...6/10 I think...

I fell asleep watching this so haven't seen the ending properly but it waa reminding me of What Lies Beneath with Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford a little bit.

When Harry Met Sally...

I’d never seen it before shamefully - stuck it on to see what all the fuss is about. Lived up to the hype, such an easy watch and probably one of the best “rom coms” (if you can call it that) I’ve ever seen. You’re rooting for them to get together from the first moment they’re on screen together - brilliant chemistry.

Nora Ephron was a fantastic storyteller - love Sleepless in Seattle too. 10/10.

The Woman in the Window.

7/10

Spoiler:

Really enjoyed this. Surprised and a little disappointed Jennifer Jason Leigh got such little to do. But I suppose they were trying to mislead us, with her known for playing unhinged characters, into thinking she was going to be the villain.
Julianne Moore was really good in her small part. I spotted the “What makes you say that?” straight away so kind of knew it wouldn’t be as simple as JJL pretending to be her. I actually thought she was going to turn up alive, as the stabbing scene I suspected she was pretending someone was there to fool Amy Adams.
Then about halfway they over egged the weird teenager angle so then I kind of thought it would be him. The end sequence was odd, with the CGI closeup of her stabbed cheek and the OTT chase, the kid’s overacting. It was like the film turned into a Saw sequel or something. :joker:

Overall really good, would have liked more of a resolution with Gary Oldman’s character. But it was gripping throughout, kept you thinking with the twists and turns and Amy Adams was solid.

Jupiter Ascending (2015) yesterday afternoon for the second time

it had been a while since i saw this for first time, and again i enjoyed watching it a lot

very stunning role from Mila Kunis

and i like Channing Tatum either

also Sean Bean  :clap2:

really absolutely don't get why it got many bad reviews, but then again i do not pay attention to reviews since them overhyping the trash that is lord of the rings, the hobbit, harry potter so

my own score for this 9.5/10 graphics were cool, storylines was very nice for syfy genre, acting work was also good

I watched Knives Out since Netflix are doing two sequels to it. I really enjoyed it, it's got a great cast, the plot is interesting and there's some nice twists on the typical murder mystery format that really mixes things up.

9/10

Your Name….visually beautiful, emotionally beautiful, magical, stunning…not really a film that needs words, just one to feel, loved it..9.5/10…..

Ammi 22-05-2021 07:11 AM

…Spirited Away……spectacular and mesmerising…beautiful and nightmarish…10/10….

Ammi 23-05-2021 06:21 AM

…Army of the Dead……what decays and slays in Vegas stays in Vegas…the zombies made Walking Dead feel a little…basic…just entertaining and fun and not pretty etc…7/10

Tom4784 23-05-2021 03:45 PM

Army of the Dead

It was cute and the fact that Tig Notaro was essentially a special effect is pretty incredible, but the film as a whole was way too long. You could have literally cut 45 minutes off the runtime and not affected anything.

Spoiler:

Also the daughter's subplot with the woman she was trying to find was quite frustrating. It has no payoff and it just cheapens the film since that whole story serves as nothing more than a plot device to screw things up.

Also, justice for that queen with the bandanna and the hoop earrings :clap1:

I did enjoy it for what it was, but it could have been better, especially considering how good Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead was.

7/10

I love that film :flutter: You should look into Makoto Shinkai's other works if you can, Weathering With You is his latest (and one of his weaker efforts, tbh), but I'd recommend Garden of Words and 5 centimetres per second, they're both only an hour long but they're so good.

I'm also here for your Ghibli era :clap1:

..I watched Garden of Words a little while ago and yeah, it’s definitely a layered and worthy watch, Dezzy…I’ll check to see if I can catch 5 centimetres per second, thank you……I’m definitely in an era of Ghibli atm……it really is the ultimate film food of the soul, I think …:flutter:…

Only Yesterday…this will maybe be on my list of all time favourites now…just a wonderful movie of female individuality and ‘empowerment’ and reflection of that world of entering adulthood and womanhood…in such an incredibly real and sensitive way …

Spoiler:

…I loved when Taeko ate the pineapple and everyone else’s portion ….the rest of her family preferring their ‘familiar’… /..their safe and their expected etc…and she wanting to feel every experience that life brought her…it was so symbolic of who she was….:flutter:…

10/10……

…I didn’t know who Tig Notaro was but yeah, she seemed to overfill that part completely and was a total delight when she was on screen….it was just a really fun zombie movie…I’m always fascinated at how fast and intelligent zombies actually are in real life and not what the Walking Dead would have us believe….that they’re all so slow, we’re so going to survive that apocalypse…that’s not true at all…
