Z 11-05-2014 05:05 PM

Currently 46 members with 6 or more nominations.

100 members have been nominated :o

Smithy 11-05-2014 05:21 PM

Seeing as so many people have so many nominations, why not do a top 75?

It takes an age to get through 50, never mind 75.

It honestly takes me at least 2 full days to get everything together and I doubt anybody would have the patience for more than 50 as well  but the participation so far has been phenomenal - despite what people say about it being 1) the same people who vote and 2) there barely being anyone on here; that's just never really true. It's always a variety of people who nominate, it's never predictable and we're almost tied for most Round 1 nominations ever, currently at 47 sets of nominations; the record was 48 from last time around and the closing deadline is Wednesday... I reckon we'll beat it. That's why the bar keeps raising, because more people are nominating and more of a variety of people are nominating.

Stats please or g t f o :dazzler:

Z 11-05-2014 06:17 PM

45/50 people who appeared in the last countdown have been nominated this time around
49 users have 6 or more nominations

Marsh. 11-05-2014 06:18 PM

If when it closes you still have only 49 with 6+ then how do you decide the 50th?

to be fair you have raised first round from 10 to 15 noms, so you are going to get more members needing more noms to get past first round and it will get a few new faces being nominated.

I have a spreadsheet with everyone's nominations in order - counting who reached how many votes in what order; so if there are 49 people on 6+ votes and there are 7 people on 5, the first person out of that seven to have received their 5th nomination would get the 50th place. If the same set of nominations gave more than one person their 5th nomination then there would be more than 50 people on the list.

Yeah exactly, and I think changing it from "the first to reach x number of nominations" to "whoever has the most at the end of 7 days qualifies" is a much fairer and better representation anyway; not everybody will be online whenever I post a new round so it's not really fair like that. It was only ever that way because that's how the guy who invented the whole thing had designed it, I never changed the format at all until last time around because it was becoming clear that it was flawed.

 Well obviously when I did it for the first time, I was the third host for the third edition, there was no indication that I would do it any justice nor that it would become a regular thing that I did but I think with each passing competition I sort of tweaked little bits here and there in how I organised it from a vote counting point of view and how to make it a faster process for putting the countdown together etc, it was only really after doing the 8th edition (my 6th one running it) that the gaping flaws with how the rounds were constructed really came to my attention... there's always something that could be improved and this time is no different!
