The Stranglers are so 80s though, the sound, the lyrics, everything just suit that era more dont yer reckon? Squeeze- Up the Junction was 1979 but its just got the 80s all over it, post hippydippy/punk influence/Thatchers Britain...

XTC (very underated), love that sound too

tears for Fears were great ever if they went overblown with the Beatles influence

Born to Run simply the greatest amercian record ever released

Nurse57 26-09-2009 11:27 PM

May I throw Depeche Mode in to the mix please, along with Bauhaus, Japan, Teardrop Explodes/Julian Cope, Adam Ant, Pixies, Cameo, Level 42 (early stuff), Howard Jones, Thomas Dolby, and err, Jive Bunny.

What Springsteen album is the Ghost of Old Tom Jones on? One of the best peices of music ever laid down?

mrs-big 26-09-2009 11:30 PM

Whitesnake!

Stu 27-09-2009 12:23 PM

Post Punk is my favourite movement ever, circa 78-84. Far better than Punk, which was a cultural cul de sac. The Pop Group, the Slits, PIL, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Gang Of Four, Joy Division, all amazing.

Next best thing to follow was the acid and rave explosion of the late 80's.
