I was at school...my school told us nothing at all about it, went home at 3pm and saw it on the news. My mother was disgusted that the school didnt even acknowledge it.

I hate when a relative or friend is somewhere when something terrible happens....

My brother has photos of him on top of the Twin Towers 2 months to the date before it happened, really weird to look at knowing all them people died...[/rquote]

my bro was in london the day of the tube bombings, and he uses them daily, we were scared shitless

[/rquote]

My Auntie and uncle were in london on the 7/7 aswell, used a tube and bus.
I was on a school trip to legoland..

And R.I.P all that died in both incidents.

Thats just a little understated, and harsh. lol.

We got told nothing.

We even had to protest to do the 2 minute silence or whatever it was. The headteacher didnt want us to miss out on lessons :bored:

I was in my bedroom getting ready for work and my mate texted me to put telly on...It were mental

Did not realise..

Loads of people like firemen who were the first at the site, have died from cancer and asbestos poisoning and that.

Feel sorry for them, just trying to help.

Around 100 ground zero recovery workers have died of cancer, with a further 600 hundred diagnosed with the disease.

Thats terrible.

I wonder if anyone was killed by the initial debris from the plane.

andyman 11-09-2009 11:51 AM

I got in from work at around 12.30pm (night driver with a late shift), maybe bit later, i sat down with a brew and switched sky news on... Shocker!

At the time only one tower was hit and nobody know 100% how, but then... '*****ING HELL!' Live on tv million saw the 2nd plane hit the other tower..

Then all panic on the streets, reports of other attacks... And the towers fell to add to the death toll.

not to mention when you consider the people who:
- could've been in the floors above where the plane hit.
- the people who jumped from the towers.
- the people on the plane (I remember reading the body of an air hostess with her hands tied behind her back was found intact)
- anyone who could've been stuck in a lift not knowing what was going on.

ugh i hate thinking about this, so upsetting.

Nicky. 11-09-2009 12:16 PM

No idea, I was 7... I didn't even realise how bad it was...

I must've came in from school and it was on the news, although I remember watching the news in school once, but I can't remember what that was for... :\

ButterflyGirl 11-09-2009 12:31 PM

sitting at home right next to the tv ,watching in utter disbelief, i still get upset now if i see the attacks on television

Christina 11-09-2009 12:36 PM

I came home from school and me and my family were watching it, think i was in year 5?? RIP to all those who died :(

Josy 11-09-2009 12:36 PM

I was doing my housework with sky news on when the first plane hit and i was shocked, my bf and i watched the news all day after that, i was 19 when it happened.

Shaun 11-09-2009 12:40 PM

I was leaving school and people were crowding around classroom television sets, I didn't really see what had happened but then heard about it on the radio on the way home - got home and saw them collapse.

*mazedsalv** 11-09-2009 01:27 PM

Back from school (I was 8) was feeling abit ill, saw my Mum watching it on the news.

I heard somewhere that is was the most watched thing on TV in History (espcially for a piece of news), Im sure i read that 4b people were watching it (2/3 of the world).

*mazedsalv** 11-09-2009 01:33 PM

What i dont get is that the first plane hit towards the higher bit of the building, wouldnt the people in the middle of the tower and the lower end have felt it and tried escaping, or didnt they feel it?

The 2nd plane hit the South Tower around 2/3 up so in risk of killing more people as there were more people above the point where the plane crashed.

What really upsets me are the people that didnt know what was going on (maybe towards the lower end) and realised what was happening just as the tower was coplased so it was too late to escape.

Also on the Phone Call documentary there was a story of a man who went into work for 5 MINUTES to pack up his desk as he was leaving his job there and moving somewhere else and he died there, how horrible is that!! He just went in there to pack up his things and get another job!

Iceman 11-09-2009 02:18 PM

US Coastguard has opened fire on a boat in the Pontac river in Washington DC.

The river is closed off today because of the anniversary of 9/11......

I hope this isn't a terrorist attack....:shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked:

Iceman 11-09-2009 02:31 PM

That was a training excersise.

I'm sorry but this just shows why the world percieves Americans as being dumb.

Who in their right minds decides to have a training excercise moments before President Obama drives past a bridge........

Oh and the fact it's 9/11, somebody needs to be fired.....

Ramsay 11-09-2009 02:41 PM

Saw it on the news in the morning
i was like wtf
went to school
teacher told us what happened and we were sent home

Sophii3x 11-09-2009 03:49 PM

I was 10 and I was in school. The headteacher came into the class and said that two planes crashed into the world trade centre in America. Despite not knowing what the world trade centre was I renember being so shocked and upset. I got home and saw what happened on the news. Later on I got a phonecall from my cousin saying that her dad and brothers were safe.. they were in New York, they were going to go up the tower that morning at about half 8ish, but went the night before instead.. they saw the whole attacks from their hotel room.

I can't believe it's been 8 years though. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost their loved ones on that day.

bluehill 11-09-2009 03:50 PM
