Tbf I never find first episode that interesting, I thought Asylum was the worst until about episode 5 now it's my favourite.

Tbf, there have been other reviews—that's just the first one I saw and read.

I find the review to be quite realistic. It describes Ryan Murphy's typical pretentious interpretations very well, but obviously I'll watch the episodes and decide what I think from there.

Looks like all the work Roanoke did to get the series back on track has been squandered. Murphy can't resist a pretentious wankfest, I think we're in for another Hotel.
