I have no interest in all of this Trump bollocks tbh, besides wondering when everyone started caring about American politics, and how on earth such an obvious racist has so many fans.. Yet all of these Trump supporters vehemently deny being racist..its baffling really :conf:

..I think that's it though Vicky, part of the fascination because it seems so baffling..I don't know about in America in general, how much Americans themselves are baffled by the 'rise of Trump' but I'm not sure that many people even really took him seriously in the beginning and yet there he is and seeming quite 'un-stoppable'....it's funny because he's been likened to Hitler so many times, you can barely look up an image of him without seeing that association, him alongside Hitler in some kind of meme, type thing....and it's the likening of an 'ideal' in a way that Hitler had people believing in as well before he became what he became/what we now know in hindsight that he became but what people obviously didn't all see at the time in his 'rise'....obviously that was 'back in the day' so we could maybe look at that as a factor but here we are in 2016 and seeing something which is being deemed as similar/how can that happen..?...whatever we think of Trump personally, he's someone (I believe..)...who our children and our children's children etc will be discussing in their history lessons in time to come....

..I think it's too simplistic as well to feel that all Trump supporters are just inherently racist in the same way as we know (in hindsight..)...that supporters of Hitler's 'ideal' weren't either in his rise, they just didn't have that hindsight thing, many of his supporters were very much 'non-Hitler' once the realisation of who he actually was..it's funny because one of the news reporters in a vid I watched recently in talking about Trump possibly being un-stoppable said that, it would mean many people voting for someone else who they didn't necessarily support to make a vote against Trump, rather than a vote for someone else because they believed in them...(a bit like some of the Big Brother voting....)...and how hard that sort of voting would be to hope for..and yet it seems to me that a big part of Trump's success has been exactly that, people voting against an 'American politics establishment' that they aren't believing in anymore, rather than actually voting for him..that seems to be a part of it as well....

...anyways for me personally, I can't not be interested in all of this 'Trumpism' because it's real, it's happening in 2016 and I'm witnessing it and if I ever do have grandchildren and they ask why/how/what the heck..I want to be able to answer their questions with as much understanding and knowledge as I possibly can, rather than...oh, I didn't take much notice because he was a prejudiced idiot...(..one who may actually become one of the most powerful people in the world../Jesus H ..)....

Here what two college guys who sneaked in to one of Trumps rally's because they thought it would be entertaining but actually ended up very disturbed by the crowds reaction to Trumps words.....

"Trump basically said the same few things the whole time. He knows exactly what will get a cheer from the crowd and he says it. He mentioned his wall several times. About five or six if I can remember correctly. At one point he said ‘We’re going to build a wall. And who’s going to pay for it?’ And the crowd yelled, ‘Mexico!’ and then they lost their minds.

“Now, we all know exactly why this is stupid. So I won’t elaborate. It was just very unsettling. He mentioned ISIS several times. About ten. But not exactly how to stop ISIS. Just comments like, ‘We’re gonna get ISIS’, and ‘ISIS is going down’. Blanket statements.

“He did say that for America to win again (any sort of winning, not just against ISIS) we have to go outside of the law and he isn’t afraid to do it. And that’s unsettling for several reasons…And that was all he said on policy. Completely void of content or substance. Just statements that would get the crowd cheering.”

It’s been long-said that Donald Trump supporters have no clue about his political stance. When you ask Donald’s followers why they choose him, the majority of the answers sound like:

“He tells it like it is.” (How is it, exactly?)
“He’s going to get this country back the way it needs to be.” (As opposed to what?)
“He’s going to make this country great again.” (What is “great”?)
“Donald Trump is what this country needs.” (For whom?)

You get the picture. These are real answers from a surprisingly large percentage of Donald Trump’s supporters.

Sounds like a fairly typical rally tbh. They're not supposed to be places for serious debate about policy and you're not trying to convince the people who are there because they already support your campaign, you're just trying to pump them up and give them something to cheer about

Knowledge is good but being overly focused on something is not necessarily the same as being knowledgeable about it.

No, it was about what it feels like to be in a Trump rally if you are not a "real" trump supporter.

You're presuming they don't understand politics. I could say you don't understand politics but that would merely be me being presumptios wouldn't it?

Feck yes! I've been to a few political rallies in my time and that's what they are generally about.

:joker:

it would be political suicide if any of the candidates talked about specific policy at this stage

DemolitionRed 18-03-2016 09:05 AM

You may well laugh but that's exactly what the others are doing.

DemolitionRed 18-03-2016 09:07 AM

Trump is like Billy Graham. If you can get enough people in a football stadium and repeatedly chant stuff about God, you're guaranteed some new baptisms before the nights out.

DemolitionRed 18-03-2016 09:08 AM

Many of us enjoyed laughing at Trump, we enjoyed watching America the butt of jokes across the world, but now its more serious, he's a right wing bigot whose making his career out of inciting racial hatred and something similar to the civil rights movements is breaking out wherever he goes, good luck to them, good luck to the brave people who stand up against them faced with a wall of aggressive police and pepper spray.

You mean like when posters focus on one thing over and over again eg trump is a racist nazi whatever etc like you have posted in here many many many times now. So much so that the point you are trying to make is lost. It just comes across as sour grapes because your in a very small minority who look upon this and other post always in a negative way. Yet you continue to present false claims as truth and when pulled up on it by others you simply say there is no point in debating with you because your mind is set when the actual truth of it all is that it is you who have a blinkered and narrow mindset.:nono:

Niamh. 18-03-2016 11:34 AM

Seriously can you all not discuss the topic at hand with getting personal with eachother?

DemolitionRed 18-03-2016 12:10 PM

I don't think any racists sit around saying "I'm a racist". In fact most think they are good people with strong beliefs that only differ from the strong beliefs of others. Hell, even KKK members don't call themselves racists.

So what is Trumps message to the lowest common denominator?

“We’ll Make America GREAT again”
“immigrations is bad”
“We are going to work for the good people of America”
“Mexicans and Muslims are bad”
“I’m the guy who says it like it is”
“we are going to build a wall across Mexico”
“Lets Make America GREAT again"

The part I pay attention to is not whether or not Trump says or admits that he is a racist because to me, Trump is just a man who does a magnificent job of managing the people who are susceptible to his messages. He’s got the knack in putting human subjects into stereotyped objects which makes Trump a magnet to the supremacist majority.

Well you know what Johnny, go on any serious debate forum and you are going to find exactly the same as you are here, except other groups tend to get a lot more heated simply because they are allowed to.

My point is lost on YOU just as your point is lost on ME. I accepted that some time ago. What I do know or should I say, what comforts me and lets me sleep at night is, I know the majority of Brits don't think like you do. Whilst I'm in the small minority on here, I'm not fooled by the regular half dozen or so who write on this forum but perhaps my world is bigger than yours

I'm sorry if my mindset offends you. I was raised to look at the world through the eyes of the poor and oppressed, even though I am aware that my own circumstances are far more fortunate than theirs. If that makes me a tediously monotonous person, I can happily live with that.

It's not attribution, it's avoidance on your part.
