 minutes and an hour, leaving me some goodies whilst they were there (pendants, signed pictures, programmes and they all signed a shirt) all of which I still have.

Been a fan ever since, about 18/19 years.

So yesterday was a bit of a bad defeat, albeit with only 3 of what I would call the first choice XI playing.

As long as Newcastle and Sunderland lose that takes away some of the 'pain'

Ideally, Manchester United and Arsenal would be challenging Chelsea, rather than the bindippers, who are so dull

I still look out for Millwall results, but with a tint of 'if only'

Good luck to Wigan and Chelsea today. I think it's great that Wigan are doing so well!

Spurs are a pretty decent side, they did not create too much though. I've always thought Keane was a good player but the only Spurs striker I could see us going for is Defoe.

Great result for City yesterday and great to see Fowler score angainst Manure and give the 5-fingered salute, classic!I really think we're going to come 2nd this season now, only a point behind them with 2 games in hand. Just need a right winger though.

ThaGazBoi 15-01-2006 11:28 AM

Thats sad news about the death, and to die at such a young age. R.I.P

Z 15-01-2006 12:17 PM

Poor kid..

It's weird, the Dons won yesterday and didn't move position. BUT we're at least back in the running for top 6.

sol 15-01-2006 04:44 PM

Plymouth 1 Norwich 1

thats ok i suppose, i wish we'd pull away from the drop zone a bit though
