I think this update might be a nail in the coffin for DBD for me. Not the final one, I'm still optimistic, but everything that could go wrong with this one did go wrong:

1) Turned the framerate of the PS4 into complete dog****. Games are so laggy and unplayable right now, at a level I've not yet seen on this game.
2) The 'event' is just... you can get 3000 points for each "special" generator repaired, or each "special" hook used. That's it. No harvesting plants, no double bloodpoints, no special cake offering, nothing.
3) In its place are some new gimmicky offerings: the flickering lightbulb which does absolutely nothing for anyone with an IQ above 50, and the blight serum which just completely undoes some killers' abilities. You've hooked someone as ghostface and now want to go back into stealth? Tough ****, you have to do some stupid rush forward first. And you can't use it again until someone else is hooked... which won't happen because you can't go into stealth unless you use it.
4) Most heinous of all, despite some (as usual, admittedly cool) new skins, the ability to earn them through gameplay has been completely removed and you now have to spend money on them (unless you have 20,000+ shards saved up which... I mean... well done on 120 hours of work, I guess). There's absolutely no reason for this other than sheer greed; sure you can argue the Ghostface skin should be paid for since it's a license, but none of the other 5 (Feng, Yui, Felix, Legion & Blight) are and could easily have been a rehash of the 2018 or 2019 events where you can earn 2 of the skins for free. Especially since there's nothing ****ing spectacular about the survivor ones.
5) More killer perks nerfed into the ground: Thanatophobia is now useless since it doesn't affect healing, Pop Goes the Weasel has been shaved to 45 seconds to use it or lose it, Pyramid Head is turned into a spamming killer that can't play mindgames with his trails any more, Huntress Lullaby is nerfed, Discordance now has a limited range it can be visible from... there are TWO killer perks buffed (Trail of Torment and Cruel Limits) but... who uses those?! Meanwhile, all survivor perks changed are - of course - buffs (to Technician, For the People, We're Gonna Live Forever, Any Means Necessary and Slippery Meat).
6) The trapper map reworks look nice, but I can't help but feel most of the new reworks look the same graphically? I can't really tell much difference between the Freddy and Trapper maps now, tbh.
7) Oh and the new rift is garbage. Adam has OK cosmetics, but the Nea one is hideous. And some of the challenges are gross... hit 6 people with a rushing Blight in one game? For level ONE of the rift? Yikes.

I just... don't like the direction this game has gone in. The community likes to poke fun at its bugs and glitches and constant "pretty good job so far"s but it's becoming like Fallout; what was once part of its charm is now becoming a license to get lazy with development and just rush forward big money updates without actually testing it on players who know how to play it. It was exciting getting franchises like Stranger Things, Ghostface, Silent Hill involved with the game but beyond the $$$ those things generate there's nothing about DBD gameplay that's been any improvement since 2017.

I agree the update most recent was trash. I have logged in every day for the free stuff but the game feels like a chore.

Pop being nerfed is a joke, there was absolutely no reason to nerf it and the frame rate is bloody pathetic, release a limited time event and leave the game almost unplayable?

Charm codes btw if anyone even cares for them.

I think there was a hotfix two days ago and the framerate is a little better... or at least, back to how it was before the last update :laugh: double bloodpoints are now in effect until Nov 2 I think (can't they just make it a week? :( ) and I've calmed down re: the skins :laugh: the daily shards giveaways for logging in has made it easy to get a bunch of them, and let's be honest, you don't need the full outfit for the killers since the weapons aren't really worth the price.

next chapter is now live on the PTB and it honestly looks a scream :skull:



the killer unleashes her dead conjoined twin to incapacitate survivors until she can come along and smack them, but you can also kick the baby to death if he's not successful in getting you :skull: :skull: :skull:

new survivor is called Elodie and she looks hella cute (i thought they just gave Claudette a cool skin in the above video oops)

Perks: Survivor:
- One that means you can re-search opened chests 3 times for a new item (and also 40% faster) [Appraisal]
- One where if you sprint into a locker (and obviously jump out again), you stop leaving scratch marks for 3 seconds [Deception]
- One where if you are being carried by the killer, and reach 35% wiggle, you can drop a pallet on the killer yourself [Power Struggle]

Killer:
- One that means you get a notification every time someone searches a chest, or picks up an item of the floor near you, and also all chests only spawn worse loot (so no keys!) [Hoarder]
- One that means if you damage a generator, 3 other random generators will also start regressing (this'll be huge) [Oppression]
- One where every time a generator is repaired, you get a token that means you can increase your next lunge attack by 60% [Coup de Grace]

I thought there was already a survivor perk that gave you no scratch marks after leaving a locker?

The 3 x generator regression is nice and the pallet stun perk is interesting, I think it should be progession free though so you can crawl to one and pull it down.

I think there's only ones that give you no scratch marks after vaulting a window (Dance With Me) and when a generator is finished (Poised), nothing for lockers until now. In all honesty it's a bit useless, if a killer can't find you 3 seconds after you've jumped out of a locker it's not going to matter with or without scratch marks :laugh:

I can see a lot of people pairing it up with Ash's "Flip Flop" - so by the time you've been on the floor and recovered a bit, it'll contribute to your wiggle when you're picked up and you should activate it soonish. Just depends how close to the pallet you have to be.

there was another code I think, NAUGHTYSTOCKING, for the first thing in the Advent calendar giveaway but that might expire by tomorrow and you probably all know about that already. From tomorrow until the 7th you can claim a sweater for Zarina with a code that's on the News tab (IIRC it was 'SNAPSNAP')

Apparently the fanbase are raging about this update being broken but admittedly, I've not encountered many bugs yet outside of a camera angle bug while controlling Victor.

there's been a few odd little things but nothing as game-breaking as the Blight update which crushed the framerate:

- sometimes as survivor, the screen glitches a little and I can see my own scratchmarks (I never use that Nancy perk either)
- matchmaking seems a lot slower than it has been the past 6 months... not as awful as it used to be, but it feels like it's taken some steps back
- some of the new perks don't seem to work but I haven't tested them myself (Hoarder in particular)
- seen some people able to crawl out the exit gate after being downed by Charlotte with Victor on them, despite the supposed promise this wouldn't be possible
- Ormond rework has things spawning in absurd places (walls blocking hooks, rocks blocking windows, etc), and survivors are able to climb rocks and be invincible

otherwise I guess there're still a lot of complaints with the game but they haven't got much to do with this chapter:
- as Killer, the number of times you go to grab a survivor off a gen, or them unhooking someone, and you just freeze for a bit and don't even injure them = super super frustrating
- Pyramid Head's blade constantly dragging along the floor making noise (when he's supposed to be somewhat stealthy)
- Chase music seems inconsistent, especially with Doctor and Executioner (sometimes doesn't play at all)

they need more criticism tbh, the fans are way too lenient and embrace the bugs as part of the game's charm when it's anything but charming.

this game is so cancerous, I hope something replaces it soon in all honesty.

I just had a match where a ghostface downed me right at the end, he had no kills, the other players left because he was camping me on the floor while he tea bagged, the entity killed me and he sent me a message (I haven't sent one back nor will I) telling me to 'kill yourself irl' and because I never answered he sent another saying 'hope the silence means you already have'.

What is wrong with people?

Sending messages like that are so dangerous, it could have easily been someone extremely vulnerable. Really puts me off the game.

He'll get banned for sure, most game companies come down hard on messages like that. Sadly, I think toxicity is just something that is prevalent in most games. It's not a DBD specific problem.

Honestly, at this point, I can only think of one online focused game I've played that isn't really toxic at all and that's FFXIV.
