that was the most sectacular thing ive ever seen ! Well done China ! We've got a hard job to do to beat that in 2012 ! I wish i had been there though - absolutley AMAZING !
|
we better start planning then!
|
London is doomed.
|
They did a amazing job, I knew they would do.
No way is London going to beat this, our country is a disater. :P |
I bet the organisers for 2012 are wondering why they made a bid, they aren't going to best China
|
OMG the opening ceremony was spectacular! London is never going to beat that.
|
I just watched BBC news and they said 100 2012 organisers were at the games, they interviewed some guy who was the executive producer for 2012 and he said
"I think we can top that, it was excellent however i don't think teenagers will have sat down and watched the first hour or 2 of the game." He went on and said that 2012 will "Appeal more to the teenagers." I really think they can top that, i mean look at the fireworks at the London Eye for the beginning of year, they are spectacular shows and i thought the 2008 fireworks at the Eye beat China's new year fireworks. I'm going to stay optimistic about it and wish them the best of luck. |
i was thinking that too DT our new years celebrations are usually really good i still think ours will be good but i dunno how we can top that
|
Opening ceremony was amazing! :bouncy:
Especially the bit where Li Ning held the torch started flying up! It was really unexpected and shocking (in a good way obviously!). :spin2: And him running around the massive plasma screen seemed almost magical. (lol) Finished by the revealing of the massive torch. (How did they keep that hidden!? lol!) Now bring on the sport! :thumbs2: |
So they will be aiming the 2012 opening ceremony at teenagers, well it does fit in with the logo

Can't wait until 2012, who else will be there???
|
It should appeal to everyone
but aiming it to younger people gives the opening ceremony a theme, maybe Britain today focusing more on the youth. They could include street dancers or something. I really should organise the opening ceremony  Maybe London 2012 could be up there with Beijing 2008 |

I think 2012 will be a lot better than everyone thinks. There's still 4 years to plan yet. I intend to go there, too.

First days events no medals yet so far but ive got hopes for tommorow
|
^ I think we will do okay in medals overall.
I don't understand all this hype for Tom Daley... I know hes young and everything but come 2012 he would of burned out by then, too much too soon. |

It's not good putting so much pressure on someone his age.
|
Tom isn't even going for a medal this year so I dont see wht the problem is. The media have took it far out of proportion in every single interview he has said he is there this year for the experience not for a medal, although if he wins a medal he said its just a bonus. There is nothing wrong with him entering this early in his life.
In the swimming heats there was a 15 year old girl. Cant remember where she is from but you dont see so much buzz about her. |
I'm going to be a downer here but I didn't think that Beijing really captured the essence of the Olympics as well as Athens. It was just a spectacle of "hey look at our technology!" Too many performers, too long, no flow. London can definitely top that, but nothing will beat Athens. Also, I have serious issues with the UK team being called Great Britain. I get that there's the Northern Ireland issue, but Great Britain's an island for God's sake.
