Running to alert the others of Julianne, Chenzira's cries echoed throughout the compound and even Ieva could hear it from her cell. At the control tower, Luiz had been tampering with various switches and buttons in an attempt to alert the outside world to their plight. Moments before he heard Chenzira in the distance, he had a breakthrough: a series of buttons when pressed together made musical notes. Feeling a little fluorish coming on, and in a move that made Arnaud's ghost weep, he showcased a tiny excerpt from the chorus of Edelweiss. To his amazement, the ground began moving, and a whole new door to a floor below them slowly opened. Taking Chenzira's yells to be more threatening than pleading, Stefanie began hobbling in increasing speed as she was helped to the control tower by Mariya. "Oh god, he's coming for us," Mariya cried, as she practically dragged the young German. Moments ahead of the girls, Hugh and Demetri stopped to investigate the commotion: Hugh ducked into a storage closet for a heavy-enough torch to defend himself with, and made sure to emerge only once the women had passed - Demetri hushed them to keep silent and gestured for them to move on ahead - and Chenzira turned the corner a minute after them. "Come quick, it is Julianna-" he panted, apparently unable to remember the poor girl's name - "I think she has been killed," and he collapsed to his knees, raising his hands to his head and repeatedly yelling "oh god! oh god!" to himself. Demetri motioned for Hugh to investigate, and he agreed to take Chenzira back to the main cell block with the control tower, being careful not to get too close to the crying madman on the floor. |
Hugh found that Chenzira had indeed been right: Julianne's still corpse was in the centre of a pool of water that was emitting violent sparks and cracks. He looked behind to make sure this wasn't bait, and clutched the torch tighter. "She's dead!" he boomed.
"Scheisse, scheisse," Stefanie kept mumbling under her breath as she took in this information and kept on hobbling. She and Mariya had approached the main block now, and opened the door to discover Luiz descending a flight of steps. "Wait for us! Wait!" Mariya screamed, as he ignored them, but when he tried to close the door he hadn't counted on it being as slow a process as its opening. It would take a minute for them to shut, so instead he turned around and put on his best "Oh, sorry, I didn't hear you!" face. He received a clobber around the ear from Mariya, as he went to help Stefanie into the staircase. It was pitch black at the bottom, but with a killer somewhere behind them, the three were willing to task the risk and clambered down. Some yards behind, Demetri followed Chenzira with apprehension. He was half in a mind to turn back and see if Hugh's discovery was true, but even so - the killing of another defenceless woman so close to him seemed to make something inside him tick. |
9 killings and you bitches haven't learned to placate me with small-talk and "omg!!! :o"s inbetween bits of the story :bored: I hope you all die now
|
Only 45 seconds remained, and Demetri and Chenzira were stood outside the main entrance to the cell block. Chenzira had just been struck in the back with a block of wood pocketed from the workshop and had fallen to the ground, when Hugh caught up with them and saw Demetri looking down on him. He intervened, and pinned Demetri against a wall as Chenzira scattered through the door. He saw the two women and Luiz (#lad) cowering in a silhouette, and ran and slid under the closing doors.
Hugh was dealt a blow to the head by Demetri as he fought back: he'd meant to teach Chenzira a lesson, and now he'd bought himself a few more precious moments. He staggered through the door, and saw the closing hatch. He hurtled forward, as fast as his 51 year old frame would allow, and dropped and rolled through the gap just in time. The door closed, and Hugh was stuck upstairs. "This ends here," they heard. |

DrunkerThanMoses, I'm sorry to inform you that - once again - you've fallen at the last hurdle :( If it's any consolation, your character, Hugh, hasn't died. What happens to him, and Ieva, and the final five, will be made clear once the final's taken place.
Jon - thank you so much for playing, and I think I speak for more than one judge when I say you were a favourite to win  |
