Yeah, Azealia Banks used some pretty outrageous terminology but he says **** like that all the time and gets to pass it off as being okay because he's gay. She's bisexual and she's a rapper whose lyrics are much more controversial than any of the things she was saying there - if she'd written those comments into a clever diss song about him people would be lapping it up. Popstars aren't normally the sharpest tools in the box, I'm sure she'll learn a lesson from this little episode and be more cautious about her language on Twitter in future, but I do not for a second believe she's a homophobe, I think she just shares the opinion that most people share; that Perez Hilton is a waste of space. She even tweeted recently something about how it's bull**** that famous people are suddenly not allowed to have opinions like regular people have, and that they get jumped on for having a controversial view.

So if someone was having a argument with a black man and they called them a ****** it would not be racist because he is a horrible person? And since when was she bi ?

Since birth? She announced it ages ago. That's not the point I am making, you're twisting the situation and it doesn't compare because there aren't any black men famous for being horrible to celebrities and who play off their black background for attention, nor can you out people for being secretly black. She's not a homophobic person, she just didn't use her brain and used controversial language as a cheap shot. Part of a people-phobia is hatred and fear. I do not see hatred or fear of homosexuals in Azealia Banks, I see intolerance for irritating people. Anyway, my point was that I'm not offended personally by her words and I don't see why people are getting offended on Perez Hilton's behalf.

And, more than anything, Perez Hilton started it. I'm of the opinion that if you can dish out abuse, you should be able to take it, and he is a man who has made a career out of dishing out abuse and then crying about it when people give it back. He called will.i.am a fag and got a black eye for it, it's not like he's some bastion of hope for gay rights.

Azealia Banks has revealed details of her new single.

Titled 'Yung Rapunxel', the track will be released on February 12. It will serve as the lead single from the rapper's debut album 'Broke With Expensive Taste', which is due for release this Spring.

Taking to Twitter this morning (January 28), Banks teased "BIG CHANGE OF PLANS".

Banks then posted that 'Yung Rapunxel' "will be released February 12, 2013" and re-tweeted a tweet from the @Azealianews fan account describing the track as "the lead single from @AZEALIABANKS debut album".

Azealia Banks has previewed a verse from an upcoming duet with Lady GaGa.

The rapper performed a few lines from new track 'Red Flame', which she recorded with GaGa last year.

It's some new 'Gangnam Style' like craze. Not half as annoying but still dreadful!

Mrluvaluva 14-02-2013 10:49 PM

The track was originally released last year, but because of a youtube craze it has been brought into prominence and was number twenty something in this weeks midweeks...

Videos here.

It's the new planking/milking/gangnam style basically.

Another download link.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Azealia Banks is embroiled in another Twitter meltdown.

This one was spurred by Baauer, the Brooklyn producer behind the ubiquitous "Harlem Shake". It started yesterday, when Banks posted a track of her rapping over the viral hit.

After Banks' version was pulled from Soundcloud, Banks tweeted at Baauer, "why you coccblockin tho??? Lmaoooooo." He replied, "cause its not ur song lol." In typical Twitter fashion, things devolved from there, rather quickly.

Banks shot back, "you're a pussy. You don't belong in hip-hop." Then-- on the heels of her controversial tirade against Perez Hilton-- called Baauer a "fag.got" (or more precisely: a "faggoot.")

Because everything is the worst, Hilton himself then chimed in ("Classy as always! How does it feel to be better known for all your trash-talking than your music, Azealia? #TeamBauuer"), prompting Banks to call him a "fag.got" (more precisely: an "evil fag.got") once again. This was right after asking Hilton-- rather illogically, when you really break it down-- what her pussy tastes like.

Finally, Banks tweeted, "You give me free speech and then tell me what I can and cannot say??? Lets just all agree to disagree. We are all entitled to our own truths. :)". Then she posted an updated link of her "Harlem Shake" track.

In other news that seems to become more ominous every day, Banks' forthcoming debut Broke With Expensive Taste-- originally slated for February 12-- still doesn't have a release date. Also, "Harlem Shake" seems unstoppable right now-- it's currently #2 on iTunes.

"you're a pussy. You don't belong in hip-hop."

Errm, who is this woman exactly? :joker:

Saph 15-02-2013 07:39 PM

someone just delete her twitter for her please

Mrluvaluva 16-02-2013 07:01 PM

Following the Twitter drama yesterday surrounding Azealia Banks' remix of Baauer's "Harlem Shake", which was removed from Soundcloud at the request of the Brooklyn producer, Banks shared a video of her version of the track early this morning. And no, it does not follow the formula of the meme. Watch the clip, directed by Rony Alwin, below as she hangs out in the studio, dances, and raps into a Hello Kitty hairbrush.

UPDATE: The plot thickens. Banks just tweeted at Baauer, saying, "I can post emails showing where u gave me permission to use Harlem shake."

Not one to write home about. :idc:

Shaun 16-02-2013 07:53 PM

oh daaaamn she looks good in this vid

King Gizzard 16-02-2013 07:56 PM

he probably did give her authorization but now it's gone viral he wants all the credit to himself

Shaun 16-02-2013 07:58 PM

it's weird, people rap over others' stuff and release it for free all the time. I could understand his frustration if she was releasing it commercially, but as far as I'm aware she isn't

Exactly!
Really, he should be taking down all the youtube videos if he's taking down Azealia.

Brother Leon 16-02-2013 11:21 PM

He probably just didn't want her to vocal the tune, as. It is up to him after all. If Jay or Kanye for example remixed it, then he would of saw it as a great look for him etc as that is even MORE exposure. He has no reason to take down the dance videos as that has raised awareness to the tune. Banks has jumped on it just because it is trendy at the mo and doing more for her than for him tbh.
