I am more of a reader now than a poster and sometimes to me a posters age seems very apparent and other times it's hard to tell just what age they may be.

I know that a lot of the topic`s discussed here are age based related!!!!!!!!, but some are not.

Thanks everyone for you participation!
Agreed! Yes, you can often tell by language and comments made what age group that particular individual is likely to belong to. Quite frustrating really - because then can't have serious and interesting exchange of opinions!!
Do you have to be old to have opinions like??????? What a screwed up thing to say
Think previous posts such as "hope someone's relatives die in a plane crash" and "will Sophie get her tits out" say it all. My point proved I think!!
You might be correct, but a 55 year old could say those things as much as a 13 year old Me, I'm 43 and say a lot of daft things! (without being as extreme as the things you cited)

As far as I was aware - you weren't the one that said them - why did you say them as well? Report away!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd misread your post and changed my retort - initially I'd thought you had accused me

kisywisy 02-08-2009 10:15 AM

i'm 26

the age groups you have on the poll are strange. there is a massive difference between 18 and 28

i agree with some of the posts on this topic. you can tell which topics and/or posts have been made by younger members. but that's not to say that some post comments that are mature and have valid points. there are a few on here that just come on for an argument and to be abusive, but i don't think that it's limited to the younger members

Problem with IP bans is that you could block someone that shares a PC. God knows if I was 12 and my sister was blocking me from the PC I might have been evil enough to get her banned so I could have access to it (I am no longer 12 nor that evil (well....)).
Sorry off topic for a mo

Nah if you ban an ip on a forum like this, its not too hard to get round. It depends on the ISP and also the type of connection. I like a certain troublemaker am with talktalkand as opposed to using a static IP allocation they use a dynamic IP allocation, I only need to close and exit my browser switch my router off for 10 seconds switch it back on and open a new browser, I would then have a new IP allocated.

There also other things people could do, use a decent hide ip program, before causing trouble amonst other things.

Actions I use on my own site when faced with a repeat trouble maker, aks politley for them to desist, ban for a while, permanent ip ban, and if the offender gets round that, log their ip day and time etc, then report them to their own ip for netabuse, they then investigate monitor and if need be they can place restrictions on the person.

Know that yer saying Shas - my cable provided IP is static, but I know a streaming site where I can download a hide IP application and the crack for it and come from San Diego, Egypt, Russia, wherever.

I just think trolls wouldn't go the extra mile to disguise their IP unless someone like nursey/dennissabre who seems to be on a mission to flood TIBB

Furbylol 02-08-2009 10:46 AM

16 & bored.

Shasown 02-08-2009 10:47 AM

Thats the thing though some troublemakers find a site/forum, start trouble and when they get banned they go out of their way to get back onto the site and wreak more hassle. I have had people in the past after getting banned reset router, then use hide ip etc to then try stay one step ahead.
