The pink triangle was originally a badge sewn onto the uniforms of homosexual inmates of Nazi concentration camps. It has now been inverted and is commonly used as a symbol of gay pride.
As you know, pink is the commonly used adjective to mply anything homosexual, like pink publishing, the pink pound etc. Sometimes used by the 'community' themselves as a solidarity term but still also used as a negative epithet on occasions.
It is a complex issue. There is also a 'pink triangle' in Edinburgh and other cities of the world, sometime because of a geographical shape to the area of clubs, bars and residential solidarity and sometimes just because of the semiotics and associations of the term.
