Vash and Marcus are more controversial, and more of a threat in the final. So they'd get a lot of eviction votes in this regard.

It's usually not about one individual fan base (or two). It's about the other fan bases.

Noirin, Freddie, Sree, Angel etc all had decent fan bases.

Which is basically what happened with Freddie. He had more fans than Marcus (at the time anyway), but fans of other HMs and neutrals would rather see him go. Because he's a bigger threat in the final, because he was more annoying, whatever. And he did - 53.61%

So David may escape since he's rather uncontroversial and relatively anonymous in the grand scheme of things. Who'd bother to vote? And Marcus and Vash fans may dislike the opposing HM as well!

There's a lot that goes into the algorithm of who will get most eviction votes, esp in 3 way.

That is the thing. Even if one supposes that Marcy and Vash fans would 'combine against David' you still have a bigger combined 'Charlie, Sophie, Rodrigo' fan bases who are more likely to see Siavash or Marcus as the biggest threats to their fave player.
Less likely to see David as a threat.
Rodrigo fans DONT want Roddy next to Siavash at Final 2,
but,
Rodrigo fans DO feel much more safe with Roddy vs David at the Final 2.
