I'm so pleased this thread was started:hello:
Life is far too short for hating:shocked: It's ok to feel strongly about housemates but I think they all add something like or dislike them. We always have differeing views on housemates but have always kept things friendly which is one of the main reasons I've stayed here so long:spin2: |

I know i've bickered with people before, but everyone must learn to just ignore those with strong opinions who decide to take the argument to another level and become personal.
It takes a warrior to walk away from a fight. |
*One cannot debate with single mindled mentality* It's paramount to bashing ones head against a brick wall and why would one?
|
Yep, you're right. I have my favourite housemates and housemates I don't particularly like, but I would never criticise or insult someone just because they feel differently - we're all entitled to our opinion. I have noticed quite a few posts along the lines of "Are you *******ing stupid" and "you must be thick" etc., and I think it's a shame that people who post things like that can't find the words to express themselves in a better way.
I would say though that as a relative newbie to the forum, I do think the vast majority of people on here are great and open to good debate - it's only a minority who spoil things a bit. |
Hate Threads are negative and even though i kinda enjoy replying and putting my posts into them id rather talk about fave housemates etc etc etc
|
someones fave thread is somebody elses hate thread...
so it kinds of cancels itself out really |

Why can't people just talk about something and create a good thread like "Vanessa To Win" or something...it's a shame really.I really enjoyed TiBB last year but this year it's very different.:bored: |
We've got a new 'zero tolerance' policy about insulting posts and swearing. Hopefully this should improve the atmosphere on the board.
Lots of warnings today. |
I've only begun usiing this forum this year and it is rather disturbing how many hateful comments are being written on here, no need for it in this day and age surely??

fluffysquirrels
it's wasn't like this last year. We use have digs at each other in a fun way and there was none of the nastiness you are seeing at the moment on the board. I think part of what we are seeing is a reaction to the show this year. The housemates clearly have strong and sometimes hateful feeling to others in the house and this spilling over onto the threads. Red |
I agree, i don't understand why the moderators aren't more strict? WHy not threaten to boot or log IP addresses etc etc. There are some rather yobbish characters on here sometimes with some horrible language. It's nice to see someone has started some 'I Like....' threads at last.
|
The Moderators are doing a great job. It's difficult for them they are not full time and they can't read everything and they want to watch big brother too. The best we can do to help is to keep hitting that report button when we see the yobbish posts.
The problem with banning i/p addresses is they can be change, for example I have ADSL and if I restart my router I get a new i/p address to play with! However recording the i/p address and login times could be done but what would you do with them. You could write to their Internet Service Provider, but do you think they would take action and lose a customer? |
Thanks James for taking the feelings of everyone on board - you are a star. I wouldnt thank you for having the thankless task of trying to keep up with and moderate this site buts its fantastic to know you are trying.
Maybe we can get some good old debates going now!!! |
I'm with you there Sunny. We had some wonderful debates last year.

And last year we just had a bit of fun, nothing half as aggressive as it is this year...from some people, there is still the odd person out there who you can have a good lengthy debate with without it getting heated.:bored: |
I made my very first post just the other day and let me tell everyone something. The ridiculous, rude, bigoted, bias and twisted nonsense I saw going on in several threads, especially from people who are in this thread now was absolutely ridiculous, so those same people are no one to talk. The excuses for what they said were even more disgraceful. They swore themselves. The ones that did not swear also said really bad things. It does not matter how old you are, when someone feels wronged they will talk about it. Swearing depends on who does it. For some people it is merely 'staple vocabulary' thrown around. Others use it to get their point across or whne they feel seriously wronged or when someone has done it to them. When you have a group of people with a certain 'mind set', just as that Anthony group on BB, they of course are going to become comfortable and set in their ways, because they have others supporting them and when anyone else who comes along with a different opinion , especially to stand up against the wrong that this group of people do, they refuse to be corrected.
Age has absolutely NOTHING to with maturity. This forum makes it evident To put it really , really simply, why are there not more childrens correctional facilities than jails? Adults commit plenty of crime and do plenty of bad things, there are younger generations more mature than certain adults. You do not become an adult , simply by 'ageing'. Maturity and wisdom comes from experience and making the choice to mature. Now when I see those same bigoted and immature hypocrites tallking about the quality of other people I can not believe it. They have only bought me to conclude, that when a twisted group of individuals gets together, anyone who opposes them will look out of place. It must be taken into consideration that this year we are dealing with annoying ,mean, rude and selfish housemates, so people's reactions are not going to that 'pleasant' to 'unpleasant people'. It is the housemates causing such reactions. They cannot do the things they do and expect people to go and have a 'picnic' about it. |
I've read the above posts a few times, and am still none the wiser as to what actually is being said. Apart from a few broad sweeping and IMO factually incorrect generalisations and conclusions, I'm not really sure what the overall message is.
If it's that you think people should swear and that we should expect it because of the way the housemates act(final paragraph seems to say this) then it's a simple reply. If the mods and admins say no swearing, then there's no swearing. We agree to abide by their rules when we sign up. Yes, I've swore in a few threads and it has been auto-censored, but the position is clear now. Zero tolerance. Thats their decision and we either follow it or face the inevitable consequences. To give you credit though, I think your's is the first post I have seen to actually spell "hypocrite" correctly. Kudos for that at least. |
