I hope that critic gets third degree burns or something

I'm getting quite excited for it. I'll let you know my thoughts tomorrow after I've seen it.
|
I like how they've done the marketing, there's been very little shown of the Games so I'm really intrigued to see how they handle some of the gorier moments since I have no footage to gauge a guess from. On the bad side I feel like I'll be able to recite the first 20 minutes of the film by heart

Everyone who saw it at the premiere said it was perfect in comparison to the books (that could be fan bias but w/e). |
I'm really happy about its reviews. I don't think I've read a negative one at all :amazed:

I thought the film was excellent, it's as bleak as the books and every actor bar one is pretty well cast. The violence isn't handled as well as the rest of the film though and I think that affects the impact of it all a little.
The film stays very close to the book and there's only really one plot point that has been dropped (the Avox side story, they're present but there's not much explanation about who they are). Everyone does a good job with their roles but I found Jennifer Lawrence, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz and Donald Sutherland to be the standouts. Clove's actress is very pantomine though, at points I expected her to grow a moustache so she could twirl it. There's a really nice touch applied often in the film which is that they rmute all the music and added sound at certain points and it just does wonders for the tension, in particular at the Reaping in the beginning. They added some bits which I thought really added to the film, you see a lot more of Seneca Crane and President Snow for example and most of the narration and exposition is handled via commentary from Ceasar Flickerman which was a nice touch. As for negatives the only ones I can think of are that the deaths lack the impact they do in the books and that Clove's actress is awful. It's also a bit too dark visually at points and the camera shakes far too much during action scenes. Aside from that though I really enjoyed it. 8/10. |
Im seeing this Saturday :amazed:
Although I havnt read the books, I sort of figured for the film the violence would be restricted a lot. Disappointing they made it 12A tbh. |
I can't wait to see it :amazed:

Happy Hunger Games everyone!! :amazed:

Saw it last night, it doesn't disappoint! I agree with most of the points you made Dezzy, except Cloves actress didn't bother me at all  Yeah, they didn't go too into the deaths but I was expecting that since they rated it 12A. But yeah, I really thought they did a fantastic job and was surprised how close to the book it stayed and how much they managed to get into the film. I thought Jennifer lawrence and Josh Hutcherson had a really good and believable chemistry together too. Oh I rate it 9.4/10 Spoiler: |
-might find a website-
